I will say they were all young and this new generation knows nothing about faking it til the end of your shift. The work ethic in this location sucked, for lack of better term. I ordered a hook & ladder sub for pick up. When I went to pick it up, there were 3 people behind the counter and not one of them looked up and conveyed a welcome. I went over and found my order on the counter since I noticed my name on the bag. No one checked to see if the bag belonged to me. I also needed to get a a large drink. I noticed that cups sitting out. I got my cup and walked again in front of the people behind the counter and not one of them gave a thank you. They were too busy cutting up and not paying any attention. When I got home my large sub did not have hardly any meat on it and the bread was hard. The drink I chose was a Barq root beer, after tasting it turn out it was not root beer but a flat Coke. Looks like the persons working there is not paying attention but more interested in not doing their job and doesn't care but still wants that pay check. I'm a huge fan of Firehouse Subs. By far one of my favorite places to get subs from. The lines always moves quickly and the food is delicious. I always get the Engine Company sub because it reminds me of a mom and pop sub place from back home. When I tell you this sub was gooooooood!!! But when I see a girl who is making subs with no gloves on and holding her cell phone as she is supposed to be making food is disappointing and the guy the other employee how is taking the orders seems ok with what she is doing. Is bad business across the board. Who ever owns the place should be better at making a point with employees to be more professional. As I walked in I was asked if I had an online order. I said no and that I was going to place an order. Seems to be an awful lot going on to get my sandwich made but on the plus side ordering it really only gets as complicated as you want to make it: a) Ask what's good b) Have that! -OR- 1) Start at the top of the menu boards. 2) Try the first thing that sounds good. 2b) poll the table 3) Come back and try the next one. 4) Repeat as often as necessary. Got the Hook and Ladder on recommendation and liked it well enough, hard to go wrong with turkey, ham, and cheese w/ mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a dill pickle + sun chips and Mellow Peacho from the SodaMatic. I had a great experience today with a catering order from this location of Firehouse Subs. I had volunteered to provide lunch for a group of Habitat for Humanity volunteers today. Yesterday, when my first caterer canceled on me, I went into Firehouse on Center Lake Dr in Charlotte, NC and talked to Rena Goings. I placed an order for 60 sandwiches to be picked up in less than 24 hours. When I arrived to pick up the sandwiches today, (before they opened for business), Rena and team had everything ready to go! Just had the absolute worst experience at this location. I ordered a12 inch BLT on white. I was told they didn't have 12 inch white so I asked if they could do a 4 inch and 8 inch. He said yes and proceeded to make my sandwich. Unfortunately, the person he kept calling to come to register never came, so he was doing both jobs. I leave after getting my sandwich only the find that there's no tomatoes on the sandwich. When I go back in and ask for tomatoes, he said they didn't have any. I asked him why he didn't say that when I ordered considering how important tomatoes are to a BLT. He begins to yell about me being confused and that I should have asked if they had tomatoes. Meanwhile the manager is standing by listening to him yell and says nothing. I asked her about his behavior and yelling at customers and her response was that he does this only when customers come in a certain way. Not only is this not ok, but now I'm being insulted by both of them. Because what way am I coming in because I wanted something that I paid for. I then ask for a refund and she tells me that she's not giving me a refund because I didn't get tomatoes. And I needed to return everything. Which I did while he continued to yell. This was the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced and cannot believe that a manager would just stand by and watch as her employee yells at customers. And admits that he does this when customers come in a certain way. The fact that neither one of them took any ownership in selling a sandwich that they didn't have the ingredients for and then blaming the customer is baffling. read more

This review speaks to pretty much any Firehouse I've ever been to no matter the city or state. The staff is generally nice and always enthusiastic, "Welcome to Firehouse!". They use quality meats in their sandwiches and the bread works well with how they do a sub (toasted and then loaded with steamed meat and cheese, then dressed). That being said, you better like a hot sub or Firehouse is not really for you. I just like subs period. Hot, cold, whatever.... I'm stuffing them in my face and enjoying the heck out of them! My two favorites are the New York Steamer which is corned beef, pastrami, cheese, Italian dressing and mayo/mustard and, the Engine Company which seems to not be on the menu board anymore but is still available if you ask. roast beef, turkey, cheese and whatever fixings you want from their list. The only location where I've ever had a problem is the one at the EpiCentre. 3 visits to get a sub to go for lunch and 2 of those times I got back to my desk only to unwrap something other than what I ordered. I have visited the Firehouse Sub in High Point, NC, several times, and I was always happy with my sandwich. But it's been probably 4-5 years since I've been to a Firehouse since. The sub was even better than I remembered. I got the Italian on white with no onion, and from the first bite to the last, it was wonderful. The meat is obviously high quality, the seasoning (especially on this specific sub) is perfectly balanced, but by far the best part of the sub was the bread. It was warm and tasted like it had just been taken out of the oven. One of the best subs I've ever had. My friend ordered the Hook & Ladder on wheat and enjoyed it too (that was the special of the day, and I almost ordered it myself because it looked so good, but I have no regrets - my Italian was heavenly). She also liked the chips; she said they were very crispy. When she had finished her sandwich, she told me, "I'd come back here again." I ordered a third sandwich, the Club on a Sub, to bring back to a friend at work. She asked for it to be cold, as she doesn't like heated sandwiches. So after the sandwich was made, the cashier let me know they had put it in the cooler to keep it cold until we were ready to pick it up. I had not asked for that; I had simply told her I needed it to go, and that my friend wanted it cold. I thought that was very nice to go the extra mile. My friend pinged me and told me she thought the sub was very good. In terms of friendliness of the staff, a couple of them greeted us with "Welcome to Firehouse", and everyone was very nice. I also liked that the sandwiches all seemed to be proportioned well; the meats and condiments were evenly spread out over the length of the rolls, which isn't always true for some other sub chains. I am not a fan of Subway or Quiznos, but I do eat at Jersey Mike's and Jimmy John's when I get the chance. I'd recommend them both. But if you're looking for a hot sub served on bread that truly tastes freshly baked, I would definitely recommend you try this Firehouse. The employee just through their sandwiches up on the counter. They had to ask him for a bag. Then they had to ask him for the brownies they ordered. Extremely poor customer service, bad attitudes, and extremely slow service. My company placed an order for 19 subs. The restaurant acknowledged the order. They hadn't even started the order when I arrived at the time the order was confirmed to be ready. The employee was snarky and said that I should have placed it 24 hours in advance. I asked why they even accepted the order, or why they didn't call if that was the reason for the delay. The reply was "I should have known, not their fault." It took 1hr 19mins to make 19 subs. They confirmed all 19 subs were completed, in fact, they were not. They shorted us 3. We will NOT be ordering from this location EVER again. There's an aspect to Firehouse that very few people are aware of, I've found that they consistently have better brisket in their subs than a good many of the BBQ restaurants in the area. And more importantly it's consistently good. You really never know if you're going to wind up with a mouth full of fat, meat or a combination at most places. They immediately apologized to everyone who was waiting and promised to get our food to us as fast as possible. I was thoroughly impressed by their professionalism and their customer service. I like most of Firehouse Subs and I think their subs are great. This location is a little different than the others. I walked in on a Thursday afternoon to get a sub, after I placed my order I walked over to the fountain machine to pour myself a drink and guess what? U probably wouldn't be able to guess, they ran out of ice for the day!!! In my 21 years of living in USA I have been to many places and never ever they had ran out of ice. Someone should remind them this is not a 3rd world country, this is the land of opportunity and ICE. So, i drive 4 miles back to the Northlake location and inform this worker that my order was wrong. He begin to argue with me that there was no cheese on the sandwich and eventually throws it in the trash and says, "fine, i will make you another one. I declined and asked for my money back.
