I was surprised to see a sazerac on the cocktail menu (the vibes are more basic bar beverages) but it is indeed on the menu. I ordered it and it was a beautifully rendered sazerac. For our appetizer we ordered and enjoyed the burrata. The burrata was creamy, delicate, and balsamic drizzled. It's served with small garlic toast and was a wonderful start to the meal. For my main, I got the caesar salad with salmon added. The caesar was chopped (no overly large leaves of romaine to contend with), crisp, and perfectly dressed. The addition grilled salmon topped it off to make a wonderful and filling meal. The service was attentive and efficient. The atmosphere is deceptive-at first glance it has a basic sports bar dining room vibe--but, check out the sunken fireplace with soft bench seating. I ended up ordering the three piece beer battered perch with potato pancakes for the side and wings for an appetizer with half Cajun dry rub and half Jamaican BBQ jerk sauce. I thought it was interesting that the jerk sauce was specifically labeled as "Jamaican BBQ jerk" and it ended up being an accurate description. It was more BBQ flavored than jerk flavored and had almost no heat to it like jerk normal does. The Cajun rub, on the other hand, had great heat and Cajun flavor. The jerk sauce wasn't bad, but my preference was the Cajun rub. In a picture I saw of the potato pancakes they looked like they were Italian breaded, similar to mozzarella sticks. Again, I was intrigued. Unfortunately, the pancakes didn't live up to my expectations. The breading didn't have much Italian seasoning and the pancakes were like mashed potatoes formed into disks rather than more common potato pancakes that are shredded potato flavored with onion. The pancakes were my least favorite part of the meal. The perch didn't taste like yellow lake perch and was probably something cheaper like pike perch. Even though I did like the beer batter, it wasn't exactly was I was hoping for when I ordered perch, but it wasn't bad.

The bar was nowhere near slammed -- maybe 30% capacity -- yet the staff seemed lost and confused, and the service was painfully slow. No real attempt at customer service from anyone. This was our fifth visit, so I'm not writing this lightly. I don't know if ownership changed or something happened behind the scenes, but the place we used to enjoy is gone. We had a couple of sandwiches and an appetizer, and asking for a second beer felt like too much to handle. Hope they figure it out. We won't be rushing back.
