Stopped into Contento after an event next door because it appeared tables were open and last year when we walked by it was beyond packed so we were hopeful for a table this time. Found out tables were only available via reservation which I thought was a bit odd for a Mexican restaurant but we were offered a seat at the bar so we jumped on that. Inside the decor was festive with a number of Frida pictures and great wallpaper in the restroom. We ordered guacamole and tacos. The guacamole came out quickly and was tasty, with a slightly sweet twist due to the pomegranate seeds and chips just as I like them. I ordered the milwalke and manolos bam bam tacos. I preferred the bam bam because it was filled a bit more but I didn't love the mayo based sauce on either. I would've preferred that on the side or, even better, an offering of salsa instead. I would've loved to review their salsa but only heard about it as I was finished up and it was offered to the couple sitting next to us at the bar. I wanted to like this more but a number of things prohibit me from giving it 5 stars. The day we went in, the only available seats were at the bar. I was thinking this was a good sign. Busy restaurant, great things are in store. We were greeted by friendly bartenders but after dropping off water, took them a long time to come back around to take our order. When they did came back, it was to ask us to accommodate another couple at the bar by sliding over, rather than take our order. Eventually we ordered, guac of course and a few tacos each. The guac came out super quick, which was a good thing because the tacos took forever, like 30 minutes or more. Which for tacos, should never take that long. We also had to ask for napkins and utensils at this time. The food showed up, quesa-birria and the brisket. The brisket taco was excellent. If I come back, I'll order those. The birria was soggy and lacked the crispiness expected from something called birria. Even tho there was consomme called out in the description, non was provided. What made it worse is when the food was delivered to a couple near by, they were offered salsa and all the things. Felt like we missed out on things. It should have been better. First time visiting Contento. Located in beautiful downtown Delafield. Nicely decorated inside with a huge lighted sign on the wall - TACOS. We were seated promptly and the place was almost full for Saturday dinner. After a short wait, they brought us table waters and left a large bottle of water for refills. I was a little disappointed that they didn't get us started with chips and salsa as is typical for most Mexican restaurants. They have a nice liquor selection and an expanded page of a variety of Tequilas and specialty margaritas. The menu is limited to only one page but focuses on a nice variety of appetizers, Tacos and meals. For starters, we ordered the Chips and pico de gallo. The pico was very fresh and tasty and came with a generous portion of tortilla chips. For dinner, we ordered 3 tacos each - Manolos Bam Bam chicken tacos, Milwalke taco, Shrimp cilantro tacos, and the Quasi birria taco. When they arrived they seemed pretty small but our eyes were bigger than our stomach. Each soft corn tortilla taco was loaded with the selected meat and accompanied toppings. Each one was very delicious with generous amounts of chicken, shrimp, and steak with just the right amount of spice. After 3 of them I was stuffed! For dessert, we tried the stuffed Churros which were lightly coated with cinnamon and came with 2 dipping sauces of chocolate and creamy donut glaze. So good! It's been a while since we made it back to Contento, and on a Saturday at 4:30 the place was already packed, with lots of reservations on the list. We chose to sit at the bar and Kevin did a great job taking care of us. A quick drink and small plate dinner and the evening was perfect. So, lesson to learn: make a reservation if you want a table. Finally got to this place as I've heard so much about it! What a great vibe when you walk in. Outdoor and aesthetically pleasing indoor seating with a really cool vibe and bar. I opted for the appetizer of stuffed peppers which were perfectly cooked and stuffed. Mexican corn was one of the best I've ever had in the state. This is a trendy, low key spot with bar seating and table seating both indoor and outdoor. My jalapeño margarita was the perfect blend of spicy and salty. Guac with pomegranate seeds and chips were very yummy and the salsas were a bit hit or miss with our table. Oh my goodness what an amazing addition to the restaurant scene in downtown Delafield. I've had my eyes on this place for a while and we were so happy to finally have the chance to stop in! This feels like an upscale place if you love Mexican food but want elevated ambiance. The tacos we ordered were all incredible. The flavor profiles are unique yet familiar - delicious and creative twists to Mexican cuisine. The mango fish taco was by far my favorite: fresh, light, sweet and spicy - so good!! And the lavender flan was the creamiest flan I've ever had. My husband and I also agreed these were also the best margaritas we've had from a local restaurant. We're new parents and brought our infant for the night out - sincere thank you on behalf of all parents looking for clean and functional changing spaces in the bathroom. We really appreciated how clean the bathrooms were, and how nice the changing station was so I could quick do what we needed to do and go back to enjoying our meal. This has all the feelings of a wine bar, not a Mexican restaurant. The queso had corn in it, which is an instant turn off for me. If there was more flavor, it might have made up for it. I would like to think I am a connoisseur of Mexican food. I grew up in Southern California, and have travelled extensively in Mexico, and frankly - just love Mexican food. Contento is the closest to eating in Mexico that I have seen in Wisconsin. Simple, fresh ingredients that speak for themselves. It's not similar to most of the Mexican food in Southern Wisconsin - a lot of which has been Americanized and diluted with lower quality ingredients so that "more" ingredients and larger plates become the norm. The pico was delicious and mine was well spiced. It was some of the best I have had. The Pollo Caliente was well seasoned, though not particularly spicy to my pallet. But the shining star of the experience was the service. PJ was our server and she delivers a 5 star experience in what I would call a casual dining environment. She was literally one of the best servers I have ever had. If you're looking for super large portions that are dumbed down with Sysco ingredients, I would pass. If you are looking for an experience that you would get actually in Mexico - look no further. And if you're lucky enough to get PJ - treat her well - she's a gem! read more

Shrimp taco had cut up pieces, not cleaned, and overcooked and very tough in texture. Street corn was just ok. Guacamole was also just ok. Really nothing stood out as great or even very good. Will try again to check out more of a range of the taco-dominated menu, since so many good reviews, but our experience so far, when they were not too busy on a Thursday afternoon, was not very good. When Manolo had to close Los Paisa in Bayside I thought we would never have Bam Bam style tacos ever again. I thought I would never get to have his abuela's sauce, or have a tequila with him again. He promised a new place would open eventually, but the restaurant business is fickle and difficult and I wasn't sure it would materialize. But through a lot of hard work and determination a new version of our beloved Los Paisa was born. It's an entirely new take on things, with a mostly new menu and new drinks. Some favorites are there and some new ones too. It's only been open a few days but so far the food is top notch and the atmosphere is upbeat and inviting. I miss the coziness of the old location but look forward to seeing what this new space can become. The food was as good as ever and some of the new drinks were fun and refreshing (though a bit on the small side if I'm being honest). I'm holding my judgement until I have them all, because some are actually pretty great and quite appropriate at that size. So maybe I just need to see them all first. That said this was a great new place with awesome food and drinks. My 11 year old foodie loved every bite and can't wait to come back. I don't know what more I could ask for personally. read more

Elevated tacos and tequila place right in downtown Delafield. Has a slightly wider Mexican food menu but the main focus is the tacos and tequila and they did not disappoint. Started with the guacamole and chips, and the street corn. Very nice flavor on the guac, and the guacamole is garnished with pomegranate for a bit different take. The street corn was done just right and super tasty but a bit messy, the corn cob pieces should be served on sticks or the corn off the cob. Had a margarita and it was delish. Had an assortment of tacos for the main, the "Milwalke", the beef brisket and the bam bam chicken. They were all good and the namesake Milwalke taco was the standout, wow, that was great. Our server Dawson was friendly. Nice decor inside fitting the concept with some Frida Kahlo images and other bits. Good sized with a lot of seating and a decent sized bar too. We read the 5-star reviews and just had to try Contento. Really nice to have a new Mexican food place in Lake Country! Great drink menu with fair prices. Generous serving of chips and pico de gallo. There are no other options for salsa which was surprising. Tacos were served on blue corn soft shells but on the cool side. Great flavor on the Chicken Bam Bam tacos; shrimp was very overdone on both the taco and Shrimp Bayside entre, which my husband ordered. The shrimp entre was served in a white sauce that lacked any flavor and the shrimp was way too overdone! The "house potatoes" were nothing special. Kind of like a soggy potato chip and really skimpy portion.We decided to get additional tacos - the brisket (good flavor but dry) and the flank steak. Flank steak had great flavor topped with delicious guacamole. Overall, we would recommend sticking with the taco options. Server Presley was kind and attentive. The owner checked in with us (after our request) and was also polite. He said he would buy us a drink if/when we came again.
