    View from the covered porch

This is the most charming neighborhood tavern . The food is terrific and there is a wide variety of local beer and wine. The interior is warm and welcoming and the view overlooking the Chemung River from the covered deck is beautiful, particularly at sunset. Heaters and a propane fireplace make it cozy even when it gets chilly. We have been here several times and it is consistently good. The staff is always attentive. Chef Glenn made grilled chicken wings. The grilling gave the wings a nice flavor and we choose traditional buffalo sauce. The blue cheese dressing was delicious with tons of blue cheese chunks. YUM. The spinach artichoke dip is also delicious. Wish there was more of it. The PRETZEL is enormous! Crisp outside and fluffy inside with a generous sprinkle of salt. The pretzel comes with a nice mustard sauce, a cheese sauce and nutella. 3 of us shared this pretzel it is that big! And the best for last..... PICKLE PIZZA! It is actually Glenns Pickle flatbread. dont knock it until you've tried it! Of course you need to like dill pickles! Dont miss the little gem if you are in the Elmira area!

We heard that we should drop by on our recent trip to Elmira and we were not disappointed. Fantastic beer selection (and it seemed the same for the wine selection but cannot comment as we only had beer) and the beer options seemed to be constantly rotated which is great. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We would love to visit again!

Amazing spot in Elmira. Really great beer selection and the staff and owner were wonderful. Got the triple dip platter and wow it was delicious. The building is new and clean and really is a gem in the Elmira area. Must visit if in the area!

There are dinner specials every day. Great hot dogs, and lots of pickle (get it, Pic for pickle) containing items. They have a pickle section on the menu. I liked their deviled eggs! My husband had a chili dog. The chili sauce is all seasoned meat, not runny at all. It was very tasty. Hot dog was cooked so it was a little brown--perfect in his opinion. I had the fish dinner with a broiled or baked haddock (excellently cooked with Cajun seasoning), coleslaw and Mac & Cheese. The Mac & Cheese was amongst the best I've ever had. Atmosphere in the main area of the pub was nice, dark. There's a lower level that sort of wraps around the main part of the pub (that's a little different) and it has dart boards for those who play darts. Service was excellent. I think there was only 2 waitresses on the night we went. Quiara(pronounced key-R-ra) was excellent and kitchen was prompt. Ok, not as prompt as a place that feeds kids, but pretty darn close!

The owner is wicked nice and very knowledgeable. The place is pretty small but he packs alot of stuff in there. The prices are pretty reasonable. The place usually looks closed but I think that is because he is usually next door, but when you ring the doorbell which seems to be connected to the house next door he usually comes right over to open the place up. Not sure if he has regular hours so it couldn't hurt to give the place a call before heading over.

His prices are definitely reasonable and as an example, I was in the market for new carboys ( 5 & 6.5 gal ) to use as primary and secondary fermenters. I looked online and I did find them a few dollars cheaper. Then I calculated shipping costs and the store beat the best I could find by over $10. Along with a variety of DME and LME... if you're doing whole grain brewing or just need / want specialty grain for your recipe - chances are that he will have it. The only thing I've gone looking for that he didn't have available was smoked grains ( UK Peated ). The only "complaint" I have is a bit of a lack of variety for yeast strains that the store has in stock. If you're looking for something suitable for a pale ale, IPA or something along those lines - he'll have you covered. If you're looking for an abbey ale or even a lager strain then it can be hit or miss. So that's my "complaint" and there is a reason that word is in quotes. The thing is that he does a monthly order for his store and if you have a yeast strain you want that he isn't currently carrying - you can order and he'll get it for you. Its not just yeast either... if you want to order some 55 lb bags of grain then he is more than happy to take care of that too... or pretty much anything else his distributor(s) carry. The other nice thing about the shop is that the owner is a very experienced home brewer himself and as mentioned by the other reviewer, a nice guy. That means if you're new to home brewing, he is more than happy to help and he will not try to oversell you. The only downside is that if you're an experienced home brewer and start talking recipes or technique - that 5 minute trip to pick up a few ingredients can easily turn into an hour long venture. That's not necessarily a bad thing though.

I decided to give this place a try given that I can easily walk there, and I am glad I did. I'll say, it's better than any I've had while I lived in Florida, and rivals some of the best I've had in backyards of Friends in my home state of Tx. The batter encased the fish and maintained its crunch, while the fish itself was stayed moist and flaky throughout the meal, which is a difficult feat to accomplish. Especially when you consider the mountain of fries cooked crispy just like I asked, and the plate of onion rings that had the most satisfying crunch. Everything was seasoned properly, and most importantly, they had Heinz ketchup. The service was excellent, and I wish I was better with names as I would thank them. The music was a little loud for my liking, but it was good music that listen to, however it's a sports bar and grill and it was a Friday night, if I wanted something with a cozier ambiance I should have went there instead. So, I won't let my personal volume preferences determine what a sports bar and grill should do. Despite the volume, I could still hear myself think and have a conversation on the phone with no problem. I myself am just sensitive to noise. So where do I rank the meal, I would give it a 4.2 of 5. Considering that I am an excellent home cook and rarely find a place where they serve something I couldn't prepare better myself, this is an excellent score. Also considering I've been on this quest for 6 or seven years now, this is one of the highest ratings I've given. I will definitely be returning, and will assess again to make sure that score was not a "fluke."
