Sorry to have to crush the shining 5 star reviews, but they are not as glossy as it seems. I have had multiple issues with this company and even dealing directly with the owner that didn't work. There were multiple times they tried to get the tile to look right and it didn't happen after 2 or 3 try's. This is a deal breaker when you are on a strict timeline for a extremely high end project. Lastly they might want to learn to not send out tiles that have been freshly submerged in Enhancer pro when they know the had to be installed only hours later. Huge headache one after the other! read more

Beautifully hand crafted tile and exceptional customer service! I recently used the tile for two wall backsplashes in a vintage-style kitchen. Gary Porter was a big help and showed me the library selections of relief tiles for the border. Since everything is hand made, there was an error in the sizing, but the issue was quickly resolved. In my search for recycled tile I found Fire Clay. Their website is well organized and staff is very attentive responding to any question I had. They delivered in the time indicated. The tile is beautiful. There was a worry by my installer as the wave tile did not match exactly so the spacing between tiles varied. Fire Clay reassured us that once the grout was in it would look just fine.....and it does. It looks terrific! I am very pleased with this company and the results. read more

You can really feel the craftsmanship in their products and they look fantastic in my home. After going to a dozen different showrooms, I felt like everything looked the same, but Fireclay had a more unique feel and the tiles really looked special. Highly recommend Fireclay. Their tiles are beautiful! We ordered tiles from Fireclay for a small bathroom project. I went to their showroom in San Francisco and Grace at the showroom helped me with design ideas with colors, kind of tiles, and the edge finish options. She then did the rendering for me to visualize the project. Tiles look even better once installed and we are happy with the result. The sales and support staff were very helpful throughout the order and production process. They included extra tiles to our order and we had quite a bit of extra left after the job was completed. Make sure you take the lead time into account for your project since it takes 6 - 8 weeks to get your order delivered. Visited their showroom in the design district of San Francisco. The designer is extremely pleasant and knowledgable on the product. The colors and selection at Fireclay are amazing. It is a small company, the founder is a ceramicist and personally develops their unique products. Most of the products are ordered and made from the factory, and take several weeks, but for a unique, green, high quality, fantastic tile, Fireclay is the best. I'm SO pleased with the quality of Fireclay tiles and their customer service. Our project is a beach house and I'd like it to have an urban/industrial feel. Some of the ceramic tiles have even coloration but for our bathrooms I'd like some variation. I found it in cyclone and slate blue. I think the thin brick (in cotton) will look amazing in the kitchen instead of standard subway tile. read more

We had the best experience from Fireclay from start to finish. After doing nothing to our home for 8 years, we finally took the plunge for some more serious renovations. We had walked in to some other tile stores and felt overwhelmed by their products, layout, and never found anything that really resonated with us. We had heard about Fireclay from a friend and were so glad we went from the moment we walked in. Jane helped us out right away, and really listened and came up with some beautiful combinations and really helped us design our kitchen backsplash. She has such a good design sense and really helped us capture our wish for something whimsical, modern, happy and soothing:) Their tiles come in so many beautiful shapes, sizes, and colors. They give you samples to take home and offer free renderings. We brought our drawings in and they were able to give us renderings of four different options. We chose our favorite and the ordering experience was easy and pleasant. Their tile definitely takes about 10 weeks to custom make, and while the wait seemed a bit long, it was totally worth it. We have a kitchen that is unique and special and really fits us. And, while we found design decisions overwhelming at many other stores, Fireclay and Jane made it super fun and easy. I discovered Fireclay by chance. I was new to the city, was renovating my kitchen, was walking around near the store in SF, and wandered in because I knew I'd need tile. First, I met Caitlyn, who was so friendly and helpful that I was hooked on the place. I wanted the glass tile. Caitlyn was transitioning to a different position off the showroom, so I began working with Wendy over the next couple of months. As my contractor slowly plodded on, I stopped in at the store to try out different color configurations. Wendy was always super friendly and helpful, as was everyone there. I had to worry whether they wondered if I was ever going to purchase anything and stop taking samples home. I was finally close to the point where the tile was needed. Wendy was dubious about the color configuration I'd put together, and was never afraid to offer candid and great advice. She knows her stuff and has a very good eye. She steered me toward fireclay tile rather than glass for this project. Gary--also terrific and always friendly--helped whenever I came in and Wendy was busy. He helped set up the order. Several nights before installation, my gut told me I needed variation in my pattern. Of course I knew to call Wendy and I asked her if I could buy any gray tiles quickly, so that I could intersperse them with my cream tiles. She said it would take too long to make them for my timeline, but she told me to come in and she showed me how to do a stain, which they do as a product, but since there was no time to have it done, I would have to do it myself. Wendy even helped! Long story short, that stain was the perfect solution. The tiles came out incredibly well and saved my project. No company that I've ever encountered has been so helpful and accommodating. Wendy was over-the-top helpful, genuine, and caring. My contractor had heard of the quality of their products, but his reaction sums up the outcome: "It was the beautiful Fireclay tiles that did it in the end." Love love love my Fireclay tile used to remodel a 1924 bathroom. But even if you love a product, sometimes the experience of dealing with the company itself can cast a pall on your overall enthusiasm. Not so with Fireclay. I had one of the best customer service experiences ever. I worked with Gary Porter, who came to my house, analyzed my needs, and wrote them up that afternoon. When the specs changed, he quickly adjusted. And I had my tile within the 3 weeks that they promised. He as a great communicator and answered all my questions and calmed my concerns. I make tile tables so have dealt with a lot of tile companies over the years and Fireclay was by far the best. And their tile is spectacular, both the recycled glass and the regular porcelain. It probably costs a bit more than the average tile, but it is well worth it.
