I would give them a no-star if I could. I booked with a third party company and paid for insurance. I went to the airport to pick up the rental. They told me I had to pay for their insurance even though I paid for insurance already. I explain to the lady that we already paid. She didn't care whatsoever and told me it's policy that I had to take out their insurance. There is non choice here. They either put a hold of $400 or a hold of $2000 depending on the insurance. I didn't argue because I understand policy, but I told her this would have been nice to know before booking. She said "It's not our problem you can't read". I was shocked. I told I can read and that none of this was explained in the contract I had. After some back and forth, I caved because I wanted to enjoy my trip. I handed her my American Express (which they accept) and she pretended to run it and told me (very loudly and in front of other customers) "your card doesn't work because their is no money in it, you can't rent stuff if you're broke". I was shocked. I told her to run it again since that card has no credit limit. She pretended to do it again and I saw her not run it correctly. I told her to do it right and she told me they don't accept American Express. Before it got nasty, I caved again and told her to run another card. It worked fine since she swiped it correctly. As we left, I asked about return procedures. She told me to come back and leave it where I picked it up. I told her I'd have to be back at the airport at 5am and she said someone will before here. That was another lie. They don't open until 9am. And the return spot is a different side of the lot. I reported this to their customer service team. It's been 3 months and they don't even address the issue. They just say that the case is closed. I'm not even going to go into detail on how messed up that is. Overall, horrific experience. I'll never be using Firefly or Hertz ever again. read more

Booked through a third party company and got a great rate. Then when I took the car back there was a queue of about thirty people waiting to be served. I eventually got the front and handed back the keys, which they accepted after a cursory look at the contract. Stupid me, not to stick around for a few minutes and check the fuel level, time etc A week later I saw that Firefly had charged $200 to my credit card. I disputed this charge, other than about $50 for rental of two child car seats for the week. Customer service took THREE MONTHS to get back to me and when they did they said that I had returned the car a day late, and that it needed to be refueled. This came as a surprise to me, because I had filled the tank at a petrol station inside Barcelona airport, less than a mile from the Firefly office where I returned the car, on time. Bottom line, they will try to squeeze every last penny from you, and when they can't, they will lie and steal. And because I paid for the fuel in cash, like an idiot, I have no way of proving that I returned the car on time and full of petrol. DO NOT HIRE A CAR FROM THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE THIEVES. read more

Please be extremely careful with this company as they are professional scammers and blackmailers. This is what happened to me: - They asked me to deliver the tank empty so that they would refill it for me and charge me 60 € for the gasoline plus 32€ for administration plus VAT. - They offered new to deduct the 32€ plus VAT if I would contract an upgraded insurance for 130€. - I said I did not want it and they asked me for a deposit of 1.127 EUR to cover wha ever damage, even if it was caused by another car. - I said I did not want it in any case and requested to charge the deposit and go ahead. They said my credit card was not working but with the insurance I did not need any deposit. I called my credit card company which informed me that they were filling in wrongly the expire date (clearly on purpose). - They finally charged the deposit and then they asked me to sign the document where the current damages of the car are shown. I request to check the car first but they deny and say it is the policy of the company. - Some new clients get in the shop and I tell them to be careful with this company. Then they cancel my reservation but still charge me the rental fee for all days. Incredible that there are still companies like this. Embarrassing! read more

WARNING Firefly car rental avoid. Hidden costs. I rented a car (airport Barcelona). I waited in line for an hour. I paid online for rent, plus extra scratch insurance all together 150 £. additional extra costs are £ 230 at the airport when taking the car. For when you give an empty fuel tank plus an extra £ 17 for the service+ petrol. I got an old fiat of more than 70,000 km. it was not until washer fluid, did not work lighter entrance to the phone charger and GPS. additionally they take money from the account for what has already paid online. mnir they charged double. FireFly cheating people, without information hidden costs before you rent a car online.I rented a car several times with other frim and have never had such problems, paid only when ordering online, no hidden costs. so online and paid £ 150 and they were take extra £ 230 from your credit card. This was the WORST car rental experience I ever had. I will never return to reserve a car in Firefly !! And I will tell all my friends not to do so. It is indecent, shameful and little honest having to pay more than three times the amount contracted via online, to lift a car. A foreign country, having already paid the reservation (and no back guarantee) I had no choice but to follow through with the rental. Curious that during the time I was waiting to be served (over an hour), I saw three customers complain is the same: The amount requested to be far superior to the contracted online. Two of them have not advanced to the rental. I had no choice. One customer left the stand asking the clerk, "you are not ashamed to do this kind of work." It's embarrassing, and typical of a third world country, the type of service provided by this car rental agency. At least that was my experience in Barcelona in June 2015. read more

Hi, here is my very bad experience with Firefly El Prat Agency, Terminal 2 Barcelone airport : I did not listen to the advice and review you can read on them, I paid a very high price for not following the advice NOT to go there. this is how they do it ; First you pay online price (for me 106 €) for 3 days rental. Then you go at the desk, the contract isn't good, something missing (for me the credit card and driver licence did not match) you are charged all over again 137 €, this new price is supposed to include full premium insurance. On top of that a 150 € of deposit is charged just in case. I had the unfortune to experience a problem, due to confusion on fuel - which is clearly COVERED by the premium assurance general clause. They don't care and charge another whopping 220 euros for this problem ; all in all I paid 626 euros to Firefly service. The problem is once you are down there at El Prat Firefly agency everything is organized so you are going to be charged, knowing, as international traveller, you won't come back to complain. I sincerely regret having business with this company, NEVER AGAIN, be ADVISED, this is REAL, they will overcharge you. read more

Stay away from this company. Like many I was charged for things I strong disagree with. I filled the car up very close to the return and was charged 50 euro for fuel and 20 euro charge then 21% tax on top. They are basically a rip off merchants who charge less up front but put on lots of hidden charges. If you search trust pilot or others you will find this is standard practice by these people. read more

Stay away at all costs. Poor service and deceptive pricing. My personal favorite is the fuel service charge, which can not be avoided in any way . 30 Euro + fuel if you don't return full (pricey but can be explained). But if you do return full it still applies!! The only way to avoid a full-full service charge is to purchase a "freedom pack" which is even more! So no matter what you pay a bogus service charge that is not transparent. Should be part of the stated rate if it can not be avoided. Calculated deception is part of the fun with Firefly. read more
