Great dinner at Grinder in Montreal. The burger was delicious. At first it appears small but the patty is so think it will fill you up!!! BUT leave space for dessert. Not sure of the name but it's like pancake with maple syrup and Ice cream. AMAZING. Great service and ambience.

Everything is on point. Music, food, vibes. Just a great atmosphere. Great place to go on the weekends. You won't be disappointed 10/10. Im also from Tx.

Amazing place, if you're not looking for a good time then don't come here.

Ribeye with N'duja butter, side of potatoes "aligot".

Had a special birthday dinner with my husband here, who had made a surprise reservation, based on the recommendation of a local friend. Seated promptly, and had great service throughout. Just enough attention without the server being too intrusive. The atmosphere was great, a kind of Chelsea loft / hipster modern vibe. Ordered the ribeye (15oz) which came with a N'duja butter side for added flavor that was not at all necessary. The steak was cooked and seared to perfection, and was a good cut of beef. This aspect they clearly know what they are doing. Accompanied by some red wine, which was also good. Side dish was potatoes "aligot", which I guess is a fancy way of saying mashed potatoes with aged cheddar. Very nice and creamy/fluffy.

This is a very nice steakhouse. Can't say anything is out of this world but they know what they are doing. The sharing plates are a fantastic deal. Service was spot on and fast. It's an industrial building with a young vibe. I would come back here with the guys again for sure.

    Surf & Turf for Two

On a recent trip to Montreal we decided to try Grinder based on great reviews and we were absolutely not disappointed. We called for a reservation (which is recommended) and were able to sit at the bar at the time we wanted. The bar is super comfortable and spacious and we loved the service. Bartenders were so nice and took great care of us. We ordered the surf and turf for two with a NY strip, lobster tail, shrimp, and scallops. We also had the delicious french fries and mushrooms. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare, as ordered, and the seafood was incredible. The lobster tail literally melted in my mouth! The restaurant has an extensive and good wine list and a full bar. We had a bottle of Chianti to share. It was a perfect date night in Montreal and we are so glad we decided to splurge. This place is a bit on the pricey side, but definitely worth it for a special occasion!

Came here for some good steak when visiting Montréal, not only we had great steak, lobsters, Scallops also enjoyed delicious onion soup, sashimi, dessert and fabulous cocktails. Services was efficient given they were extremely busy. Every table was packed. But still managed to serve the foods and drinks at a reasonable pace. The open kitchen concept was great, small but lively. Bathrooms are tiny. Very European but clean. This place Can get loud but the vibe is super fun. LGBT friendly. Highly recommend.

Surprisingly great steakhouse with seafood options. Recommend the caesar salad, generous portion not drowning in dressing. Good selection of wines by the glass. Tuna tartare had a welcome sweet citrus note. The RIBEYE was AMAZING, cooked perfectly with an amazing sear and flavor (watch out Joe Beef), almost worth 79$. Even thought it was busy on a Tuesday night, service was good and the place was pretty crowded. Definitely a special occasion, hip, and trendy place (mostly because it's expensive). Valet parking available (but we walked).

Rib steak with side mushroom and rappini
    Michael K.

Was in the mood for a great steak. Located on the heart of the city. Street parking was very hard to find but they have valet parking if needed. There is also public transport available. Reservations are must as the place is usually very busy I ordered the in steak with mushrooms and rappini. The rib steak is my favorite cut and asked to have it done to medium. The steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. Can taste the char on the steak. The mushrooms were seasoned very nice and came out hot and was a nice add on to the steak. The downside was the rappini as it was cold and had no seasoning. We had to send back the rappini and we did not want it back. Thé atmosphère is a fun upbeat place and is a great place to go for some good food and a great vibe. Enjoy

We stopped by on the way to Quebec City and I purposely wanted to take a route that didn't go through downtown Montreal. This place has amazing reviews on Google and I was pretty excited. We ordered from the tartare page, 6 oz portions with their various sides. Cauliflower soup was the soup of the day and it was creamy and delicious. Not the strongest flavor but that went well with the tartare. We also tried the rice and homemade chips which were all fantastic compliments for the tartare. I tried the classic beef which was amazing!! My partner ordered the steakhouse beef which he enjoyed but he preferred the classic. My parents also tried the teriyaki tuna and strawberry salmon. Absolutely delicious! The strawberry one is so brightly flavored. They select wonderful toppings to mix into the tartare. I actually ordered a 4oz maple bacon salmon, which I kinda crave now. That was a delicious, smokey, sweet and walnutty flavor. So glad we ordered it as a shared appetizer. Given that nearly everything is raw, it was so quick service. The hostess also learned we didn't speak French and was very very kind to give us an English menu and help explain their specials. They seemed quite busy with online orders but I think thanks to the snow, not many people were dining in. Hopefully they are keeping busy enough because it's delicious foods. Light enough to enjoy without feeling totally stuffed, but substantial enough that you leave satisfied. Definitely gotta make this our regular stop

Normally, the price is $26 so that's a pretty good deal. The soup was a puree vegetable soup (forgot what it's called) and was hearty and homey. The Steakhouse beef tartare was loaded with roasted red peppers and crispy onions but I found the taste lacking punch. It could've used just a squeeze of lemon but otherwise, the meat was tender. I like the side of "homemade" chips that were similar to thick kettle cooked chips. I really enjoyed the flavors in the "fish & chips" Salmon tartare topped with pickled carrots and cabbage to give it a bit of kick and the fresh spinach salad. The crispy baguette slices were garlicky and tasty. The place was clean and empty during lunch on Wednesday. Apparently most people order takeout/delivery since many of the stores had opened during the pandemic. Because of that, they're running promos to try to get people to dine in. Every Wednesday night, they have all you can eat tartare for only $33 and you'll find a rotation of 4 tartare options (one flavor of salmon, tuna, beef and cooked shrimp) each week on their Facebook page so you can time your visit.

Our server was really good and the food was really good. We tried the non-alcoholic guava mule. The guava was nice and sweet and complimented the spicy of the ginger beer. We ordered a French onion soup, steak Diane, and a beef Wellington. The entrees came with choice of salad. We tried one of each , house Gibby salad and the blue cheese wedge. This was a lot of food for us. The French onion soup was my favorite, good flavor, lots of onions and that nice browned cheese top. Both salads were good, the house salad was a little lighter since the blue cheese wedge salad had a rich blue cheese dressing and bacon bits on top. The steak and beef Wellington was also good. In general, we ordered medium rare, it was a little bit rarer than I expected but not I'd edible. So something to think about if you need your meat to be cooked more. Walking in, the atmosphere struck me--it's dark and cozy, but still well lit enough to feel inviting. We were seated right away. I was a little worried about how we were dressed, but the vibe turned out to be pretty flexible. We saw everything from nicely dressed couples to a bachelor party--complete with the groom-to-be in a hotdog costume! The menu was straightforward but impressive. Every entrée comes with your choice of a Gibbys salad or a wedge salad with blue cheese, plus a potato (do yourself a favor and get the Monte Carlo--you'll thank me later). For my appetizer, I ordered the French onion soup. I've said before that certain restaurants have the "best" one, but this version may actually take the crown. It wasn't oily, and it was perfectly topped with a generous, melty layer of cheese--the way French onion soup should be. I followed that with the Gibbys salad and a 12-ounce filet. I love a good filet, and this one hit the mark. My husband went for the lamb with the wedge salad and enjoyed both thoroughly. By the end, we were far too stuffed for dessert, so we called it a night. If you're looking to splurge on a memorable, romantic dinner in Montreal, Gibbys is the place to go

Pics and reviews looked great, so we made plans to dine here during our penultimate night in the city. Barroco is located in Old Montreal, right on Rue Saint-Paul. The exterior has really charming curb appeal, and upon entry we were greeted by the same. This isn't a large restaurant, arranged with tables and a few booths throughout the space and a bar on the back wall that serves as a focal point. The vibes were on - the restaurant was tastefully decorated with a mix of old-fashioned fixtures, stone walls, and earth tones. The restaurant was quite lively - the vibes were on. Their drink menu is quite creative; we actually started our evening at the bar while we were waiting for our table and the bartender made some great suggestions - both cocktails I had were really good. The food menu is mostly French inspired; it wasn't extensive but they had a good variety of creative dishes. We decided on two starters - the brioche and the octopus salad. The brioche was fine, it came as one roll with a side of seasoned butter. It was a little on the dry side, and the butter wasn't very flavorful. The octopus salad was much better; the octopus was sliced and arranged on top of a ratatouille which provided a good complement of flavors and textures. For my main I got the OG braised beef. The beef was almost pot-roast style, seasoned with maple and aged balsamic sauce and paired with truffled celery root purée. This was delicious - the beef was super tender, and the sauce provided great flavor. The puree was an awesome side - the entire trip was super comforting and familiar while also being new and interesting. We decided to get two desserts - the madeleines and the olive oil cake. The former were baked fresh and came with a side of chocolate pudding and salted caramel, while the latter came with whipped cream and coached pears. Both were good, but I preferred the madeleines; the warm sponge paired with the chocolate and caramel was a great finisher to the meal. Service was great - everyone from the host to the bartender to our waiter made us feel welcome; they definitely elevated the experience. Overall, I had a great time at Barroco; the food, vibes, and service were all on point. I would definitely consider returning the next time I'm in Montreal.

My only regret is not finding it earlier in our Montréal adventure. Honestly, I'd plan another trip just to come back to Barroco. The vibe is cozy, charming, and delightfully quaint. The food looked incredible too, but sadly we'd already eaten and were leaving the next morning. Bottom line: don't skip this gem while you're in Montréal--or you'll be kicking yourself all the way home. Pass on the tourist traps--this is the Montréal memory you actually want.
