Late dinner for us, and from the outside looked very inviting. We were greeted and sat quickly, and had a great server. Really liked the atmosphere. The Ahi tuna sandwich was good as I was able to order it medium, it matched well with the red onions and tomatoes. Restaurant almost dead, at most 5 restaurant-side tables used, and 1 bar side, 85% empty, with at least 4 servers, and door/seat assigner. Server Gab, doesn't want to be there, and her service shows it. Long periods between check ups, refill never showed. Was going to order coffee and dessert, but decided not to, because she didn't want to hear what I had to say, and just left. I was trying to point out the issues with food and service. Started with the French Onion Soup and the Grilled Octopus. The soup had loads of onions but could have been a bit cheesier. The Grilled Octopus was served precut over a salad. Very tasty but could have a bit more octopus for the price. The 14-ounce prime rib was tasty and cut like butter, but as the largest cut they offer, it was a bit small for my NYC standards. The petit filet mignon hit the spot for my better half. The Dutch Apple Pie was delicious. Service was good and the restrooms were clean. Overall, an A-Okay dining experience. read more

Pooh and I ended our stay in Montreal by treating ourselves to a steak dinner. We wanted to stay in downtown Montreal so we opted for the Fire Grill. We started our meal with their Bloody Caesar. It had the right amount of spice for us. When you see the picture, imagine it with a slice of cucumber, a lemon wedge and three olives. I ate the olives and cucumber before snapping the photo Next we each had the Iceberg lettuce salad with blue cheese crumble and avocado ranch dressing with crumbled bacon and fresh chopped tomatoes. I'm not a fan of blue cheese but in this salad it was devine. It paired well with the dressing and bacon. The main course was the Manhattan Peppercorn steak with a lobster tail and mixed veggies. We requested medium-rare for the steak. The steak was more medium at the ends and medium rare in the middle but still delicious and the perfect size. The mixed veg were crispy and the lobster was splendid. The peppercorn sauce was a great compliment to the steak We ate the meal with a bottle of Mirassou Pinot Noir. We ate at the Fire Grill last Saturday, June 1, 2024. I ordered a filet mignon. Instead of being round and thick, as expected, the steak provided was flat, about a half-inch thick and about 5" by 6" in size. It was not a filet mignon. In addition, it was covered in spices, which was not mentioned on the menu, and was blood red even though I had requested medium. Looking back at the menu, I believe that they gave me a Peppercorn Manhattan steak. I sent it back to get more cooking. It arrived back at the table in about 2 minutes, still bleeding. I sent it back again. Once more, it was returned quickly and not cooked medium. I was unhappy and the server agreed with me that the steak was not what was ordered. He said that he talked to the manager, but we heard nothing more. At this point everyone at the table was about through eating so I ate a very expensive mound of mashed potatoes for dinner. At about $50 for a steak dinner, I expected at least something edible. The restaurant made no attempt to rectify the situation and the steak was thrown out. If it was the wrong steak, they either should have replaced it with the filet mignon requested or comped the meal that was not eaten. read more

I sent it back and it was over 20 minutes before i got a replacement. I still had to cut off several pieces of grissle. My wife watched me eat because she had already finished her meal. It came to a rough start. I went up to the hostess desk and she and a waitress looked at me as if I was at the wrong place. Was a little wierd. Got seated and was sooo thirsty. I loved the drink menu that included real Cuban Rum and the Old Cuban is was a special and tasty treat. I also enjoyed the Poutin with short ribs and it was better than most restaurants. The filet mignon was about average and was plated well, although priced pretty high. read more

Menu was typical Midwestern food, nothing exciting Tried the French onion soup, which was average. Not too heavy, plenty of cheese only a few cubes of bread and thinner broth. The roast beet salad was fairly flavorless. The beets were cooked but no means roasted. The nuts were neither candied or salted. The goat cheese was good and plentiful and really provided the only singular flavor. The salad was lightly dressed in a vinaigrette but it was so sparse it could hardly be tasted. This place has the BEST MAC & CHEESE EVER. SUPER BAKED with extra cheese and cooked throughout. The chunks of bacon are just an extra mouthful of greatness. At first when I got here I was going to go for the steak due to the fact that it's a steakhouse but something told me to go for the mac and cheese and I'm ESTATIC I did. I was impressed with the location. Very much a typical American bar/steakhouse joint but it does some dishes better. The prime rib was about average, which is to say pretty good but nothing special. The salad had good helping of goat cheese and a wine vinaigrette on the sweet side that my wife really liked although I thought the combination was a little overwhelming. The shrimp cocktail was deveined well (for a bar place) and was appropriately cooked. The shrimps were pretty big too. The highlight for me was the tiramisu. It was very fluffy and not overly sweet. Best restaurant I ate at while in Montreal. I had grilled shrimp which came with a melted garlic butter that was phenomenal. I am gluten free and the server was knowledgeable that I couldn't have the rice bc it was cooked in a broth that wasn't gluten free. Suggested the garlic mashed potatoes which were great. My wife had salmon which also was excellent. I also ate at "the keg" and preferred this steakhouse. I would go back if I was here another night. read more

Huge disappointment! Was craving for a good Roast Beef today and recently heard how the Firegrill may deliver that. Wrong! Starters were chicken wings which were pretty good. I did find it unusual the order was served within 10 min..hmm. I ordered the Roast Beef medium and it came back well done, I returned it. Second time around wasn't much better. The cut was tough no matter how I ordered it. Not the highlight of the evening. Tiramisu was the dessert which was mediocre. There is nothing extraordinary about this restaurant that I would return. Ordered a couple of appetizers to share. I found it strange that the apps came to the table 10 mins apart. The calamari was mediocre. The batter was too soft and would fall apart when you pick it up. However, the spinach and kale dip was delicious. It was nice and cheesy but not too heavy or lumpy like other places. I had the filet mignon rare and added mushroom sauce on the side for $4, since the steak was not bacon wrapped for flavor. I found $4 a bit steep for a small ramekin of sauce, but I love mushrooms so I thought I'd give it a try. The steak was well cooked but I thought it was a bit bland even with the mushroom sauce. The server was nice but she didn't come around much, so we ended up waiting around for quite a while between courses and picking up the bill. Overall, I would give the place a 2.5 but I rounded it up to 3. It's not bad, but there are better places for a steak. read more

The French onion soup was greasy and salty, I tried one spoon full and that was more than enough for me. I got the ahi tuna for main course, medium rare. The first few bites were ok, but it got more and more salty as I kept on eating. The ribs that my bf ordered was too sweet. However the baked potato was good with bacon, sour cream and green onion. My wedge salad had barely any dressing but way too much blue cheese. And everything seemed to be thrown together with zero thought about how it would look or taste. This restaurant was recommended to us by the concierge at our hotel. It was a great choice, as we were looking for steak. My husband had the steak, it was cooked to perfection. I had the rack of lamb, it was delicious. My son had the ribs and chicken and was well served. I think would be good enough to share for two or a satisfying meal for a growing teenage boy. This is a great steakhouse with lots of selection, nice decor and attentive service. The location is ideal, for being downtown, very accessible (facing Peel metro) yet it's not busy and there's plenty of seating. People aren't swarming here after work for meetings or cocktails. I've been twice so far and was always pleased with the food. Between my partner and I, we've tried the steak, bbq grilled chicken breast, chicken tenders, californian chicken sandwich, shrimp cocktail and desserts like key lime pie (delicious!!) or choco-banana cakes. Compared to other steakhouses, this place has many chicken and seafood dishes, pasta or sandwiches and a lunch menu. Everything is delicious although I find some options quite pricey. If you order a sandwich, it comes by default with fries, replacing that with a salad costs 5.50$ Their fries are shoestring cut and seasoned, which I found a little too salty. Fire Grill is a large,classically styled steak house. We ended you here because my child was tired and hungry & it was there. We were greeted promptly, in a friendly manner. Our waitress approached us quickly and was friendly as well. There is plenty of attractive sounding foods on the menu but we went on the lighter side. Let me say, I liked this place quite a bit, up until the time the food arrived. The dishes all looked wonderful. They arrived quickly and hot. Unfortunately the best dish was the kids mini burgers (which were nice). The chicken club was OK but the "Famous" Chicken Tenders" were a tremendous let down, freshly made but not seasoned at all, totally bland. They were absolutely nothing special. The chicken club was good as were the kids sliders, but nothing was great nor worth returning. Montreal foodie town and there are MUCH better places to dine, skip this one. read more

Service Food 2.5 Had an extremely disappointing experience today. I went with my work colleagues for lunch, ordered the fillet Mignon Lunch menu. Asked to replace the mashed potatoes with vegetables. They charged me an additional $2 for that only to find that I had ONE cauliflower, ONE Broccoli and a tiny slice of pepper. When done, I asked for my coffee which comes with the menu however the waitress told me to wait until all the group were done paying their bills (were about 20 persons) as she could not get it to me before!! Obviously I left without having my coffee since it was pointless to have it after everyone was gone! So bottom line I paid$40 for a tiny piece of meat, two pieces of veggies and no coffee!
