Love the food. The best lemon tart I have ever had. Their soups are incredible. All the food is great!

Nice little cafe. The food is pretty average and compares to other establishments in Bracebridge. Seating is uncomfortable.

On a warm sunny afternoon, sitting outside the patio area does give you a nice view of the river. But when it is cold and windy, the small cozy interior is more welcoming with the cottage country decor. Lunch Menu items we ordered to shared: Oven Roasted Garlic and Goat Cheese Crostini ($13.95) Pasta Tree Rigatoni Entree ($24.95) Farm to table fresh ingredients. Price is reasonable and portion is big. Service is welcoming. Kitchen is a little slow even when the restaurant is empty. So make sure you schedule enough time for lunch or dinner. Homey experience and worth supporting smaller business in the area.

The ambiance of the restaurant was quite nice - from the historical plaques near the building it looks like it was from an old mill. The music was nice and peaceful and the restaurant had about 6-7 other tables dining besides us. There was one waitstaff in addition to the two chefs. We ordered: - Pan Seared Foie Gras w/ Crustini and Mixed Greens - Crackling Skin Chicken - Braised Lamb Shank - Flour-less Chocolate Cake The food all tasted very good and to our satisfaction. We could taste the freshness of the greens and local ingredients used. Also the portions were generous and the quality of the food was top notch. The lamb shank was very tender and moist - and easily flaked off nicely from the bone. The gravy/sauce went well with the garlic-mashed potatoes and the carrots/asparagus to add additional flavour. -3 STARS: While the dining experience, including the food and our service from the young lad of a waiter was good, my partner and I left with an overall NEGATIVE experience - overshadowed specifically due to us being avoided by the Chef throughout the night. Specifically, through the evening, we could see and hear one of the chefs coming out and going around to check-in with each of the tables and striking up (lengthy at times) conversation with each table. The place is cozy/intimate and our table was situated directly in the middle so it was impossible not to hear this around. We were literally the only table where she did not come by, say a single word to us, despite passing right beside our table on multiple occasions. We found that to be very very odd and it truly made us feel unwelcome and unwilling to ever return or recommend this to friends or family ever. It would be nice to get a response / explanation if there is one, but this was a feeling that both of us could not shake even for a few days following, and being back in Toronto.

I had my initial hesitations thinking it might be some basic pub food. Who knew this restaurant out in Gravenhurst is better than many Toronto restaurants in the city. One of my fav meals in a while. This Oar recently undergone a new concept change to Lamorna. While they still kept the Oar as their name given the familiarity and reputation of the previous restaurant concept, the menu and indoor decor has completely changed with a new chef in the last couple months. The menu is farm to table and it rotates weekly, and I can really taste the difference, which explains the more premium but reasonable price. Note a burger will always be on the menu and we really like their dry age burger, rich and the accompanying (what looks like hand/in-house cut) fries are so delicious, I wouldn't mind ordering more on the side. We also dined at their outdoor patio so our pups could dine with us. They so kindly brought over a water bowl for the dogs too! Towards the end of the meal, chef Ben came out personally to greet us and we can feel the passion and care he puts into his food. We asked about how he came to this restaurant and his inspo for his food and he told us it's from his travels. eg. why the schnitzel is thicker because he enjoys the thick katsu he had from Japan. He told us he recently sold two of his restaurants and decided to head up this restaurant after his travels. The chef actually goes around and sources ingredients directly from the farms and locally. We also appreciated the fresh pasta and thick cut schnitzel. We also absolutely love the eggplant and the croquettes too. Actually everything we had was a highlight and that's rare for me to find all the dishes impressive at a restaurant. Highly recommend order their bread service so you can use the bread to clean up the sauces from the remaining plates, as it's not included by default. I also love the charm of the plates and cutlery. They open a box of different knives you can pick a knife to use all vintage/second-hand and gave the feel that it's from grandma's home. Highly recommend this spot! The attention to detail, quality and personal service makes this spot special.

All of us were delightfully surprised by the food and the overall experience. They had picnic tables on the patio and plenty of tables/booths inside + a bright large enclosed room beside the patio. Service was warm and friendly, who was attentive to my son and my family. She recommended the burger. They patty was grounded in house and seasoned perfectly and you can choose the fries, salad or daily soup as a side. You can also upgrade to poutine or onion rings (which looked good from a nearby table). Spring salad was well presented and fresh. Prices were higher than comparative restaurants in Toronto (eg Poutine is $15) but it feels like everything in Muskoka is pricier! A gem in Gravenhurst, I would recommend to stop by on your way in/out of Muskoka! It's also right across the street from Sawdust Brewery if you fancy a brew before or after!
