This was our second time here, and once again it was absolutely worth the drive from Fort Wayne! The service was amazing--so friendly, welcoming, and attentive from the moment we walked in. I had the anti-carb burger with a side salad, while he had the ribs and brisket. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere is cool and laid-back, with a full bar and a great beer selection. The Double Oak Old Fashioned was top notch, and the Saugatuck Lake Street Lager was the perfect beer to go with the BBQ. Great food, great drinks, great vibes, and genuinely wonderful service. Nostalgic building with a current trendy vibe. Nice place, love the decor, tasty beer choices and unique spin on menu items, I had the choice of two meets and the waffle fries. Perfect amount of food not too much not too little. The pork and brisket were delicious and perfectly prepared, could have used a little bit more sauce to make up for the void of deep smoked flavor of BBQ. First time here. When walking in clearly could smell the nice smoky food. So I asked the waiter what is all smoked. I ordered the smoked brisket, onions and baked beans, that the waiter also mentioned. Nothing had a smoky flavor. Brisket was dry. So food was a disappointment. Beer was good but pricey at $9/pint. Asked waiter for 2 beer samples, she only gave enough for me, not my wife. Overall, not a good experience. read more

The good: clean bathrooms. Nice staff. Big menu. The burger was great. The bad: the bacon is like the kind you get at Wendy's. Maybe thinner. Weak. Definitely need to upgrade your bacon if you offer it as a side. Apparently the anti-carb bun option costs $3 and we didn't know that until we got our bill. If I had known 2 small cheese crisps were gonna cost me $3, I would've just said "no bun". They're not big into tellin you about their up charges either so make sure you kno what sides are normal sides and signature sides. read more

Fantastic service, quality food, great variety, and decent price! Visited with a group of 8 adults and 4 kids on a Thursday evening. We were seated immediately by an enthusiastic staff. They were very gracious with our party size, and patiently waited as we got situated and perused the lengthy menu. There were a couple of very cool specials (BBQ ribs and chicken legs, potato salad), but their regular menu was plenty enticing as well. Being a large group, we ordered quite the variety. Everything was really great. Portions were a little unbalanced, but for the most part tended on large! Flavors were fantastic, and we were stoked to have found the spot on our journey. Wow. My wife convinced me to come here instead of Essenhaus while we visiting the area. Wow was it good. Started with garlic cheese curds. Had the calypso chicken sandwich and burger made the same way. Both were good but the smokiness of the chicken went better with the spice. For sides the broccoli salad was amazing. read more

Their smoked meats are very flavorful and tender. The platter includes a corn bread muffin that is to die for. I'm not a corn bread fan but theirs is awesome with moisture and sweetness. Make sure you order one. They also make a tasty beer cheese for pretzels, burgers and other things. Huge beer selection. The servers do a great job. The wait isn't long most nights and times. We were in Shipshewana for a conference and learned about this place on Yelp. It was the perfect place to meet friends who live nearby and had been wanting to to try it. Great salads and sandwiches, and my husband enjoyed a brew, which is a little harder to find in Shipshewana. It's in a quaint, older part of LaGrange. Not a big place, but that made it intimate and relaxed. We definitely would come again. read more

We come three times a year when we are Shipshewana for a quilt retreat. We always go on Thursday nights when they play Slingo. It's so much fun and Tiffonie (sorry if I misspelled it!) is great at the game as well as making a great margarita! It's fun to listen to the songs but they always tell you the name of the song so you don't miss out on a Slingo (Bingo). The food is very good as is the service. Very rarely do I come to Lagrange and when I do there are so few dining options. Thought we would try Fireside to support local business. Ordered take out meals as dining in during the pandemic is not a safe option. Waited for 45 min to get our food and my son gets his Mac and Cheese which is supposed to be a good seller. What he gets instead is pasta shells with water and a little bit of cheese sprinkled on top. My wife and I ate here the other night. We were visiting Shipshewana and found several good reviews of Fireside so we stopped by. While the burgers here are good, they are not great. The combinations they come up with are creative but the quality doesn't quite match the creativity. I had the Beer Cheesinator and thought that the bacon could have been crisper. My wife had the Patty Wack. The fries were average at best and their fry sauce, while intriguing, did little to improve the fries. Last but not least, the atmosphere...visually, it is a nice looking restaurant. But the sound was a cacophony of two different music sources. Awesome little brewery hidden in Lagrange, IN. You gotta stop in and try a few craft brews and the Burgers are delicious. Try one of their featured items because they don't stay around long. The first time we stopped I had the Angry Oinker (jalapeños, pulled pork, and lots of other delicious toppings). This time I ordered the Jalapeño Business Burger, an awesome creation with a double cheeseburger, bacon, and jalapeños served on a cake Donut!). Amazing but you'll need a fork because the donut doesn't hold together very well. They have a few of their own beers and lots of guest taps! You have to try the Sweetwater 420 Strain!! OMG it smells like Mary Jane! One of the most unique brews I have ever tried (and I've sampled a lot...lol)! You cannot go wrong with this place! read more

Went there on a Tuesday night and loved the building. Nice use of an older building with a modern update. Appetizers came out quick and we're pretty good for a quick fried treat but lacked any seasoning. Pickle sauce was outstanding but a little watery. Smoked meat was done well but BBQ sauce tasted like a basic out of the bottle mix. Cornbread just tasted like a butter fried cake. No salt or really any taste of corn. Waffle fries were cooked well but no salt. Burger was cooked perfect but once again no seasoning. Bun was a perfect addition to the juicy meat. Mac and cheese was a joke. A cup of shells with a butter sauce, zero cheese flavor or seasoning. For an "upgraded" side I would expect something a lot more flavorful. Bread pudding was a dense cut of microwaved bread with a bit of cinnamon. No texture just dry sweetened bread. Needs some sort of caramelized nuts or something and maybe a scoop of ice cream if your going to do it like that. Bar had an impressive amount of beers on tap and an assortment of drinks. Service was okay. Odd side note. Someone had ripped off the toilet seat in the bathroom and shoved it in the corner... Not sure what to make of that but it didn't look like a new development. read more

We love this place and the drink selection is amazing ! It's like our own home town "Cheers"! The staff and owners are wonderful and make you feel welcome every time ! Have a staffing party coming up, it's a great place for that. The service and food are above and beyond expectations ! On the weekends during the day we say it's our own private party in the bar with our music playing and singing to our favorite tunes on the great modern juke box and nobody even cares !
