the only reason they are getting one star is because I have to give one. My husband and I have been calling for 6 months or more for a blue velvet. The owner specifically told us he would hold one for us even though they don't typically do holds. We offered to pay in advance and were told not to worry about it because we had been calling weekly. My husband told him we would be in around 12:30. We arrived at 12:17 only to be told he sold them all and they had been open for 45 minutes and they had been busy. The owner acknowledged he told my husband he would hold one and barely offered an apology. We drive over an hour to this establishment. On multiple occasions had to wait long waits for salt water to be mixed. People waited on before us that arrived after us only to sell what we had been waiting for out from under us. The owners attitude is subpar at best and zero accountability when they or their employees make mistakes or offer incorrect information. If you want a crappy attitude with zero customer service skills then this is the place for you. If not I would shop elsewhere especially if you have to travel any sort of distance. Shipping may be cheaper from elsewhere at this point and at least you know your items are secured. We won't be returning! read more

I called because the store promotes maintenance, set-up, and other services in addition to selling fish and corals. I was told Paul does in-home services to help set-up-, who I believe was the previous owner or still works for Fintastic Aquarium. Regardless, I felt by going through their services I would be provided by someone that has some sense of professionalism and reliability. Paul finally called me to set-up a date and time and we had a 15 minute discussion about what I wanted for my 225g tank. He had the attention span of an ant and I guess he didn't take any notes. The day before he was supposed to come over, I messaged him asking if he needed certain materials for the salt water tank. He responded a few hours later saying he was confused and thought it was for freshwater. I asked if we were still on for meeting up because I took the day off from work. He completely ghosted me and never replied. A complete waste of time and appalled by his unprofessionalism. I should have known better because Paul had a similar review on Thumbtack. Worst retail experience I've ever had bar none. Called. Ahead, came in, picked a few fish, didn't encounter an employee for 10-20 minutes said I was interested in a few fish and they just.... Walked away. A second employee showed up and guestruing at a barebones display Me : "is this foxface for sale?" Them:"no its a display" They'd said this with so much disgust and hostility I was taken aback and kind of disengaged thinking they must not wokr there as no addressing a pretty reasonable question with that level of agression and disdain was super unprofessional. They kept staring at me so I looked and saw they had a bucket. "do yo u work here?" I asked. "yes"..... ME: "hey I see you have a bucket when you're done could you have someone help me" Them "this domineering thing you have going on isn't going to work for me, you control yourself and no one else here" do not reccomend. read more

Have gotten two clowns and several corals over last few weeks and all are doing great. They have great selection of fish, and haven't seen any dead or unhealthy fish there. Prices are great for both coral and fish. Clean up crew prices are amazing. You can also get RODI water and salt water. The dry goods selection is small which understandable for small store. Staff if very friendly and owner when there takes time to talk with customers which is awesome. read more

I could never give this place enough good praises. They are wonderful. Always quick to give a fellow reefer advice without judgement. They have beautiful corals and a wide variety of fish and inverts. They even have some equipment and chemicals near the checkout. They have the best prices on all things saltwater in the area. Great selection of larger salt fish. Very generous supply of corals and frags. Fish look really healthy and well fed. No signs of disease on livestock. The shop is very clean and doesn't stink at all. Staff was pretty knowledgeable about all. Much younger gentleman that assisted my wife and I, was very helpful and informative. My husband is new to this hobby and decided to buy a yellow tang, he was silly and did not quarantine it before putting it in the tank, not sure if this place quarantines their fish either, anyhow our sweet tang ended up having black ich, not nice at all, so it will need treating now. read more

I generally think most if not all LFS get three stars automatically but why the extra star? I do like that they have an email list that can tell you what fish they have in stock. Coral is a bit amiss sometimes but whatever. Good frozen fish and coral food selection. They have a restroom! Displays look very nice almost too enticing to get something here. Expanding their fw side. Some shortcomings- Understaffed some times. The hardwares are lacking but if you like Seachem products then sure. Go right ahead. Water prices are average. I get my RODI from Whole Foods... Like many other LFSs quarantine your animals. It doesn't matter where you get them. read more

I was in Fintastic recently and saw that they had a lot of dead fish in the tanks. I asked why and they said they just went through a management/ownership change. This place has gone down the toilet since it first opened and has gotten worse and worse every time I have been in there. He manager is flat out nasty to customers and has been heard cursing at customers in the store. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. read more

The owner of Fintastic has gone out of his way to provide me with exceptional customer service with a challenging order. I had an expensive aquarium system that was delivered at a far later date than the manufacturer originally stated (to no fault of Fintastic) and Paul put forth a lot of effort on my behalf to make the experience positive for me as the customer. Outside that experience I've been buying coral and fish from him from for many years and he keeps a constant replenishment of quality stock. If you are a reef keeper in the area get on the email list, see what's come in that week and visit the shop. This is the type of LFS you want in your area. read more

Went in today and all the fish were sick. I saw handfuls of dead fish being thrown away due to illness. Horrible customer service. Never seen that before here. The new owner needs to take care of the fish and the customers. No worries I won't be back. read more

I have an LFS literally walkable distance from my home but I would rather drive an hour away to go to a REAL LFS like Fintastic then waste my time at that establishment. Their fish are healthy and their coral is well priced. They always have nice new livestock coming in every week. The folks that work there are always willing to help you and the best thing is that they do not talk down on you with any kind of superior knowledge attitude. Their store is smaller than their previous establishment but I can't complain because there IS a store that we can actually go to again. Take all my money! read more

Decent selection and prices but customer service when I shop there has been horrible from ownership on down on two occasions I was told "They are all the same" swoop a net in the tank and bag fish up had to ask them to take unwanted fish out of the bag and pick others I wanted originally, Needless to say won't be returning here read more

I purchased a setup from here and was new to the hobby. At first they were helpful but got a lot of conflicting information when I asked questions. As the year went on I must have purchased 12 to 20 fish that never made it passed 24 to 48 hours even though I dropped them in per Fintastic's instructions. When I asked what I could be doing wrong I was told "well, these are wild animals." I had even gotten frustrated to the point of asking how do I sell the tank and was told they would give me a free cleaning and evaluation (never happened). Was also told I would get a discount on restocking the tank the one time when everything died (also never happened). I have also been there more times than I can remember either to get water or something else and they did have any water when I or someone else needed it. Excuse is always we needed it for this or for that. Supplies are also hit or miss (mostly miss). I am now doing my business with their competitor or online for my supplies and fish. Unless you are spending $5,000+ or want them to do full service of your tank I would go somewhere else. read more
