Please keep in mind that this review is specific to this location and not the brand as a whole. While the Beamer we rented was acceptable, came with the appropriate eco tag to drive through Barcelona during designated times, and the staff ensured all damages were noted before we left the garage (after I insisted they be documented and made a fuss), all aspect of communication along this journey were unacceptable. If there's anything you take from this review, let it be that the publicly listed number for this location is disconnected, and in calling a US line, they will assure you that the Barcelona number is correct, and claim they are unable to help with any requests given the lack of affiliation with the branch in the country of rental. Why does this matter? Breakdown- you're on your own, car stolen- good luck, need to extend or modify your rental- you'll be unable to do so online. Additionally, 15 business days later, this is the second time I've had to call my bank to remove holds the company ensured would be removed after 10 business days. Unresponsive, sketchy, and lack of customer regard does not a great company make. I hope they take the ample feedback provided to heart.

    I would avoid Goldcar Rental due to deceptive practices and overcharging. *** We were overcharged…read moreat the counter $325.79, 72% over what was agreed to when online booking. ** * We were charged a total of $776.41 (after reimbursing prepaid fuel) whereas when we booked the total shown in the reservation confirmation showed a total of $450.62. I booked online with CarRental8, and prepaid 100% insurance to cover any issue. The CarRental8 reservation confirmation for $450.62 was $306.01 prepaid and $144.61 due at pickup (+ prepaid fuel which was reimbursed so not including in this review) = $450.62. This was to cover ALL rental car expenses except fuel. My CarRental8 reservation confirmation included the CDW coverage as well as third-party liability and collision insurance. My CarRental8 agreement stated I had prepaid for "Extra Collision Damage Coverage with Theft Protection and Zero Deductible". We were exhausted after being up for 40 hours related to overnight travel from the US and were coerced into paying additional charges and insurance or having no car. Additionally, the staff at the counter was snarky and rude. We were only the people there, and they ignored us. We walked up to the counter and asked for help, and they insisted we get a ticket from a machine before getting in line. When we returned from our trip and contested this overcharge, we have gotten no results.

    I would give them a no-star if I could. I booked with a…read morethird party company and paid for insurance. I went to the airport to pick up the rental. They told me I had to pay for their insurance even though I paid for insurance already. I explain to the lady that we already paid. She didn't care whatsoever and told me it's policy that I had to take out their insurance. There is non choice here. They either put a hold of $400 or a hold of $2000 depending on the insurance. I didn't argue because I understand policy, but I told her this would have been nice to know before booking. She said "It's not our problem you can't read". I was shocked. I told I can read and that none of this was explained in the contract I had. After some back and forth, I caved because I wanted to enjoy my trip. I handed her my American Express (which they accept) and she pretended to run it and told me (very loudly and in front of other customers) "your card doesn't work because their is no money in it, you can't rent stuff if you're broke". I was shocked. I told her to run it again since that card has no credit limit. She pretended to do it again and I saw her not run it correctly. I told her to do it right and she told me they don't accept American Express. Before it got nasty, I caved again and told her to run another card. It worked fine since she swiped it correctly. As we left, I asked about return procedures. She told me to come back and leave it where I picked it up. I told her I'd have to be back at the airport at 5am and she said someone will before here. That was another lie. They don't open until 9am. And the return spot is a different side of the lot. I reported this to their customer service team. It's been 3 months and they don't even address the issue. They just say that the case is closed. I'm not even going to go into detail on how messed up that is. Overall, horrific experience. I'll never be using Firefly or Hertz ever again.

Once through the booking and then extra (so all the deposited liability) in another bank account from where I did my booking. They've lost my business for good. DO NOT TRUST THEM. CROOKS
