Firefly's gets a thumbs up. There is free valet parking so don't let the full parking lot scare you off. Make reservations the place is always packed. There is an outdoor patio with live music try to sit out there weather permitting. The food is fresh, great selection of BBQ. Great sides, the staff is prompt, kind, and helpful. Prices are good and you get plenty of food. The food is excellent, pulled pork, ribs, BBQ chicken, burgers! All great and great serving sizes. You will not leave hungry. Full bar and plenty to drink. They do have pool tables and live bands on weekends. The bands are pretty darn good to boot!! Imagine that, good food, great service, parking, and great live music. My wife and I have eaten at Firelfy's fairly often in the past few years, and I can state two facts with absolute certainty: 1. We have never had anything less than a stellar meal every time 2. The waitstaff were always courteous, friendly and efficient We like the lounge for its intimate setting, TV's are well placed in the lounge for prime viewing, if we decide to eat in the restaurant, there's more than ample room for everything. We have also taken in a couple of live bands there, in Dante's at Firefly's, and have enjoyed the experience tremendously! Large dance floor, great house sound system, and for the most part, some of the best Boston area bands around. I have to tip my hat to the house sound engineer, who always makes everything sound good! Love Firefly's BBQ and Dante's is a fun live music venue with several pool tables available and seating and dance floor space. Staff is pleasant and waitstaff and bartenders are rock stars! I have enjoyed their food pretty consistently, although I have occasionally experienced a not-as-good-as-last-time brisket...definitely dependable enough, however, that I frequently go there when I'm in the mood for barbeque. I enjoy their Sunday Brunch Buffet as well. It maybe wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but I highly recommend giving it a try. I'm an egg fanatic, so the freshness of the scrambled eggs is pretty much my only "complaint" there. We have been going to Firefly's for about eight years. When you have kids with peanut and tree nut allergies, going out to dinner is not for the faint at heart. When we go there we are confident in two things: 1. our kids will be safe, and 2. our meals will be fantastic. Tonight did not disappoint. Burnt Ends and Jumbo Wings for starters. Texas Brisket is second to none and the Chicken & Waffles are to die for. We left with three take home containers. It is impossible to finish the massive amounts of food they pile on. Best Barbecue in the Northeast for sure. No need for any sauces because Barbecue done with a proper dry rub provides all the great flavor and bark. Sauces are provided for added heat for personal satisfaction. Fireflys has improved over the years and especially the menu items and choices. If I wanted to be real picky about a complaint it would be they dont offer a skewer of jumbo shrimp thats barbecued as well for a kind of surf and turf dish. *: Best barbeque I've found in Eastern Mass. Yes, I pehaps have had some better BBQ in my life, but in hunting around to find good smoked meat in Mass this is the best I've found. Their sauces have a nice variety and the food is always consistently good. I particularly respect their brisket, sausage, fried chicken, cucumber salad, beans and dirty rice, and some of their weekly specials. And, as is a requirement for a 5-start BBQ review, their cornbread is excellent. The service is also friendly and fast. I highly recommend reservations if you're going around dinner time particularly on weekends, and know ahead that parking is limited especially when the patio is open in the summer. There is a valet when they're busy, but given that I'm not a fan of valet parking it can be a challenge to find a spot. read more

Didn't know what to expect... Prepared to be underwhelmed. Heard a lot, knew about the awards, realized the longevity of the establishment... Very good!!! Some of the best wings I've ever had. Crispy, no sog at all, just the right amount of charcoal flavor, meaty, and a nice portion! Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, the classics all 4/5! The fried chicken was INCREDIBLE. I was glad to see effort and care put into one of my favorite foods, when by the book, straight up barbeque of course dominates the menu. The SIDE mac and cheese was average. No breadcrumbs, tasted artificial, and even worse the next day. The GOURMET mac that can double as a meal, did have breadcrumbs, and was better, but still unimpressive. Home made sauces were watery, too similar with one another, and just not broad/versatile enough on the flavor spectrum. They do have a cupboard of sauces in the main dining area from across the world! I did not try any of them but plan to soon. :) Certainly some solid BBQ... Humbly speaking, I would implore management to ramp up the quality of the sides to REALLY separate itself from the pack. Good stuff though. read more

Love the New Orkeans shrimp dish. Friends had salad with steak tips, ribs, and husband had gumbo. Delicious collard greens on the side, mac & cheese, cornbread, and baked beans. Firefly's BBQ is the BEST BBQ I have ever had. We stumbled upon this gem about 6 years ago and have been coming back ever since! It is definitely worth the hour and a half drive. Food is always top notch, we usually order the ribs, which fall right off the bone and are full of taste. The cucumber salad is also a favorite! This is my favorite place to go in Marlborough! They have multiple delicious options. My boyfriend and I usually order the combo for two people which it's affordable and enough for two people to enjoy. They also have this Sunday Brunch that omg you should definitely go !! Their desserts are also one of my favorites haah, and they have live music on the weekends. Every time I go there or order food to pick up the service has been amazing, no complains on that part. Had their catering service today. Very friendly and service was still excellent. Their bbq chicken was a bit dry, but their pull-pork (a la carte or sandwich) was excellent. I have mixed feelings on this place. I've had really great experiences, but also really mediocre visits. Considering I almost always order the same thing (pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese), it's kind of weird to have such a varied experience. Sometimes the food is awesome- well seasoned, cooked to perfection, and a good selection of sauce to top your entree with. Other times, it's not- the food is bland, cooked poorly, and the sauce is lacking. Not sure why there's such a difference in quality. The service (well, delivery of the food) tends to be a little on the slow side, but nothing outrageous. Sitting outside on the deck is a must in the warmer months. Their drink selection isn't bad, though I always find the beer a little warm. We've gone for trivia, as well, and that is well run and fun. I'll probably keep giving them more chances because the food is never out and out bad, but I wish the quality was more consistent. read more

Decided on the 1/3rd rack, because i noticed the size of the portions as they were delivered to nearby diners. I love this place when the food is good and hate it when the food just okay at best. I have come to conclusion from living so close that it is very hit or miss to get good food sometimes getting in as early as possible works but sometimes late at night it is fantastic. I live less than a mile away and this is the place me and the boyfriend go when we just feel like chicken on a waffle. We have eaten ribs and they were good but not as good as the chicken on a waffle. Great experience tonight at Firefly's. Greeted warmly at the door by the staff and as we were being seated the owner walked by and also greeted us. Nice way to start a meal, feeling like your business is appreciated. Upon being seated and drinks being ordered, our friendly waitress placed a delicious, crisp, and fresh tasting cucumber salad on the table. Great balance of vinegar and sweet. We each ordered a drink. If you like delicious fruity drinks, the voodoo juice must be your choice. It was a large drink for a reasonable price. As an appetizer we had crackling bread, which is similar to to flatbread. Crispy bacon and green onions made it a terrific choice. For entrees, we each had a combo plate. I had turkey and baby back ribs with mac and cheese and dirty rice, he had brisket, fried chicken, and baby back ribs. I was torn about ordering anything that says it is smoked, especially one of my favorite proteins, turkey. It was the best meat on the table, it was juicy and had a complimentary hint of smoke. perfection. The ribs were tender, perfectly smoked, and the bark was special. Now to the sides, creamy mac and cheese, perfectly al dente and actually tasted of cheddar and dirty rice and beans that had rich smokiness and meaty, delicious beans. Another phenomenal night at Firefly's on Saturday. Food, service, beverages, entertainment, all impeccable. They really know how to do it right! We had four at the table this time, and split a bunch of apps; each more delicious than the rest. Lots of oooh and ahhh and mmm and OMG's going on around the table. Brisket and ribs over the top tender and flavorful. Might try the specials next time but my old favorites are still so good ... topped off by super light beignets stuffed with chocolate served with dipping sauces and amazing banana cream pie. OMG, yes! Other than Dinosaur BBQ in Rochester, NY, this is the best BBQ we've had up here in the northeast! The beer selection is huge, the bbq is exceptional, the side are all homemade and really well seasoned. One thing that really lets you know (other than the mead being super tender) whether a bbq restaurant knows what they're really doing is whether their cornbread is moist or dry... it's moist and you'll want to order extra because you'll want more! They also had a great range of choices for sauces! From sweet, sweet/tangy, to setting your mouth on fire. :) On top of the great food, they also have a dining room w/ live music and on the other side of a 1/2 wall, a really great sized pool hall so you can play and listen to the great bands they book after dinner. And they do book really good quality bands, have a dance floor that's big enough to fit a lot of people and also important - a great sound system. We went in early winter on a rainy night, but can't wait until we can get back up to MA this summer so we can eat outside in their enclosed patio. We also loved that they have a big popcorn maker in the waiting area, so you can munch on fresh "theatre" popcorn while waiting or after eating when you've danced enough to need a munchie later. This place has definitely become the new family favorite when it has come to take out covid meals. Had our first visit to Firefly's yesterday, big menu/lots of options even for those of us that don't eat beef/pork. Kids loved their kids meals (especially the cookie dessert). I had the yard bird which was very tasty and husband had the 3 meat combo. Called in the order and pick up was very organized and easy. Everything in the order was correct and while it wasn't piping hot it was better than some we've had. We were able to eat it right at the local park less than 3 minutes away. First time eating here and we walked away satisfied. We went on a Friday night and it was busy, but we were seated quickly and service throughout the meal was good. As for the food, i would put it in the standard BBQ category. It was well cooked and had decent flavor, just really not my kind of BBQ. I really prefer a BBQ that is not smothered in sweet tomato BBQ sauces. And that is pretty much what we got here. We ordered the Pulled Pork platter and an order of ribs. The ribs were good, but too sticky for my taste. And the pulled pork was a nice big portion of well cooked pork. Nice and tender with some of the good bark from the outside served over white bread (just how it should be). But it too was mixed with way too much sauce. That is all i tasted was the sauce, not the pork. So decent, but i would prefer a dry rubbed rack of ribs and a pile of pork that i can add my own sauce (and I prefer the spicy vinegar version myself). The sides were quite good. The mac and cheese was good (and happy to see...homemade). Even better with the pulled pork ontop. The Sweet Potato pudding was very good as were the garlic mashed potatoes. But the best was the cucumber salad. Overall was good. just lay off the sauce and i would have been much happier. read more

Great midwestern barbecue hidden away in Massachusetts. Had ribs of course, perfectly cooked and smoked. My favorite sauces were the Memphis and Dixie Kiss. Cole slaw and barbecue beans were both good as well. Banana cream pie for dessert was fabulous!
