Ordered online and was given a 15 minutes pickup time for the "ASAP" option. That was fine, it was going to take me that long to get there anyway. Got there 5 minutes after the quoted time and still waited about 10 minutes before getting my order. It seemed like they hadn't even started until I told them I was there to get it. Came in on a Thursday evening 1/8 to be exact. The gentleman certainly knows how to make a great sandwich the ingredients are fresh, the portions generous, and the flavors spot on. Unfortunately, the customer service doesn't match the quality of the food. During my visit, the staff seemed disengaged and unwelcoming. There was little acknowledgment upon entering, and the atmosphere felt rushed and indifferent. When I placed a second order online to fix my own mistake, the employee visibly showed frustration, even grunting and cursing as he walked to the back. It's disappointing, because the food alone deserves five stars. With better customer service, this location could easily become a favorite. read more

I mentioned I had an online order she snapped if its not on the shelf its not ready. As I waited I noticed online orders were being called out. That was confusing and she told me wrong. I stopped by Firehouse subs today to try the hot ones limited edition subs. I thought about the spicy dill but decided to stay away from Reaper hot today. I went with zesty Garlic and the Fresno hot. Excellent choice. Both are Hook and ladder varieties but I imagine if you asked they could add to any sandwich but not totally sure on that. Mo was the cook today. Excellent stop today. Great sandwich! I usually buy Subway but this store had a Buy1/Get 1 free deal so I thought I'd try it. The bread was delicious, the fillings fresh and flavorful and the gal ( at the register) helped with the app and the deal. The sandwich maker was friendly and very precise in making my sandwiches...I did get yelled at by the 'manager' for leaning on the guard area and talking with the sandwich maker! I told her it was my first time and she made many recommendations and decided on the Italian medium size with soda. The Italian was so full of flavor and medium is a decent amount of food for lunch. By far the WORST Firehouse Sub store ever. I absolutely love their food and hate to check this one off the list but this location has the rudest employees, the worst service, and the most inaccurate orders. I rarely get my order on time when ordering online. I've had to wait 30 minutes past the guaranteed time before. Last time I asked for a refund because it took so long and they said they couldn't do it. I rarely get the correct order, today it was basically missing the meat...only 1 slice! The employees don't give a crap about anything and it shows. I stopped patroning for awhile but had a craving today and thought I'd give it a try AGAIN....wrong move. Just as bad. The cashier was nice and helpful since I've never been to a firehouse sub before, the food was as expected for a fast food sandwich shop. There was a worker who was rather rude to another customer while we were there - so that was off putting. There is plenty of parking and seating here, but it seems like most people were doing take out. This wasn't our first choice of restaurant but it worked since we couldn't go to the other two places we wanted to go. It kind of reminds me of Quiznos. read more

All other FHS don't include pickle, add extra mayo and other modifications that I do as I'm picky. This place had everything I asked for. My first time at firehouse today, I was really confused when I walk in, but staff were friendly and explained the menu quite well, I will definitely be back. I got the new Pork and Slaw sandwich they got, and it was amazing!! I want to thank the 3 young girls the was working today that make my experience much better. The name on my receipt was Yazmin. It's the best place to be ridiculed and get food poisoning, if that's your goal, but it will take at least twenty minutes to get your dirty sandwich. I was in the other day. I come in often the young girl by the name of Amber. I think so the name tag and she really helped me out. I couldn't figure out how to work the app for T-Mobile Tuesdays. No, No, No! I ordered the smoked turkey breast sub. I had it cold and added bacon. First and most importantly- they substituted Cheddar Cheese instead of Provolone as the menu stated! Ever since my brother took a road trip to Kansas City last year, he had been ranting and raving about Firehouse Subs. He even claimed it was almost as good as Earl of Sandwich in Vegas. When we learned there was a Firehouse in Maplewood, we had to make the drive from Minneapolis to check it out. It seems that sandwich places have really taken off in the past few years. Perhaps it has a lot to do with the economy and people wanting economical dining options, but whatever the reason, it's always good to have choices. I hope Firehouse catches on because it is, in my opinion, the best of what we have to offer here. Of course, you have your low-grade places like Subway and then a little higher level places like Jimmy Johns/Potbelly/Quiznos... But Firehouse really has these places beat. The interior is fun and definitely has the firemen/firehouse theme. They have a big selection of sauces out on the counter which not only provides options but makes for a nice presentational element. Another fun thing is the soda machine, which is all digital. You press the touch screen for your soda option and then you get even more options. For example, if you want Sprite you are given the choice of about 6 different flavors of Sprite. I wanted to try this out and selected raspberry Sprite. Im not normally a soda drinker but the process was fun. The subs themselves are high quality and I liked the meat options. My brothers had brisket and honey ham, respectively. I went with the new menu item advertised on the window--a pulled pork and slaw sandwich on a King's Hawaiian bun. It was awesome and very filling. The drawback to this place is that it's pretty expensive for what you get. My pork sandwich was the size of a restaurant hamburger, but it cost me almost $7 with tax. That's not including any drink or chips. Overall, if you want a toasted sub or a unique sandwich experience, this is the place to be. Definitely better than Subway, Quiznos, or Potbelly. If you like a more classic deli style cold sandwich, Id recommend Jason's Deli... But you cant go wrong with Firehouse for flavorful toasted subs. This used to be a Quizno's location before they shut it down and re-opened as Firehouse Subs instead. I popped in to check it out. They have a lot of subs to pick from, and their gimmick is that they steam cook the subs instead of grilling or toasting them (like Quizno's or Subway). It makes them hot and juicy, but the bread doesn't get as crisp. I prefer the way the Quizno's subs come out the most (between the three) if I'm going to get a grilled up sub. Overall, I felt overwhelmed by the menu choices. When they have a bunch of pre-designed sub and give them weird names (and Jimmy Johns does this too), it takes me a minute or two to figure out what I want. I can't just say "gimme a roast beef on wheat" or whatever. I have to order the Hook n' Ladder or whatever from their firehouse themed subs. The service was friendly but slow. It wasn't all that busy but it took longer than I thought it would. At the end of the day, it's a toasted sub. There isn't a whole lot of differentiation in the quick-sub-sandwich market I guess. They seem to use pretty good quality ingredients. The meat was tasty. As someone else mentioned, there are quite a few bottled sauces to choose from as well. They also have one of those 50 flavor coke touchscreen soda fountains too, for those that dig those machines (would rather have a mountain dew myself though). Not a bad place. Not a standout for me, but a worthwhile place to grab a sandwich. Subway is only 3 blocks from my house, and while not my favorite sandwich joint, I'd probably just go there over a 15 minute drive to Firehouse. Also, be warned that if you go at mealtime the parking lot is usually full-ish due to the larger Chipotle that is located next door. Also Firehouse only has limited seating due to it's small size. You're probably better off getting your sandwiches to go. read more

I did not receive a warm welcome when I entered the shop, or even any welcome for that matter. The employees just stood there and looked at me. I assumed they were waiting for me to order, so I spoke. I ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch. I was hungry so I ordered a large. I was the only person ordering so the sub was made fairly quickly. I had it within 2 minutes. Pros: presentation, prepared well (neatly made, right ratios of ingredients, cooked perfectly), melted in my mouth, one of those subs that you eat very quickly due to its mouth watering attributes! Cons: lacked flavor, bacon was flat and wimpy, bread crust was flaky, I got the impression that the ingredients could have been higher quality. Overall, it was a good sub. If there was more flavor, this sub would have scored very highly. It will be hard to go back to Firehouse knowing that Jersey Mike's is a few blocks down the road. read more

Let me explain. I seem to always have a bad experience here. Idk how I'm this unlucky but there's nothing I'm doing wrong. The first time I go in for myself and order, there's 2 people waiting and it's noon so I expect to wait a little, and it took 15 min. All they say to me is- 'what do you want ' and 'that's $_.__', (without smile or eye contact) and show that they don't really care that I bought from them, I'm just another customer (who has worked in all aspects of food service so I'm usually pretty forgiving). Whatever, it was just the first time right? I wish. The Food tasted fine. The next time I'm a doordash driver and it said to pick up an order at firehouse subs- I walk in and tell them, at this point I'm 6 minutes before it's supposed to be done. I am the only customer in the restaurant it's at like 5:00 pm so not a rush hour. These two women are just sitting and talking. They said "oh we haven't started it yet bc we didn't expect you here yet", and start it. I didn't think 6 minutes was too early but it's not like I had a choice working on DoorDash- I just drive to the location wand I get there when I do. I wait my 10 minutes to finish the bread and sandwich but then they drop the top bread on the ground and looks at me (doesn't say anything) and goes back to cook the bread again. It takes another 7 min and they hand it to me and (the nerve she had) said "here you go, now you know next time not to be early" like wtf. She even made it 11 minutes after the supposed pickup time. The other lady working said, 'have a good day' as I walked out which was the only good thing about this experience. When Ive worked in food service- if I drop a piece of bread or a customer comes early, I don't tell them they should have come later especially when they could have started it and were doing nothing when I got there. Very bad customer service - goodish food, always greasy and will drip on you and stain your pants - they don't give you a plate - it's just a box with holes on the sides that grease can slip through. Third time I didn't even have to go there. A firehouse subs employee was in uniform and came over to my workplace and started screaming at the top of her lungs on her phone within 4 inches of my car in the parking lot. I had to freaking crawl from the opposite side on my car to get in. I don't need to say what she was yelling but we can say it wasn't her day. Either way it didn't make me want to go to firehouse subs if I was going to see her again. She represents the restaurant in that uniform. read more
