I called to make arrangements and was told that I can no longer have my appointment with my provider if I don't pay the balance in full. I tried to explain my situation and I haven't had any problems until now. So needless to say my appointment was canceled and I can no longer get medication for depression, anxiety, etc. I understand that they have a job to do and they need to collect the money. They have lost their compassion annd empathy for people who are going through troubles during this difficult time in our economy. I asked the person answering the phone to please check with the office manager and get back with me to let me know if she's willing to make any arrangements. I never got a phone call. I called back again tried to make more arrangements was told my appointment was canceled. I asked again if they could please speak with the manager give me a call back to see if there is anything we can do to work this out! No return call! I called and asked if they could get a message to the doctor because coming off of this medicine can be dangerous. I was told I'd get a return call back. Once again, no call back. It is not OK to treat people this way. I have no access to getting my prescriptions. I'm surprised there's not a law against this. I normally don't write bad reviews, but they left me no choice. The office manager is the one who runs the front desk! if I had the money I would have paid them. I am not one who skipped out on paying my bills. I know how important these appointments are. Because of this experience, I will no longer be using this establishment.

To anyone reading this review thinking about starting analysis or finding a new mental health…read moreprovider, it's great you're deciding to seek treatment. That being said, I would recommend finding someone else. Working with Joseph Lee set me back in my recovery. I'm still working on recovering from the trauma inflicted by working with him. In retrospect, the problems were obvious from the beginning. Joseph was insulting and condescending. He responded badly to emotional situations, consistently forgot important things about my life, and refused to take responsibility for himself whenever his actions caused harm, choosing instead to attack me or blame his unconscious mind when his conduct was problematic. He fundamentally did not understand me or hear the things I was trying to communicate, and didn't seem to care when I mentioned this. It's unfortunate this type of inadequate provider is able to continue working in the mental health field, since clients often don't know what a healthy relationship looks like. The power dynamic gives the analyst the ability to do real harm if they mistreat their clients. However, like many people with traumatic backgrounds, when the treatment was unsuccessful I assumed the problem must be with me. I didn't want to be a quitter so I tried to work harder and stick it out. When I tried discussing specific problems with Joseph, he became defensive and evasive. He is unwilling (or possibly unable) to apologize when his behavior is harmful and blames his mistakes on the client. This is especially damaging behavior for a therapist, as the inability of the therapist to acknowledge their mistakes results in gaslighting and retraumatization for the client. While there were many problematic areas of conduct, this is the central cause of Joseph's failure. His unwillingness to take responsibility for himself, to acknowledge and apologize when his behavior causes harm, or to make meaningful improvements, makes him unfit to be a mental health provider. I hope readers of this review can learn from my mistakes. If you feel like the relationship with your mental health provider isn't working, if they invoke transference as an excuse for their own actions, if they don't handle emotional situations well, if you aren't making progress, or if you feel unheard, misunderstood, or patronized, trust those feelings. Your therapist will never tell you they're doing a bad job. They will, however, be happy to continue taking your money. Also, remember you should feel comfortable bringing up constructive criticism with your therapist. If they get defensive, avoid responsibility, blame you, twist your words, or completely ignore your criticism or requests, that's a valid reason to seek therapy elsewhere. You have to remember people....it's a for profit business. They require a profit to pay therapists and staff and keep the lights on.
