Ericka performed the majority of my initial appointment to prepare for my root canal, and it went by quickly and efficiently. She's a pleasure to talk to and she clearly explained my case and alongside Dr. West, explained the plan for the root canal My root canal performed by Dr. West was ENTIRELY pain free. I was very comfortable during the whole procedure and could tell that he was being very thorough. It is evident that he takes tremendous pride in his work, and he has a beautiful office and practice to show for it. It's definitely no accident that his team is comprised of the kind, communicative people I had the pleasure of interacting with; dental work/root canals can be stressful, but I never once felt stressed in his team's care. The billing department was simple to work with and handled my insurance seamlessly. Rio called me to assure all my information was correct and to had a quote of my bill in time for me to review before my appointment. She had clear numbers outlined for me and helped me devise a simple payment plan for my treatment. From walking in to leaving, my appointments here have been so smooth and professional. I was originally referred from my dentist at Stadium Dental and am so happy that I scheduled with Dr. West!

This place was promising until I sat in the chair. It was I and another patient in the next chair the Dr was seeing. We both had gotten numb at the same time since I was first appointment they worked on me first. BUT THEN the Dr and assistant left mid extraction and helped the other patient with his full treatment (extraction and bone density). Yup, the Dr said 'oh it's starting to get loose.' The Assistant put gauze in my mouth then they left me for the other patients whole service. Couple mins later, I began to feel pain and my gauze is filled with saliva and blood. I've been left mid extraction for 10+ mins tears rolling down my cheeks and they have not noticed. I try to get their attention but they are not looking even when I make grunting noises due to the pain. Since the Dr and assistant wasn't paying any mind to me, I had to text my bf who was in the waiting room to ask the front desk to tell the Dr that I'm in pain. The front desk lady did, she came to me and said 'They'll get to you when they find a break with the other patient.' LIKE WHAT? I finally got the assistant's attention couple mins after the front desk lady, but the assistant said the same thing, 'when we find a break we'll numb you' while I'm here in pain. I didn't pay hundreds of dollars to be left mid service and to be given this type of treatment especially in an emergency situation. All they kept saying is that they're coming. This was the WORST extraction I have ever ever experienced. What Dr leaves a patient mid extraction whilst the tooth is already pulled out of the crevice yet hanging and not fully removed. 20+mins later in pain and AFTER they had completed the other patient's WHOLE extraction and bone density treatment is when Dr comes back to me as I was wiping away tears. I was still very kind and patient even though I wanted to just leave and cry. But how could I when she had already 'halfway-ish' pulled the tooth out but not completely. Overall, very stressful experience. I feel like my blood pressure raised due to this appointment.. The area is very sore due to all the tugging, pushing and pulling. More sore than when I had a tooth extracted on the opposite side couple months before. I have never had a bad service like this before with any dentist I've had in the past. I thought it would be better than Dr Foto but oh goodness was I wrong. The staff and Dr Hsieh are so sweet too! They are very patient and hilarious. They have amazing personalities and the Dr made me feel so safe in the beginning. I had asked for her advice on what to do with my problem. I trusted her. That's what sucks, I love them but how my treatment went was just horrible and traumatizing.... The office is clean and plenty of parking. Clean restroom too. Pay out of pocket prices *tooth #3 extraction + gingivitis treatment- $522 *Bone density treatment- $99 *Check up Fee- $69 (I came from the FedWay ER location and they had my X-rays already. But due to it being a different Dr, they charged me again.) **they also provide payment plans with interest

Then, during the same visit, he changed direction and said it might be another tooth. The diagnosis felt all over the place. He recommended pulling tooth #30, and if that did not solve the pain, possibly pulling another tooth next. That is extremely concerning when tooth removal is permanent. Thankfully, we got a second opinion. The new dentist and even his assistant immediately identified the real issue on the X-ray at the root area of the painful tooth. A root canal was needed, with no extractions required. If we had trusted Dr. Marfo's recommendation, my family member could have had teeth pulled unnecessarily, followed by bone grafts, post work, cost, and pain/suffering while the actual problem was left untreated. Based on this experience, I have no confidence in his judgment or treatment planning.

I came back out to the front to schedule my next appointment. They informed me that my insurance was maxed. She advised me if I wanted to wait a few months until my insurance is renewed. I opted to do so because I couldn't afford to pay out of pocket. 2 weeks later, I received a bill in the mail for my visit. For some reason, they did not inform me in person that there would be a cost on top of my insurance. I called the billing department and asked why I wasn't I informed in person that there was going to be a cost? I would have refused service and waited if I had known. She immediately took off $100 off the bill. I told her it was still too much. She kept stating that they don't have to tell us the cost, that it was my responsibility to know my insurance and I need cover the cost. Her name was Marcia, a financial consultant. I asked for a manager, she stated she was the manager. I told her it was unlawful for them to not inform me of the cost. Washington state has a No Suprise Act, which requires a medical facility to give a "Good Faith Estimate" at the time of treatment. As soon as I brought up the law, she says "whatever, we'll just write it off" and hung up the phone. She was very rude and shows zero empathy to patients. They use greedy and shady tactics to make as much money as possible. They do not care for their patients

We made it through the root canal and I went home and slept. When I woke and my numbing had wore off, I was having intense pain still with cold that was lingering. I called the after hours line and the man I spoke with made me feel like it was no big deal. I asked if a root may have been missed, he said that's not possible(which I found to be a weird answer). He said I need to give it time and they would get back to me next week. He didn't specify a time, made no priority to get me scheduled. I asked if it would be Monday, he said he thinks the dentist who worked on me was not in till Tuesday. He told me that narcotic pain meds would not help my pain at all, only ibeprofen would. I was already taking max amount ibuprofen and Tylenol and still in so much pain. I insisted on stronger meds which he eventually agreed to. They do in fact help significantly. It's now Monday and I've been in pain all weekend and barely was able to sleep last night. I am supposed to wait till tomorrow I guess to hopefully hear from someone? I'm a mother and I work and this pain in my tooth has been going on for a couple weeks now and I'm just feeling so wore out from the care and the run around I feel like I'm getting. I have had other root canals and never had pain after. I called to get into the endodontist I went to for my last one because it was a much better experience overall. I'm giving two starts because the endodontist who worked on me was nice in person.

I scheduled an appointment for my wife and daughter for April 13, 2021. My wife and I arrived and signed in. We were temperature checked-no problem. My wife then sat down in the waiting room to fill out the new patient form. She was the only patient in the waiting room. She began to fill out the form but her glasses fogged up so she lowered her mask to clear them and continued to fill out the form. The clerk left her desk, and all of a sudden Dr. Powell appeared. With no preamble or introduction he told my wife she would have to leave, and he would not be serving her. She asked why, and he said it was because she took her mask off. He was very aggressive, telling her she had to leave and he would not be serving her. My wife had put her mask on, and was now angry, but she tried to explain the logic of the situation: 1) There was no one else there. 2) We'd both been checked and our temperature was fine (CDC criteria) 3) He was going to be taking her mask off anyway to check her tooth, (Painful molar). In addition she added that she had a condition which caused wearing a mask to cause great anxiety because of multiple assaults, (she is diagnosed with PTSD from service in the military when she was assaulted multiple times, gagged, tied up and raped back in the early 80's when women were not welcome in the military). Dr. Powell raised his voice and yelled, "I don't care! Get out or I will call the police!" I've never seen a Doctor that angry. He had a complete meltdown. The best description I can use is "hateful." He actually appeared to hate us. Then he turned on me. I'm also a veteran, and as angry as I was at this point, I didn't want to escalate the situation. I told him to leave the room, and my wife and I discussed whether to call the police ourselves. After a few moments we decided to leave and write a review. I have truly never experienced anything like this from a doctor in my 59 years. My daughter had a later appointment, and I called her. She was already on the way, and because she had a very serious problem with a tooth she wanted to try it anyway--she'd been waiting ten days for an appointment. She got to the clinic but Dr. Powell had locked the doors and left. He didn't even have the courtesy to call her and cancel the appointment. So this is how Dr. Powell treats people who come to him for sedation dentistry. Does he realize that people who pay for these procedures come to him because they are already nervous about the pain levels and discomfort of normal dentistry? Apparently he does not empathize with his patients and has no respect for people in general. I've never experienced anything like this from a doctor. Even Dr. House on TV had better bedside manner!

The rest was a great and personalized experience! The front office staff was kind and welcoming! Great customer service and incredibly welcoming. Susan was my "nurse" for the visit and I am so glad to have been able to connect on a personal level. Susan was informative, patient and very understanding of my anxiety. She walked me through EACH AND EVERY step. No surprises! Once the initial consultation was done Susan brought in Dr. Powell and we discussed everything. An exam and review with both provider and support staff. I WAS AMAZED at how comfortable they made me. I didn't feel like "just another patient". This was a personal experience that will keep me coming back. Cleaning, extraction, fillings...all using sedation. This is a option for people just like me! It feels wonderful to know, I'm not the only one with a fear of dentistry!
