Throughout her stay, Annie Mendoza treated both my grandmother and our family with very little respect. Whenever we needed assistance, she often rolled her eyes or made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. During my grandmother's two-week stay, she wandered out of her room without our knowledge. We were not informed until the following day. At that point, Annie told us that a family member would have to stay with my grandmother 24/7, which we did not believe was an appropriate or acceptable solution. It felt like we had to fight to get even basic care and assistance for my grandmother. When our requests were finally addressed, they were often met with a rude attitude. We also spoke with the director, Gloria McGinnis, regarding our concerns. Unfortunately, we felt that our concerns were not taken seriously, and no meaningful effort was made to address the way some staff members interacted with patients and their families. On a positive note, Blue and Rhonda provided outstanding care. They were compassionate, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about my grandmother's health and well-being. We are very grateful for the kindness they showed her. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this facility to families seeking compassionate, respectful care for their loved ones.

She was in Dallas for acute care and was discharged to Abilene rehab facility where she started her rehabilitation. After about 6 weeks and slow progress, it was suggested by the therapists that she would benefit from being transferred to TLC, a post acute brain injury rehab center. Our family was somewhat cold to the idea but since our insurance approved it, why not give it a try? On the 2nd day at TLC, my wife was walking with minimal assistance!!! We were happy and extremely impressed at her progress. Counting 6 weeks now, she is walking on her own, feeding herself, and gaining her weight back. This place is where miracles happen. We cannot say enough thanks to the wonderful staff. We need more places like this in Texas.

I moved from the east coast which wasn't an easy decision for me to make but the folks over at stages made that transition less difficult as they became family to me. I can honestly say that stages made more of a positive impact on my life than anywhere I had been before. I don't know how to be grateful enough for the people at stages because without them my life would not be where it is today!

I highly recommend The Ranch at Dovetree especially for those with trauma, like me, that deal with more than just an addiction. Good insurance is recommended but it's worth the price for what you get in return. Not everyone's sobriety is permanent nor is it promised, but that is the person's responsibility to use the tools given to them, Dovetree can only give you these tools and show you how to use them. They were as happy to see me go as I was to go, but they were going to discharge two dementia patients who had nowhere else to go. If you do end up with a loved one here, be vigilant. Visit every day and ask questions. Better yet, just don't use this place. It ended up being a nightmare for us.

This facility required the full month payment for my cousin in advance so my aunt paid it immediately. My cousin had cancer and the facility could not manage his pain. His doctor gave instructions to transport him to the emergency room via ambulance. When I relayed the instructions to the nurse I was yelled at and told that I needed to let her do her job and that my cousin did not need to go to the emergency room. She stated she had 30 years experience, she's a nurse and she knows when a patient needs to go to the emergency room. That night my cousin's pain was unmanageable at their facility and suffered dearly throughout the night. The next morning the facility transported him to his doctor appointment and the doctor's office immediately sent him to the emergency room. My cousin never went back to Southern Specialty and four months later, my aunt has not received a reimbursement for the days she had prepaid. We have called for two months regarding the reimbursement and have only received the run around. I personally have spoken with Brittany and Raymond regarding this matter and have been promised they would follow up and return my phone calls. Not one phone call was ever returned. As of today, Brittany informed me that the account had been "zeroed" out and I needed to contact corporate to speak with Vivian. Of course, I had to leave a voice mail message.
