I'm a fan of Kahnawake and supporting places here Would love to give this 5 stars, but really can't, that is clear I've been here twice, both for birthday partys And while the first visit was great, the second was shoddy Taxes are included so the price isn't that bad But some of the items prices made me quite mad The first time I came, I had the avocado salad With goat cheese and chicken so satisfied my palate Upon my return they now charge four dollars more And less of the quantity they offered before So on the 2nd visit I ordered some tacos Served with moldy cheese- which was quite the shock-o! We had waited so long for the food to arrive I scraped off the cheese and scarfed all 3 live! I did let them know, and they ended up comping my plate And the fried dill pickles I also ordered were absolutely great The service was long, but friendly at least Still part of the reason my opinion decreased That and the cheese because c'mon man, that's lame To serve rotten food even when comping it, is a shame But it's nice and it's cozy with its' wooden decor So I'd be willing to come here at least just once more -------- Installment 31 poetry reviews I want to like this place more, but I can't. At first they tried to still charge me 1/2 price for the tacos since I ate them... But i was starving by that point! I didn't argue or say I was upset and our waiter said they decided not to charge at all for the tacos (I still paid for my wine and fried pickle side, which I agree with) before bringing our bills, so ultimately I decided it is worth giving them another try. But I still can't give them higher than 3 stars for now. 'Cause...why and how was the cheese moldy in the 1st place...and how did it end up past several employees and in front of a customer? And how could you even fathom charging me at all for it? And why didn't the manager/owner or chef come to apologize? Though I appreciated how our waiter handled it it wasn't his fault or responsibility to deal with that. Also I found the price increase on the wine to be quite exaggerated. (When you charge me more than half the price of the bottle itself at the SAQ for 1 measely cheap pour glass...no. You upset me.) Not to mention the selection limited and poorly chosen for a steak house (with a few exceptions, I'll admit). But damn, those pickles were good! X-D

Interesting story; we met the owner and his finance of Robbie's Smokehouse on vacation in Puerto Vallarta. As one week vacations go, you make friends but usually never see them again...! Well, not this time as our visit to Montreal we were able to go and experience this smokehouse restaurant in kawanahke. The place is nicely decorated with the rugged look of a smokehouse complimented by flatscreens and a full bar. We got the; * Jack burger 5 stars big and tasty meat * Lunch smokehouse sandwich 4 stars not enough smoky flavor or taste * Beet salad 4 stars too much red onion not enough beets (suggestion add some yellow and white beets) * Lunch rib and chicken combo 4 stars ribs were good chicken just ok * The coleslaw is too vinegary, served in a plastic container (should be switched it to a porcelain cup) * Fries were good with just amount of seasoning * If you like red ale beers, get the Ridgeback Service 5 stars Food 4 stars good but room for improvement Ambiance 5 stars Price 5 stars Overall experience 5 stars Although Chad was not in town the day we stopped by, but we weren't disappointed having lunch there. Too bad we didn't get to see our friend. Till next time... The Real Foodie Gone smokehouse

Our server was really good and the food was really good. We tried the non-alcoholic guava mule. The guava was nice and sweet and complimented the spicy of the ginger beer. We ordered a French onion soup, steak Diane, and a beef Wellington. The entrees came with choice of salad. We tried one of each , house Gibby salad and the blue cheese wedge. This was a lot of food for us. The French onion soup was my favorite, good flavor, lots of onions and that nice browned cheese top. Both salads were good, the house salad was a little lighter since the blue cheese wedge salad had a rich blue cheese dressing and bacon bits on top. The steak and beef Wellington was also good. In general, we ordered medium rare, it was a little bit rarer than I expected but not I'd edible. So something to think about if you need your meat to be cooked more. The prices seemed fair for a steakhouse and for the amount of food we ate.

Walking in, the atmosphere struck me--it's dark and cozy, but still well lit enough to feel inviting. We were seated right away. I was a little worried about how we were dressed, but the vibe turned out to be pretty flexible. We saw everything from nicely dressed couples to a bachelor party--complete with the groom-to-be in a hotdog costume! The menu was straightforward but impressive. Every entrée comes with your choice of a Gibbys salad or a wedge salad with blue cheese, plus a potato (do yourself a favor and get the Monte Carlo--you'll thank me later). For my appetizer, I ordered the French onion soup. I've said before that certain restaurants have the "best" one, but this version may actually take the crown. It wasn't oily, and it was perfectly topped with a generous, melty layer of cheese--the way French onion soup should be. I followed that with the Gibbys salad and a 12-ounce filet. I love a good filet, and this one hit the mark. My husband went for the lamb with the wedge salad and enjoyed both thoroughly. By the end, we were far too stuffed for dessert, so we called it a night. If you're looking to splurge on a memorable, romantic dinner in Montreal, Gibbys is the place to go

According to Boyfriend... who thinks the clock "resets"... yesterday was our 7-year anniversary -…read moresince this was a Monday night, our options for going out in the area were limited, but ETC was definitely the *best* one! We had made a reservation but it probably wasn't needed - it was super quiet (only 3 other tables occupied) - empty restaurants are usually a pet peeve of mine, BUT not this one, and that says a lot. Ambiance was *perfect* even though the dining room was almost empty. I love the dimmed lighting, soft music and beautiful decor. We started with calamari & caesar salad appetizers - amazing. Caesar salad made with freshly shaved parmesan and freshly cured, prosciutto-type bacon instead of the usual bacon bits. Boyfriend had his usual filet mignon & fries. I went with the hanger steak again, and wanted to try the mac n' cheese side, after hearing others rave about it. Note that if you choose the hanger and like your meats very rare - this cut is usually prepared medium-rare and it's kind of difficult to convince them to cook it otherwise. I understand the process our waiter explained, but I cannot eat any red meat if it's not bloody. Anyway, our waiter (young asian man) finally agreed to ask the kitchen, but it wasn't as well prepared as the last time I ate here a month ago... doesn't really matter. I spotted tartare on the menu and have already decided I'm having *that* next time! Mac n' cheese was definitely a hit, homemade and with real truffles! It's a huge portion though - but I was able to take it home, hopefully it will reheat well tonight.

Gorgeous interior and super comfy seats. Service was excellent. Very attentive and even the manager comes around asking everyone how everything is. The food! Oh my goodness. We had the best time and cannot wait to come back!

The Rail is their casual eatery and it does a great job serving up Stateside comfort foods. We're talking burgers, salads, pastas and pizzas that are definitely a step up from most card room faire. Easy fan of their "crunchy jack burger" piled high with crispy fried onions, chipotle mayo and maple BBQ sauce. Also the simple chili. Looks like it came from a can but definitely doesn't taste like it. Pizzas are all wood fired. Chewy, puffy crust. Order by the menu or customize as much as you like. Ingredients might not be the highest quality but it's still hand crafted and better than any premade processed pie. Create your own pasta, OK. Satisfying since its made for your mood. Tortellini with spicy arabiatta, mushrooms and spicy Italian sausage somehow matches the energy at the tables. All beat the quality of a certain Olive chain. We ordered a variety of things (including things we wouldn't usually order to try and enjoy the full experience). We had a special that they were having that night similar to a charcuterie board, croquettes, hangar steak, lobster spaghetti, fries, bread and pickle, and a scallop soup type dish (I forget what it was called and honestly it was my absolute favorite most unique dish). For $89 per 6oz serving, I expect the meat will be cooked perfectly and of top-notch quality. The bread served with escargot is hard and chewy; scallop soup is lumpy and lukewarm; the double down foie gras is just two pieces of hard bread which barely has any foie gras; duck breast sliced into 6 thin pieces serves with breakfast sausage; the meat is cold, covered by a gluey sauce; the presentation is disastrous. Asparagus is cold, and the cheese sauce on top is cold too. Maybe it's supposed to be cold? But it is weird to serve as a side of a meat course.

Its also a casino and cigar lounge so it makes it even better. Oyster rockerfeller ($21) ~ OH GOD this was phenomenal. The bechamel and the parmesan cheese was so rich and paired so well with the fatty and sweet oyster. 10/10. Fried calamari ($24) ~ super crispy, and well seasoned the pieces of calamari were big and the cocktail sauce it paired with was chef kiss. It was perfectly cooked and not rubbery at all! 9.5/10. It was absolutely chef kiss if I didn't have to share I would've devoured this soo quickly it would've scared everyone. Definitely worth it for the price, and it was beautifully done. 10/10.
