First off, let me say that it is an absolute must to go with a tour company. There's literally over 100 different wineries in the region so you definitely need someone to help bring you to the best ones. I mean... who wants to drive and follow waze when you can chill out in the back, laugh, and blast your music while someone else does the driving? I think it's a bonus that they allow you to play ur iPhone over the bus speakers so that you can jam out to your own stuff. We got Dave as our driver and he was patient, super duper friendly, and never made us feel "rushed". He was on our schedule as opposed to other tours that I been on where you're being herded like cattle. I think he kinda chuckled when my playlist when from some hardcore rap to the spice girls. What can I say? I'm well rounded. I highly recommend having a decent breakfast before setting out on a full day of wine tasting. It definitely helps get you going for the day. We went during peak travel season so it was pretty busy. But the weather was amazing and the views breathtaking. Worth every penny (and they are inexpensive!) We met this lovely couple on the tour who told us to try the winter off-season when it's less crowded so that we can have meet and chat with the winemakers themselves during our tasting. I've never done wine tours in the winter so we'll definitely be back next time and make a nice ski trip out of it as well.

With the casino closing we decided to call D&G. This guy was excellent he was able to take us to our hotel with no issues, we had been looking for some sort of transportation an hour prior to D&G saving us! He picked up the phone right away and gave us an estimated time, I am so grateful they were around and open it seemed like a New Year's not too many people were open including taxis and Uber's. They thought of everything one would need to have a great, relaxing time. A gourmet breakfast was served every morning in an open air pavilion. ( I am a retired chef and was very impressed by how delicious and beautifully presented the plates were).In the evening, Jeff would start a roaring fire in the fire pit and Rainey would serve fancy marshmallows for the guests to enjoy. They even provided gas grills and and all the utensils you would need. They really thought of everything to make you stay easy and fun. They were so friendly and easy to talk to. I feel like I knew them for years. The tents are well spaced and you have plenty of privacy. They are beautifully decorated and the bed was fabulous. I loved falling to sleep to the sounds of frogs singing every evening. The location is near many attractions such as wineries, lakes and a water park only a short 15- 30 minutes away. We are already making plans to return next summer and I can't wait. If you want to relax in nature without all the hassles of camping, than this is the perfect place for you.

The home is a beautifully restored and dates to the early 19th century. The guest rooms (stayed in the Carson room) were wonderfully furnished and exceptionally comfortable. Our room's bathroom is one of the finest of any place I have ever stayed. They have anticipated every possible need, from q-tips and cotton balls in the bathroom to a stocked fridge with beer, soda and water. A remarkable room. The food both days we stayed was also terrific. Especially the Eggs Benedict (one of my favorites), which was as good as I have ever had. But what I think sets this place a part is the hospitality. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt as if we were valued friends that came for a visit. We were met on the porch when we arrived. Introduced to other guest who were in the library. And promptly offered a glass of wine. While enjoying two glasses of wine with our hosts, they made suggestions (great ones at that) for dinner that night and the next and then called and made the reservations for us. After dinner on the first night, we joined our hosts and other guests for drinks and champagne to toast the first anniversary of fellow guest (who stayed at the inn on their wedding night as well). The Inn keepers provided the champagne (and wine) and had cute anniversary glasses for the toast. We sat talking to the other guests and hosts as if we had been old friends, well into the night. The second night after returning from a birthday celebration dinner for my girlfriend, we were surprised with one of the best chocolate cakes I have had. Kathryn is such a gracious host, making sure every detail is just right and offering advice of things to do and places to see. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was amazing and different each morning of our stay. In the evenings, we enjoyed her company as we wound down from our busy day. She is a big fan of The Voice and one evening we all got caught up on the current season! Canandaigua is a great location and has great options for dining in the area and Kathryn is very knowledgeable of the latest and greatest. We found steering it easiest using a left hip to stabilize and adjust the tiller. The fridge, stove, lights, heads, sinks all worked perfectly. It was easy to dump the waste water at Newark and Clyde and there were sites at other stops. Electric hookups were widely available. Going five miles an hour for a week is an amazing way to recalibrate. We enjoyed the blue heron repeatedly flying in front of the boat, landing, and then taking off again. There were an amazing number of bald eagles and kingfishers. The first lock was exciting but we had no problems. And we passed 22 locks before we redocked at Hidden Harbor. Gary is a pleasure to work with. His instructions were couched in stories with humor, so they were easy to remember. Enjoy!

The owner was aware of this and expected us to spend part of our 3-day trip going out of our way to pump out the tanks, which really cut into our plans. The bow thrusters didn't work, which made it extremely hard (and sometimes unsafe) for us as beginners to handle such a long canal boat through locks and docks. On top of that, the bikes listed in the rental weren't there, and instead of the promised refrigerator, we were given a cooler with ice. While the owner did have explanations for these issues, he never gave us a heads-up before we arrived, nor did he offer any partial or full refund. Between the missing amenities, broken equipment, and the sewage issue, the whole trip fell far short of what was advertised, and we returned the boat after one day. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this rental.
