Our first venture to a new hotel since the Shamrock was razed three years ago for a more upscale development. What a loss and a disappointment to see the new development seemingly at a standstill, presumably due to the market crash. But I digress. Tried to stay middle of the road price-wise and pictures of the rooms and views for the price seemed promising. We usually travel with our dogs but weren't this time; requested an ocean front room that wasn't dog friendly at the time of reserving the room on-line but never heard back. Maybe there are none. Sooo... first impression at the lobby - great. Friendly service and appealing gift shop. Second impression - dingy carpeting on the stairway to reach the 2nd floor room. Needs replacing badly. Third - nice, oversized room with high ceilings and yes, gorgeous view. Easy access to trails to the tidepools and water. Beautiful. The first disappointment with the room was the lack of privacy on the deck. Chose to view the scenery from inside our room rather than sit side by side with our next door neighbor who was already well situated. Maybe that doesn't bother some folks but have stayed at other places that staggered the rooms so there was at least one deck spacing inbetween. This was a little too close for comfort so did not get to enjoy the outside view, which we had looked forward to. Not the cleanest room ever. The salty air takes it's toll and there is obvious deterioration to the door out and baseboards. Can live with that. The fireplace adds great ambiance. Linens and towels were bad, not hotel quality at all. The mattress - terrible. Woke up at 2 am, back hurting, still is, two days later. Took a serious toll on the trip. Views are spectular but there's a lot of coastline there and I'm sure this is not the only place to enjoy it from. We'll come back to Yachats, but not the Fireside. Ever. read more

I love this place! I always get the ocean side rooms. They have balconies with chairs and small table to see and enjoy the view! The rooms are clean comfortable with a large window (again to enjoy the view) with comfy chairs and table, 2 queens, microwave, coffee maker, etc. Each room has these small windows to let the sea air and sound in so you sleep like a baby. Prices are reasonable too. Staff is wonderful! The energy here is peaceful, guests are normally very respectful and friendly. It's the perfect place to reset yourself. I received a gift certificate for a room at this hotel because it is pet friendly. Because it was Labor Day our room cost 180.00 for 2 queen beds. It is a basic room with outdated furniture. I began looking around and, it had too many to count pet urinary spots. It totally grossed me out. I called the front desk and complained. They sent a man down and, he said they had no other room for us and could not shampoo the carpets until we were gone. It ruined my whole trip. There is no reason for this price for them to not have cleaned the carpets before we got there. I have been to other pet friendly hotels and have never seen this before. Then, I looked at the bed shirt snd it was dirty. Ugh!! I did not even want to spend the night. I also could hear every step by people on second floor. It is close to the ocean and beautiful view. You won't find a better ocean view or access anywhere. There are lots of rocks right in front of the motel with many splashes and we had our own miniature "Spouting Horn" right in front of our room. There is a path along the ocean's edge, with many benches, that seems to go for several miles. We were watching the surf splashing up into the air our second night there and soon spotted a whale. (July 7.) It was feeding on something a ways past the breakers, so it was visible in the same little area until sundown. It would spout 4 or 5 times, then dive for a while. We could see it without binoculars, but since it was in the same spot, we could also manage to train our binoculars on it. Oh, the motel review. The room was pretty clean - there were some dusty areas on lamps, etc. - but the huge ocean view window (double paned) is obviously cleaned very regularly. The room was quiet, even with the surf booming outside, warm, had a nice balcony and two tiny windows, one at the back and one at the front, that could be opened for ventilation without fear of anyone climbing in. We had a table with two overly large chairs with very soft, sinky cushions that were hard to move around. They are there for ocean or fireplace viewing, but not very practical or comfortable. There was also a sofa - didn't try it out. The fireplace is gas and turns on from a wall switch. The bed was high quality and very comfortable. There is a small refrigerator and a microwave and coffee pot. The motel does not provide a breakfast. The WiFi and cell phone signal were excellent. It is a pet friendly place. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends. read more

The Fireside is a small motel, but don't let that fool you... It is a great place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they have a great gift shop in the lobby. The "north" view rooms are just a good as the ones with he full ocean view, open up the window & hear the surf! The rooms are older, but updated and very clean. Most importantly they have the small coffee makers, and asking for more coffee was no problem. I will be going back! Hats off the the staff! read more

Only three reasons to love this place, location, location and location. It ain't a 5 star resort, but at the price it's as good as it gets, and it's well off the highway so no road noise. Be sure to get an ocean front room, it's totally worth it to see the surf crashing on the rocks 50 feet from the window. The rooms are old but comfortable and clean with no fancy furnishings, and the bathroom shows its age, but we went there to chill and see the beauty of the coast, and we got a full dose of that. Pet friendly for sure, most people had dogs, and the pooches were having a blast. We've been back several times and it's one of our favorite destinations. read more

Note: If you are going to stay here, make sure you ask for a ocean view room. The rest of the rooms are disgusting. My husband and I stayed here on a road trip after reading all these wonderful reviews and have never been so disgusted and disappointed. The carpet in the room was filthy and smelled like animal urine. It was gross enough that we didn't feel comfortable walking around the room without our shoes on. We even allowed our dog to sleep on the bed with us so she would not have to sleep on the floors either. For $90 a night, I expected a little more. The rooms do not have AC, which is fine, but you cannot leave the window open at night since they are all missing screens. This hotel desperately needs some major updates and upgrades. The only reason I am giving it one star was the staff and the continental breakfast. read more

We were on our way north and decided to find a place to stay on our way north to Tillamook. Found the Fireside motel on line and booked it. WOW! What a find. On the beach with a 180° view of the ocean. Waves breaking on the rocks and a beautiful sunset. What more could you ask for. Room was great and listening to the waves break during the night. Continental breakfast was all we needed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pet friendly with towels for your pet. We will make this our place to stay when going up the coast. read more

We had the most delightful experience at Fireside Motel!! We were vacationing for a week along the Oregon coast and our time in Yachats fells towards the end. By then, we had stayed in many other hotels/motels that were just OK. When we pulled up to Fireside, it immediately looked charming (the incredible ocean view didn't hurt!). The Lobby was warm and welcoming and they had the cutest gift shop full of items not found in stores in other coastal towns. Our room was cozy and the decor was chic. The bed was one of the more comfortable I've ever slept on, good water pressure in the shower and just all in all, very clean and extremely pleasant. The view of the ocean and proximity is amazingly close. There are benches to endlessly sit on and lovely oceanside walking/running paths (one takes you to a beach). It's fun to climb out on the rocks to take in the ocean and to look in the tide pools. Had we not had to move on with our trip, I could have happily stayed there for several more days. Incredibly relaxing, dog-friendly (everyone had them! Helped with missing our pups) and well maintained. I would stay here again in a heartbeat... you won't be disappointed! read more

I would definitely go back to this place. Its breakfast could use an upgrade but I feel like we got a good value for our money. We brought my dog which was a great treat. Stayed in a fireplace suit with an excellent view of the ocean. We had a small deck off our room. It was fantastic. Me and my adventure buddy decided to go see Thor's well and stay overnight in Yachats for the first time. Checked Yelp and this place got good reviews so for $100 a night we decided to give a try. Room was a queen size bed, 2 overstuffed chairs, tv, charging dock, microwave, fridge, free breakfast and close to the beach and a few miles of trails. Our room had a view of the parking lot and the rooms with patios are the pet rooms with views of the water. Which was fine because the water was so close. They also have a little store at the check in desk for souvenirs and snacks and in the morning its the place for breakfast. Which was fruit, muffins, coffee and tea. Place was clean but a bit older. We could hear our neighbors but because we spent the day walking the shore and discovering Yachats, after we took showers we passed out and didn't wake up until 8. This motel served its purpose and provided us with a clean, comfortable place to sleep. I would definitely recommend it. read more

Staff was nice and helpful. Surprise, free breakfast had hard boil eggs and gluten free corn flakes. the motel allows dogs and I was worried we would be surrounded by barking dogs, but all the owners kept their pets in check. This is definitely an affordable place to enjoy the coast; it is clean, safe and right on the beach. I will return and will recommend it to all my friends. What? you want something more romantic? I can't really say enough about how great our stay was here. We booked online and had to change the reservation last minute. The woman at the front desk canceled one of our bookings and helped us find a new room the same night without charging us a cancellation fee. Every staff member we encountered was so personable and eager to help. The motel allows dogs, so we got to interact with a lot of sweet put during our stay too. The best part, though, was the location. Even though it's right off the highway, the inn is nestled between the forest and a beautiful rock outcropping, which is just a few hundred feet from any of the rooms on-site. read more

Worst customer service ever. We planned a road trip on Oregon Coast for the Spring Break. My 9 years old daughter was hospitalized in ICU few days ago so sadly we have to cancel the whole trip. We were able to cancel every single hotel we reserved along the road ( 9 hotels all together ) but this one... went ahead to charge us for a room while my daughter is at the hospital. Now we asked our friends if they can go for the night, if we are gonna be paying for the hotel while my girl is at the hospital somebody gotta enjoy it for us! What a pity... We accidentally left two large beers we had bought from their gift shop in our room fridge when we left.. Loved the Fireside Inn! The location is right on the ocean and we saw whales breaching in the distance in the late afternoon and heard sea lions barking offshore in the morning. It was awesome. Our room was oceanfront and we could lay in bed and watch the waves. The room was clean, staff was friendly and there was a path right behind the motel that allowed us to take long walks along the ocean. Dog friendly, great location and reasonable rates as well as a nice selection for the continental breakfast. We thought it was great! read more

We stayed here two nights, a week apart. The first stay was good. Room was clean. The second stay in a different room was not so good. The bed was so uncomfortable and the grout in the shower was moldy and black- ew! I asked if the dog fee could be waived since my dog has a letter from my doctor to assist me with panic attacks and ptsd from my mom's death. My dog is also only 14 lbs & blind. We literally only slept in the room for 6 hours & left. However, they would not waive the fee. read more

We stayed for one night during the summer. We were pleasantly surprised by the room, which was clean and well maintained. The hotel has a cute gift shop and check in was fast and friendly. The location is incredible. We didn't get an ocean view because we made a last-minute booking, but there are benches right in the water so we still enjoyed the location. We had an absolutely fantastic time here in the fall. For around $100 We had a spa tub and fireplace in our room and you could literally see whales from the spa tub. The view is awesome and they are pet frieldly. We also had a small out door area. We were pleasantly surprised that this spot on the oregon coast made us feel like we were in hawaii. A+. read more

I should rate them 5 stars but we all want even lower rates, more amenities etc.etc... THIS PLACE IS FANTASTIC! King bed, ocean just feet away with crashing waves, wifi, fireplace, our dog and all for about $100. The beaches are great for walking, village bean espresso just up the road and a helpful friendly staff at the motel. Way off the road so no traffic noise. I can't recommend them highly enough. Attended a Family Reunion in Waldport this past June and stayed at the Fireside Motel for a couple of days. This motel was very clean the rooms were wonderful and the view was magnificent! This is a rather old motel, but it is taken care of, very well I might add. You can't beat it for the price. You even get a Continental Breakfast. The people at the front desk were very helpful and nice also. If I'm ever down that way again, I'll for sure be staying there. read more

Amazing, Amazing from the time we walked into the hotel office until the time we checked out the front desk staff was cheerful and seemed willing the help out it was like we were doing them a favor just staying there. We did an upgrade on our room because we wanted a room with the view of the ocean which they did with a smile. Double vanities big room that was clean. Small beautiful little village with a gem of a Motel. Yes we will be staying there again but longer next time. Just a short walk to the beach or a bench the just sit and watch the ocean. read more

I was travelling with my dog so I had found this place online. A friend suggested stopping in Newport. But after seeing that town and frankly, thinking it was a dump - I decided to spend another 30 minutes driving in the dark to Fireside. I had called and they had rooms available. That was the best decision I made. The room had a king size bed, fireplace, balcony with 2 chairs and table, microwave, fridge - I couldn't ask for more. The waves crashed on the rocks right outside my room. The first morning I was awoken to the sounds of sea lions barking. Took my dog for a walk along the path - which used to be an old mail delivery and I think just general commerce path. Anyway, he loved running along the ocean and into the wooded area. The front desk staff was so nice and accommodating - they even lent me a pair of binoculars. It was so beautiful, quiet and romantic I ended up staying a second night. read more

This motel came highly recommended by a co-worker for a place to stay with dogs. As it is very dog friendly, I wasn't expecting it to be so clean. Our room was immaculate. Relying on reviews from other Yelpers as well as Trip Advisor, we chose the Fireside because of its location on the ocean and its pet friendly policy. We had a large room with a king bed and fireplace overlooking the ocean that was fantastic! Every morning I enjoyed a peaceful walk with my dog on the 804 trail, every night we slept with our patio door open so we could hear the pounding waves and every afternoon we enjoyed our wine on the balcony overlooking the ocean. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and accommodating. The complimentary breakfast was modest but adequate with hot/cold cereal, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, juice and breakfast breads. The homemade scones, muffins and banana bread made onsite were fabulous! Craving the fresh berry scones now! What more could you want? We have just a couple of suggestions to make this a 5 star experience: provide taller chairs on the balcony so the view is not obstructed by the railing and train housekeeping staff to provide just a bit more attention to detail when cleaning, replacing used cups/glasses with fresh on a daily basis and checking to be sure bath mats are replaced when hanging fresh towels, and used coffee cups/glasses are replaced daily along with sugar, cream, stir sticks so that guests don't have to ask. These are small things. We WILL be back. You can't beat the location! read more

I just read through other reviews. I guess several of the staff were in terrible moods when we were there a few days ago. Our main complaint was horrible treatment by the staff but also the noisy creaking floors over our heads. when we came back from breakfast we saw that our room had not been made up. I went into the office and politely mentioned that we were going out for lunch and would like the rooms made up. The woman there said she would do that. I asked her about staff leaving for the day because that had happened to us before at another motel and our room never was cleaned. She assured me it would be done. We came back hours later with friends. Imagine our shock going into our room with beds unmade. I went to the office and was told someone checked a box on a chart that said we did not want our room cleaned. That woman told me it must be a communication problem, sorta implied it was me who had the communication problem. No apologies from any of the various staff people we saw during our time there.
