Don't ever come to this establishment. They are unprofessional and they don't know how to braid. I got my hair braided on July 4 and the braids started slipping out literally 7 days later. I went back to get the braids fixed and they stared slipping out again. The owner told me to come back on Saturday July 21 at 9am. When I get they tell me that they can't braid my hair because they didn't realize I had so many braids to fix. It is no way my braids should have came out this fast within 1 week. I showed up on time to get my daughter's braids done for back to school, she did a great job braiding my daughter's hair although I do not know she would have her children there as well. They were pretty well-behaved, she had to stop to feed her babies, but she did finish and a good time frame. The shop seems to be clean and in order. I was extremely dissatisfied with my service here and not recommend anyone to go here for several reasons. - The owner told me what times were available But when I booked she was over booked and I had to wait until two people where complete before she could start on my hair. I WAS AT THIS BRAIDING SALON FOR 10 HOURS!! - The lady who started my hair (lemonade braids basically) did not finish because she did not feel comfortable. I had to wait for another person she called in to do my hair. -She was yelling at the person on the phone all the way until they came in, many many hours after I got there. -When I very politely ATTEMPTED to point out that the style she was starting the braid was not aligning with the pic, she became enraged and refused to finish my hair. I MEAN LITERALLY YELLING AND SCREAMING, at no time did I raise my voice at this woman. - I was about to walk out when the owner asked me to stay and said she would finish my hair. At this point I am in the chair with half of my head done (been there for over 7 hours now and I just wanted to get it done. Keep in mind the other lady stayed there watching rolling her eyes and making comments in another language. - When I was done after 10 HOURS!! I left so quickly, I was tired frustrated and appalled by my treatment. - The final look was sub-par and not like the pictures I had shown her from very angle. - And after the overbooking, switching between three people and being yelled and cursed at she had the nerve to charge me full price!! -I ended up having a family member to redo my hair because I hated it so much. The owner (Mary) had the audacity to text me the next day with a passive aggressive statement of "I hope you like the style you chose". I did not reach out to this woman. She had no reason to text me that. And if it was the style I asked for then maybe I would have liked it. I WILL NEVER BE BACK AT THAT PLACE AND HAVE TOLD THE PERSON WHO TOLD ME ABOUT IT AND THEY WILL NEVER RETURN AS WELL. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE I KNOW. Ok,so I was very happy the 1st visit and planned to return but before I did I decided to go with someone who had a better price. You really do get what you paid for and I will not waste my time nor money going anywhere else. That being said I came back, I called Saturday morning and needed an appointment same day and early so I could get to work. I was very disappoint with the quality of work from the shop. After only a week braids started knot up/ fall out. I would not recommend anyone going to this salon ever. When I attempted to have then redo some of the braids, the owner was very uncooperative in assisting me and gave such bad customer service in handling my concern. A total waste of money. I would strong advise people not to go this location as the braids do not last long. My main concern is that I should not have to be getting a touch up after only a week of having the braids put in. I have been going to this shop since it first opened. The service was wonderful and the owners were super nice and professional. Since the shop was sold, I have gone several more times. Each time the service was a little worse than the other. The last time I went, the owner was in the hospital and I was told another braider would be doing my hair. Her name was Rhoda and she was the rudest braider I have ever gone to. Another lady in the shop had driven from Oklahoma and sat waiting for one of the braiders to return from picking up her daughter from school. After she had sat there for three hours, she was finally told the braider wasn't coming back because she was too "picky". I felt so bad for her and recommended her to a salon I had used in the past. With that being said, I will NEVER get my hair done at Fine Plats again and I highly recommend no one else goes to this place either. I have a feeling it won't be open much longer anyway. read more

You can walk in and get same day service Cons: 1. Way too pricey for basic styles 2. Conversations in their native language, and much like Vietnamese nail shop you know when they are talking shit 3. Way too pricey for Children's hairstyles 4. Quality of work for styles that aren't basic cornrows or box braids or twists are garbage 5. Quality of work depends on the braider 6. Some of the braiders are rude ( one in particular the one that looks older, and like she's bleached her skin is defensive and obnoxiously rude). I wasn't happy with the way my child's hair looked at all when we walked out. The crotchet looked a freaking hot ass mess. I kept complaining about the way the hair was put in, and the way the the braids were done underneath. I genuinely regret this location for my child. I don't care what excuse is given, my child's hair looks awful. I tried to reach out to the owner to rectify this matter, but the self-righteous responses I received made it clear nothing would be done m I've paid way less and gotten better quality work. The owner took no responsibility. I'm really really unhappy about this mess in my child's hair. The situation: I read the reviews for this shop, and I decided to take a chance and get kinky twists at this establishment. I have a professional job and needed a protective style that cut down on my morning routine. Pros: The stylists are quick (it took 3.5 hours for long twists with 3 people working on my hair), it was easy to book an appointment, good location, overall atmosphere was acceptable. Cons: One of the 3 stylists left the ends of the twists frayed and a handful of the twists came unraveled within a few days. I felt like if a stylist is not as experienced as other stylists, perhaps there should be a price reduction for her services (I paid $220 when I felt like, considering the quality, I should've paid $150). The head stylist saw the problem and tried to fix it; she said she would fix any twists that came undone after that and she did. Although I appreciated her checking before I walked out the door, it was inconvenient having to go back to the shop the following week. I also wondered why she felt the need to check the other ladies' work for mistakes. The verdict: I likely will not go back to this shop. I'm used to paying in the $200s for this type of style, but again, I expected a better final product. I'd rather try another shop that charges the same or more but has a better quality. The ladies at this shop seem like they mean well, but unless it's a basic style and the head stylist performs the service, I'm not sure it's worth it for me. warning: the african women in this shop are unprofessional!!!! i specifically told these women not to braid my hair tight and really thin around my edges!!! i had hair breakage within weeks. the women assume all women want scalp tight braids so they can last longer instead of listening to my requests!!! i only wear my braids for a month...maybe month in a half. ladies dont listen! and two of the ladies ate food with they tried to briad my hair!!! they were shouting in my ear the entire time singing their french/ivory coast music and being loud! i will never go to another african hair braiding shop again! only african american women understand wanting to keep your damn edges. read more

I was hesitant to write a review but I just had to considering the fact that a braid has fallen out and it hasn't even been a week. I made an appointment for 10 am. I arrived at 9:50am. The shop was closed and there was no one in sight. I waited until 10am to call and I was told that someone was on their way and they would arrive in 10 mins. 20 mins later someone shows up. After getting settled, picking hair, another client picking hair the process started around 11am. I was told that another braided was on the way. An hour later the other braider shows up with a toddler in tow. The newest braider begins on the other side of my head. Shortly into braiding my hair the toddler comes over crying. The braider has to take a break. This happened at least 5 times. Meanwhile CNN is blasting on the TV with lots of political negativity. Bad vibes. Back to my hair, around 4pm, YES I was still there, one of the braiders STOPS braiding my hair to braid a guys hair that walked in because he was going to work soon. I too had other things to do that day and no one was considerate of my time. 30-40mins later the braider returned to my hair. Everything was finally finished around 5:30pm. I was extremely exhausted and frustrated with what I had experienced. Not once did I receive an apology for the late arrival OR stopping during the process. I am not real sure how all the other reveiws came in so high, it was the most awful result from a braiding experience I have ever received and I've been to braiders in Houston, San Antonio and Washington DC. I will agree with the others that the shop was very clean and everyone was friendly, especially the lady who serves as manager. The braiders did not follow instructions on how I wanted my micro braids and the quality was POOR. I have lost at least a braid a day because the braids were not done correctly. The braiders were lazy and cheated on how they did the braids based on where they were located and whether they were easy to see. They both appeared to be in a hurry and their work showed it. I paid $200 for NOTHING, I could have spent the money at a spa or the mall somewhere. I will not be going back because I don't have that kind of money to lose. read more

I decided to try this place because it was closer to my home and the shop was really nice. The owner was friendly. My appointment was at 1:00pm but no one started on my hair until 3:00pm because she was finishing up someone else's hair and then had to eat lunch. I got crochet braids for $150! My hair came out!! I have worn crochet braids 2x in the past and my hair has never came out until I went to this place. The cornrows were too small and some of the hair was knotted sloppy. The crochet braids did look good but my hair came out. While getting my hair done I also witnessed a customer come in and complain that some of her Senegalese twist fell out after 2 days!! I should have kept going to Super Braids in Arlington. They do a way better job with crochet braids, have cheaper prices and I was in and out in in 2 hrs vs 5hrs at FP. read more

They did a awesome job, the ladies were professional and courteous. They offer refreshments and wi-fi. They did not braid tight at all and I got Box Braids. Stay AWAY from this place... Take this advise, because I learned the hard way. I normally get my hair braided every year mainly in the summer when it is so " HOT" in Dallas. During my first experience it was great! I got my hair in Havana Twist by the owners wife and then I got a re-touch a month later by the same person. I was told by Seido the owner that for a re-touch and take down it was 0.30 percent from the original price I paid. So the original price was 160.00 to get my hair done and then the retouch was 0.30 percent from the 160.00 so I paid 48.00 for the re-touch. FYI a re-touch at this braiding place is only the perimeter which is only 2 rows around. The owner is Seido Afia and it seems as now there is a salon manager by the name of Mary, who is always there answering the phone. She is rude, unfriendly, unprofessional, and unethical. During my second time at the salon, I noticed the unfriendly service, but I never said anything about it. I got senegalese twist for 220.00 dollars by Nadean and I gave a tip and she braided my strands, which I noticed when the braided hair was sliding down and the roots showed. When I noticed it I called the salon, and of course spoke with Mary. She asked me to come by the salon so she could take a look at it. When I arrived Mary said. "Oh My God" I need to take this out because if I do not your hair will fall out. In my mind I was like, "what" OMG. She told me to come back at 10am the next day so she could redo the edges a little bigger. The next day I showed up at 10am and the salon was closed. I called her phone number and she answered and said "OMG, what time is it" ... I was like "REALLY" she told me to come at 10am and she is not even here. She told me she lives in Fort Worth so it will take about an hour for her to get to the salon. I informed her I will return at 4pm or 5pm that day. She said it was okay. I arrived again at 5pm a girl was in the salon, I asked her where was Mary and she told me Mary was next door getting her nails done. She called her, and Mary informed another girl to do my hair. I was told Mary was going to do it. So the other girl only did the back of my hair. I told her you are to do the front also. She called Mary and she informed me we only spoke on doing the back. I was like NO, you we're suppose to do some of the front as well... So she took out 2 braids in the front and re-twisted it. I left the salon..... Now it's 1 month and 4 days and my hair needs a re-touch. I called to schedule an appointment and she told me the price is 80.00 dollars.... I told her I'm suppose to pay 0.30 percent from 220.00. So the price would be 66.00 dollars not 80.00 dollars. When she started arguing with me I asked her for the owners phone number. She told me NO, then hung-up the phone. I called back and got a loud noise in my ear. She called me back like five minutes later. I informed her how rude that was to hung-up on a client. I also told her that she was acting like I was wanting a free service which I was not asking for. Then when I told her that .... I asked again for Seido Afia direct telephone number. She told me that he is not the owner and he is a friend of the business not the owner. She told me that he hired her to help the business because they were on the road to bankrupt and she came to help them out... So with that comment she stated, she is not the owner. She also told me that she have to charge the 80.00 dollars because some of the girls that work at the salon never like to come to work because they are not getting paid...... R E A L L Y... Why is she telling me this, I really do not care. Later in the call she told me that she will just charge me 70.00 dollars, like she is doing me a favor. Bottom line this business is not to be trusted.... Mr. Seido, if you read this which I hope... You need to take over again full-time because Mary is NOT doing a good job. I do not have a problem with paying what I need to, in order to get my hair done, as you see I already paid 220.00 dollars in the beginning, and that is not cheap... And 80.00 would be nothing as well, but on YELP it shows the re-touch percentages .... Mary is a lair, and not to be trusted... I took my daughter to fine plats for medium box braids. The price was great! The ship is very clean which is VERY important to me. The quality was good and the braids looked very nice. Most importantly they do not braid too tight like most African hair braiding shops. One small complaint is that they seemed to have mixed 2 types of hair in her braids, one of good quality and one wasn't. Other than that I would recommend them to anyone looking to have their hair braided. She and I both will actually be visiting them again very soon. read more
