St. Louis ribs were void of meat, baby backs are now off the menu, margarita was all OJ and the sound was ear drum rupturingly loud at $20/ticket. **** instead of asking an unhappy customer to call your ops manager, have your ops manager power up the internet and use it to do better. read more

Meh Located in Marlborough, Firefly's BBQ is a lively, sprawling destination known for its fun, neon-lit atmosphere, live music, and generous portions of Southern-style comfort food. Burnt ends were a 6 out of 10 but the wings just weren't good. I'd give those a 2 out of 10. Wings were flabby, we ordered them well done. Needless to say, they were not. Mhmm BBQ! Got Firefly's delivery for dinner while in the area. I would like to go back and eat there in person, or pick up my own takeout... I ordered the 4 meat platter combo to split with my boyfriend. We did Ribs x2, Pulled Pork, and Brisket for our meats. It comes with cornbread and 2 sides. Picked mac and cheese (of course) and veggies. (And then made some corn on the cob at home) The platter was very generous and had PLENTY for two people and then some! We actually had some leftovers for another sitting, so made 2 meals each. The sides could have been a little bigger, like I wanted more mac and cheese and another piece of cornbread (both finished first night) but hey, I know for next time to maybe get an extra side of it... I got delivery, so time is a factor to consider, but not reflected necessarily on the business - meaning when it was time to eat, it wasnt very hot... this was also on me, so not really a them thing but I think something to keep in mind. Fireflys has a bunch of BBQ sauces, and another factor to consider when doing delivery (at least through apps), is that you're limited to the one option you select and I could have used an extra side of sauce. Now, when ordering you pick a sauce per meat so that could have been a way to try more, but I decided to get the same sauce for all. I went with the Memphis - I liked it. I definitely am interested in trying some of the other sauces too! Now, the meats. The pulled pork and ribs were excellent. I was a little disappointed with the brisket. It was not as tender and yum yum as I was hoping or expecting. I am chalking part of it up to the timing, and think it may be better hot fresh from the kitchen but not sure... they have an upcharge for the brisket, so I definitely expected it to be melt in your mouth good, and it just didnt do that for me. With that said, the ribs and pork definitely made up for it. And again, the serving sizes were very generous!! The mac and cheese was yummy - definitely made note to order an extra side of that. So, all in all - happy with firefly's. Want to go back and either eat in or get it myself for takeout. Want to try more sauces. Loved the pulled pork and ribs. Cornbread was good too! We used Firefly to cater a party at our house. They were VERY easy to work with before the event. They arrived promptly and set up quickly. The food was OUTSTANDING! Everyone raved about all of the dishes. We had ribs, chicken, steak tips, mac and cheese, corn, salads and cornbread. The cornbread should have it's own rave review because it is unbelievable. My personal favorites were, cornbread, ribs (fall off the bone tender), and mac and cheese (and it is delivered with extra cheese sauce which was amazing). Sat down and immediately had the BEST service. Josh was knowledgeable about both the menu and general BBQ while being personable and helpful making menu choices. As a picky BBQ person, the format of choosing your own sauce and getting to try them all, as well as the hot sauce wall made for a fun, customizable experience without feeling like we missed out on anything. Great bbq place with good comfort foods! I always go for the southern porked Mac and cheese. The pulled pork with the Mac and cheese is mouthwatering and pairs very well together. It is a restaurant where I definitely recommend reservations as it is always busy when I dine in. They offer take out as well and a lot of people utilize this service as well. It needs to be updated. It looks like the original furniture. I would give it a complete overhaul. The food deserves a five. I had the beef brisket with two sides. It was more than enough to fill me up. The Cole slaw and cucumber salad were top notch. The sides are always the best. The portion size was huge. I looked at and decided that I had two meals in front of me. I could have had just the sides to satisfy my hunger. My brisket had bark on the outside, smoked to perfection. The pricing was on the high side but it was smoked and the serving size was large. I would give the service a five even though I had to ask for my bill. I was given water and a menu. Well, I have eaten here many times. The kitchen has gone downhill with the food. I ordered a 3 meat combo of fried chicken, St. Louis ribs, brisket with mac and cheese, beans sides. Fried chicken batter not the same I had before .. no southern seasonings now? Dry? A lame small breast, a drumstick dry, cold . Ribs not looking as St. Louis beefy ones I had before. These dry , cold like chicken . Brisket was dry overcooked cold with one piece moist and decent . Mac and cheese was much better in past with stronger cheese flavors. The beans not much flavors, cold . Corn bread ok , but I thought corn bread had sweeter taste last visits. A whipped butter for corn bread would be nice offering I wasn't impressed and likely to be hesitant to return . The food looked, tasted like cooked hours before, and reheated? Chef and kitchen needs to get back to how food was expected by the founder before the founder of restaurant passed away . Nothing worse than cold brisket drying sitting for hours vs coming off the smoker hot like other bbq spots I visit. BT's bbq keep their brisket in hot storage smoker til kitchen slices for plates. The Staff asked three times how all was so they are attentive, but then , so attentiveness is not there is in the kitchen area. Who is watching plates coming out of kitchen for quality control ? I can see why!! So tender, awesome bark and smoke. What a perfect match to the swat salad. Cool, crisp, the pungent blue cheese with the sweet balsamic glaze! 10/10! When she came to ask if there was anything else I wanted I honestly replied "a second stomach" so much great food, she gave me a stoli vanilla with water which was on spot to cut the sweet heat!! Came here after fall festival and was starving. Man the line was long so we decided to do takeout which took 30minutes. Got the picnic for 6. Overall all was okay as the meat was very overcooked/dry for the beef brisket. The pulled pork had a lot of bread at the bottom which made it seemed like there was a lot of pulled pork but just a fluffer. The cornbread and chicken wings were perfection ! The fries were extremely soggy. Wish they gave us more sauce as each sauce they gave was a single cup. which didn't even last two after people took. read more

I don't usually return to update reviews unless I'm changing my rating -- so basically, I'm here to add another five stars (along with a few more photos!). How wonderful that Firefly's isn't just STILL good -- they're even better. Happened to be in the area today and decided to get lunch and grab a take out order of ribs. The food is even better than I remember - the best burger (10 oz) I have had in a long time with homemade chips that are great. Also had green beans so I could pretend I was eating healthy. Really love the ribs, bbq chicken and the pulled pork. The fried chicken, while nice and crispy, is unfortunately on the bland side. I wish the coating had more seasoning. My husband is from Texas, and therefore, extremely picky about his bbq. We recently moved to Framingham from Newton, where our go-to bbq place was Blue Ribbon. We didn't think we'd find a place that could come close, but Firefly's may have exceeded them. We shared a baby back rib half slab, mashed potatoes, catfish bites, Mac & cheese, and OMG the chocolate filled beignets. We got the Texas bbq sauce for the ribs. Everything was absolutely delicious, and my Texan husband gives them an A+. The beignets are supposed to come with 3 dipping sauces - chocolate, caramel, strawberry, but the strawberry was missing. Delicious BBQ with good quick service. Not fancy but clean with a large dining area and plenty of tables even on a busy Saturday night. The 4 of us all had combos. The St. Louis ribs with the Dixie Kiss sauce were a great recommendation from our waitress. The pulled pork and beef brisket were tasty but the ribs were the stars. The sauce choices are fun. The corn bread and the BBQ beans are fabulous. The Mac and cheese was spot on. The homemade potato chips could have been a little less greasy and saltier. I wouldn't order them again. The mashed potatoes and sweet potato fries would have been better choices. We got the brisket which was incredibly tender and flavorful. Our sides were Cole slaw and Mac and cheese which were both very well done. The Cole slaw wasn't too bitter and felt fresh and refreshing. The Mac and cheese had a nice depth to it. The cornbread deserves its own mention because it was so incredibly moist.
