Went to Fitchburg today. This is a brand new Tavern in the Square. It was packed as you would expect from a new place. It was extremely loud. Could not waitress and visa versa. Service is terrible. The staff is very young and they are they are quite inexperienced. This generation has no sense of urgency. They dont care if you watch them take their sweet old time. There is no effort to make the place friendly. read more

We came to this establishment on a recommendation from my hotel desk clerk. We were seated in the back of the restaurant which had the most open tables, but as we found out, we were right next to a wedding shower. Lots of loud laughter and talk. The food was OK. We both had cheeseburgers cooked the way we ordered it medium. They were good. The downside of this review was the noise level in this establishment, very, very loud. We had to ask the waitress to repeat things numerous times over the noise level. The service that we received from our waitress was very good. A solid local chain. I've always had good food at any location. Because of their location, they get mobbed at the usual rush times and days. Ambiance is that of a bustling restaurant. Typical semi industrial style. Lots of displays. Food is a couple notches above other offerings. The broccoli bites were fantastic. Lightly battered, a little crisp. Loved those tots with the chorizo and corn/bean salsa. I had the fish tacos and was very satisfied. Others were very happy with their choices: ahi bowl, salads, and a chicken avocado sandwich. Not cheap. Especially if you like mixed drinks. For five of us, with a good tip for a great server, we spent about $250. read more

I can't get enough of this place. Been going a couple times a month with my lady friend and we have a great date every time. Bang bing broccoli is always so delicious and service is always great. Definitely would recommend this spot for those in the central mass area. Place is so good I might move into the parking lot lol. read more

I was in the area and I decided to stop here for some chicken wings... I sat at the bar and the lady working the bar was really nice and friendly. I got mine with the Bang Bang sauce on the side, so I could meter the amount of sauce on my wings. The sauce was tangy and spicy...really good... The wings were meaty and well seasoned. Had to cancel our group's reservation because we wanted a place to watch the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships on ESPN and confirmed with a manager that they can't show wrestling on their TVs because it is a violent sport. read more

Went here for a really nice casual lunch on Sunday afternoon to catch a bit of the Patriots game and catch up and have a fun conversation. The food was very good. Couple comments, but generally fine. My friends, Tom and Ruth had the Mesquite chicken ball on rice with fresh grilled vegetables with tortilla strips on top. I had a gluten-free chicken Caesar salad. While all three were very good my chicken Caesar salad was a bit on the dry side and so was one of the chicken bowls. Recommend it for sure, great ambience, great to catch a game. Tavern in the Square puts effort into having healthy tasty options. The Bang Bang broccoli is excellent. OK once it's deep fried it's not so healthy but it tastes great and we can pretend! The fish tacos were tasty although I wish they had a little more fish and less cabbage. The salads are good but should have more spinach, kale, butter lettuce, red leaf lettuce, etc instead of just romaine and iceberg. This is a nice open eating area as well. She made a comment that it was my fault and didn't say sorry at all, but i didn't even touch the drink. A group of four of us had reservations on Saturday afternoon and they were PACKED. It seems every time I go, the place is always busy. I'd definitely recommend reservations. I also usually find it usually to park below instead of level with the restaurant. Save yourself time driving around looking for parking. When the server came over to take our drink order (2 cocktails, 2 waters), I swear we didn't get them for at least 20 minutes. I understand the bar being backed up for drinks but water? Little crazy. Luckily, none of us really noticed because it was mom's day out and we were simply enjoying each other's company and catching up. Our gluten free apps came out relatively quick. We got the nachos & fried pickles. Both were delicious! The server did have to come back to our table twice before we put in our order for our main meal because the person who couldn't decide was taking care of their baby. For my entree, I got the fish n'chips. They weren't the best I've had but not the worst. It was a decent sized piece of fish. The fries were just okay though. The apps were definitely the star of the show this time. I did notice they've started brunch on the weekends and I wondering if I should have tried some breakfast food instead. I'll have to check that out some other time. The restaurant was clean and bright. I like the atmosphere. There's a bar in the middle with TVs playing. The bathrooms were also clean (always a good sign). The waitstaff is friendly, our server was able to split our check for each seat & even split the apps by 4. We do tend to come here because one of my friends needs gluten free food & they do a good job with that. Here's the thing: I won a gift card here in a raffle literally March 2020 and didn't get around to using it until literally the day before moving out of Shrewsbury because it was my absolute last chance. As a frequent Whole Foods shopper, I have driven past it innumerable times and was curious and intrigued by how busy this place was even pre-vaccines. Are they serving Jesus Juice or something? I finally got to find out on the night in question. We were seated immediately on a Sunday night at around 7 something. I don't mean to toot my own horn here but I would like to introduce myself as a Tavern in the Square cocktail expert because we have collectively tried three of them and the only reason it was only three is because GF loved my first cocktail, the Stuck On You (ghost tequila, crème de fruits de la Passion, cactus flower, lime, black lava salt rim) so much that she ordered it for her second drink and she's forgetting our fucking mission here. This drink is hot pink, beautiful, tasty, and strong. For her first drink which we can't remember. Nor can we remember my second drink which I think testifies to the strength of their cocktails. We tend to over order but we really outdid ourselves on this particular evening. We ordered, to share, the Bang Bang Broccoli, Southwest Tots, Parmesan Risotto Fritters, Green Goddess Salad, and a side of their mac and cheese. Bang Bang Brocccoli: tempura broccoli, sweet and spicy chili garlic sauce, fried garlic, and scallion. Holy SHIT. This was fucking amazing. The breading was incredible. I tend to be more of a savory vs sweet bitch, especially early in the meal and would have preferred a touch less sweetness but it was still one of my favorite dishes of the meal. Southwest Tots, ordered without bacon to make it vegetarian: fire roasted corn, chipotle ranch, cortina cheese, scallions, cilantro, lime. Slutty AF. Not a diet dish, for sure. It was creamy and comforting. Parmesan Risotto Fritters: peas, lemon, and smoked tomato vinaigrette. Very good but not as aggressive with the peas as I would have liked but the sauce was amazing and overall a solid dish. By this time it was too much but we had a whopper of a salad coming so we had to buckle up and sit back down. Green Goddess Salad: this is a big boy. Romaine, more peas, asparagus, crispy falafel, avocado dressing. Tons of different textures and flavors here with that decadent green goddess dressing we know and love. Mac and cheese: pretty good mac with some crumbs on top if you like that shit. Server left us alone and longing for some service a few times if I remember correctly but it was nothing crazy. Life is Short ...F....it up! Family, Flavor, Friend Looking for a place a to go in a Friday night we decided to check to the new Tavern in the sq Framingham. This used to the be Havard Brewery. Walking the place gives a lively vibe. The space was a indoor outdoor space w large wall size windows that open up. Very spacious and nicely done. Good place for dates. The service was friendly and accommodating. A lot of new ppl in fact it was out servers first night. She did a great job. We started out w the nacho tasty good for sharing. My buddy got the Nashville Hot fried chicken sandwich .. looked really good. I got the Bayou Chicken pasta.. yeah I know I typically review the burger. Thought I switch it up. And I'm glad I did. Good blend of seasoned chicken and everything is good w bacon and Parmesan cream. From the 1st bite it was goodness. I even had it 2 days later and it heats up really well. Brunch on Saturday and Sunday seems a rarity in Metro West, but you can get it at Tavern in the Square. This is very good to know. But, we wanted lunch. I had the Green Goddess Burger (it's sweet potato!) and my partner had a special Thai fried chicken sandwich. The Thai sandwich was hard to eat so they used a knife and fork to eat it. My sweet potato burger had a too generous amount of goddess dressing and whipped feta. I scraped a lot of it off. It was ok, but the texture didn't do it for me. Service was ok. They were busy at lunchtime on a Saturday. We were seated right away and they took our order quickly as well. I ordered tater tots instead of fries, but I got fries anyway. Not a big deal and I would have said something, but a different server delivered our food and took off immediately after placing our food down. The restaurant is good for everyone. Large TVs for sports fans, a kid's menu, fun cocktail options, and a decent dessert selection. The dining room is large and open. It can get very loud, but it's to be expected. I'd go back for a regular burger because they smelled amazing! read more

I was dining alone so I took one of only a few spots left at the bar; it was a Friday night around 6:30. Going downhill Food quality and service are slipping. All their dishes that contain avocado - they don't put avocado in it & try to pass off sliced cucumber. I've called it out last 2 x I've been (ordered tuna stack) and bartender pointed to the cucumber and said it's right there !? & went further saying the meal doesn't contain avocado...so I asked to see a menu and pointed it out. Eventually I did get a side of avocado. But was annoying to have to plead my case to a wise assed bartender to get the meal prepared properly. I visited here last night for a social gathering. They have a nice space for private functions. While we didn't order off the menu, there was a buffet and I absolutely loved the bang bang broccoli. It was a sweet breaded vegetable delight. The quesadilla and the pizza were also pretty good. The service was on the uninspired side but at least she checked on us regularly. I'll have to come back and dine off the menu. The social experience, and the nice ambiance make me definitely want to return. read more

This is one of the coolest restaurants near my place. We have been coming here for quite some time for brunches and dinners. And I can say that it has never disappointed me. They have done good job of covid proofing the seating area. All the servers were mask all the time. Social distancing is followed quite well. If you are going to a same restaurant frequently, then you tend to find your signature order. I have found mine. They serve amazing appetizers. Bang bang broccoli(on the sweeter and tangy side ) is delicious. Buffalo cauliflower is also one my favorites. They have ample of options for salads and sandwiches. One my favorites is Mediterranean chicken. The portion of this sandwich is huge and taste is amazing. My second favorite is cornflake fried chicken sandwich with side of home fries.
