There are a lot of operations around that claim to teach defensive firearms use. Many are run by "Mall Rangers" who are legends in their own minds. This is not one. Marty and Gila Hayes have put together a quality world-class operation in the Northwest. When I started my first class, I was not at all familiar with firearms. I didn't know how little I knew about firearms but, more importantly, the legal aspects of self defense. Using a combination of their own experience in law enforcement, the input of a number of nationally-known instructors, and Marty's legal education. A cadre of instructors with a number of different backgrounds have been assembled to give the students a good background in fundamentals and specialized shooting. Whether a new shooter or an experienced shooter looking to hone and refresh skills, FAS is a great resource.

After completing the safety video we paid our fee and the entered the rifle side of the range. A quick explanation of setting up the target with a choice of distances from 25 yds out to 300 yards. The range officers were very helpful and professional. They helped with sight adjustment on a new scope. The range was clean and safety was always a concern from the RSO's. The grandsons had a great time and learned more about firearm safety and safe shooting practices. Will return again with some handguns to try out the pistol side of the facility.

Saw they forgot to turn yellow flashing light when going hot while complaining on me that I put two very small targets side by side. They should be ashamed of their own unsafe behavior. Btw I do think it"s only one rangemaster who is behaving like that. Before facing dishonest behavior from his side myself I did visited them multiple times and it's only one rangemaster who behave like a real a**hole. He's really doing good job noticing unsafe behavior but he is a real jerk and annoys people too. Whoever needs to find out the rude rangemaster just need to look at 01/04/26 date and review footage. Good thing you do have cameras there and figure out who's in charge and why he is jerk.

Tacoma Rifle & Revolver Club was very welcoming, we have had help when needed from member and that is awesome! The Range safety officers are amazing, and we have even become friends with one of them. The club offers access for other than shooting fire arms, they have classes, they have Archery, Air Guns, an area for Rv's. For firearms enthusiasts there are center fire matches, bench rest matches, .22 rim fire matches, a mid week shooting league, a women's pistol league and much more. The range is safe, the facilities are clean, and the people are worth getting to know.

I'd have to join to see the range. I'm not paying over $150 just to get a look at the place. As it happens, I found out later that I can sign up for new member orientation to see the place before paying for a year's membership. If only their rep had said that. Or he might have told me about any of the events coming up that were open to the public (as audience). I may check the place out again. I may change my review. As far as the people whinging about the noise - they were here first. Be mad at the real estate developers that put in entire neighborhoods next door. And next time, do your due diligence.
