Called ahead and made an appointment with Ben to bring my 2014 Cadillac XTS Platinum with 109k miles in for an inspection with recommendations and a quote for potential work to compare against the dealer quote. In this day and age it is important to get a couple quotes for preventative maintenance in order to make the best financial decisions. It was easy to get an appointment a couple hours in advance by calling and speaking with Ben (who has been at this location for some time). The price for the complete car care package at Firestone is very reasonable at $9.99. I have previously used this location with other vehicles and had a positive experience. Firestone offered a great second opinion and I was able to get all of the work done on my vehicle same day. Got a ride home and back to the shop. Ben and the team have earned my loyalty. I even added a Dexos 1 synthetic oil change! No need to go to the dealer!!! Thank you-Firestone Complete Auto Care!

Great experience Knowledgeable mechanics Definitely recommend No BS here like other stores Other stores told me the tires were too big to do an alignment. All the Firestones have the same equipment.

I took my car in yesterday (1/28/23) at 2:30 pm for a synthetic oil change. Today (1/29/23) I checked the oil on the car, and it was completely overfilled. I had to get it drained. When I called customer service to check the amount of quarts put in my car, they said there was nothing written down by the mechanic.

So bring vehicle in for 20,000 mile inspection. Im not even 2 blocks from leaving there and the tire pressure light comes on. This is suppose to be a company that checks everything. They rotated the tires and couldn't make sure everything was OK? How do you really know they checked everything else? You don't.

After a lot of Yelp research, I found Escondido Auto Tech. I brought my vehicles for a smog and got great service each time. Found them easy to work with too. Next, I brought in my car for maintenance and a list of repairs and items to check on. Let me not bore with the mundane details, just know: -they took good care of the car, addressing every item on my list. -Frank, the service manager, took the time to discuss the list of repairs with me and explained what they would do-to make sure we were on the same page with everything. He listens! In fact, when he received the list (which I'd emailed ahead of time) he immediately spotted a safety issue and reached out to me to get it addressed promptly. -they finished the work AHEAD of the promised completion time -took the trouble to score parts at a lower price than quoted (and passed on the savings!) -provided a detailed completed work order with information I about my vehicle that I found valuable. Like I said, call me a fan!

Smog check comes out to be $78.20 before the coupon (including the certification). While I was waiting, I found a $40 off coupon on their website so I showed it to the person that was helping me. I was aggressively questioned as why didn't show the coupon right in the beginning. He then told me I would have to reschedule since it has to be a physical copy of the coupon. I had to point out the coupon says "printed or mobile". There must have been some misunderstanding because who shows a coupon before paying??? Despite the unpleasant questioning, the service was fast. If you are also coming here for a $38.20 smog check, make sure to present the coupon like your life depends on it.

There were three auto repair companies right next door to my office in RB but after reviewing Yelp, I discovered that there was a much much better one a few miles away. Trusting Yelp, I immediately headed over to Ricks RB Auto because his reviews were not only much much better but the praise to the quality of work gave me a very high comfort level. I was not disappointed. Driving into his shop is not that impressive being part of a shell station but the staff were efficient and friendly even though they were closing. They wasted no time diagnosing the issue. It was a leak in the cooling system in the rear section of the engine. Rick made me comfortable that he'll take care of it ASAP. The very next day the car was ready and Rick mentioned he ran into some issues. It turned out that it wasn't just a hose but a special water pump attached to the hybrid system that was cracked into two! Turned out this is a $900 part because Hyundai sells it as part of a larger piece that connects to the manifold, so he went to another source and found a refurbished part for just $200! Saving me $700. He not only saved me a huge amount of money had I taken it elsewhere but made several important recommendations on belt replacement as the car was aging. I told him he is going to be the only company to look after this car from now on! Well believe it or not, the car overheated again a few days later and off it went back to Rick. He assured me they will take care of it and boy did they. It turned out to be another hose failure in a different part of the engine. He not only replaced it and the coolant but charged me absolutely nothing!!! Even though the problem was brand new. I'm sold and I will highly recommend Rick to my friends and to anyone else in San Diego. It's so rare to see such service anywhere.

Then he actually was willing to replace rotors without charge. It was after we had a couple confrontations regarding the initial service. However Rick offered and he kept his word, he replaced rotors for free. The problem is there is still a squil. The vehicle brakes safely but the squil drives me crazy. I just surprise after so much effort it still there. Not necessarily their expertise or not. Brakes were taking care of and more as it was my original request.

On a positive note, the shop is very clean and gated, so it is a safe place to leave your car overnight Nevertheless, I will not return to the shop. My experience found them to be dishonest. I brought my 2022 Volkswagen Taos (approximately 35,000 miles) in for a routine oil change and was told that my rear brake rotors needed to be replaced immediately because "new brake pads would not apply to the rotors." At the time this did not make sense because I did not hear any screeching on my brakes and had no issues with my brakes prior to this appointment. However, I was in a time crunch and did not have time to visit an auto shop anytime soon for a second recommendation. I was about to start a full-time commute driving 60 miles each way five days a week. Because of this, I went ahead with the repairs. The way the need for replacement was presented made me feel like my vehicle was unsafe to drive if I didn't authorize the repair. Every time I mentioned driving to Orange County, Fred's response only furthered my fear. Once the repairs were underway, I began to question the pricing and necessity for replacement. It was at that point that I asked for pictures of the rotors, and then I asked the shop to give me my rotors and brake pads when the repairs were completed. Before I left the shop, I took a closer look at the rotors myself. While the shop owners did an excellent job of trying to convince me at the time that these rotors needed to be replaced, my first instinct was that they looked fine and did not need to be replaced. They had normal wear, and as I ran my fingers over them they had no deep grooves, no significant scoring, and no obvious damage. I took my rotors with me and had them reviewed by a friend who owns a repair shop in Orange County. There was nothing indicating the rotors were at the end of their useful life. It was at that point I knew I needed to write a review. To be clear, the shop failed to provide any measurements showing the rotors were below the manufacturer's minimum thickness or warped, replacing them did not appear to be an obvious necessity. The long-term effects of this experience will be felt every time I drive my car. When business owners look out for their bottom line over the needs of their customers, they often overlook the long-term consequences. Lost business, bad reputation, long-term loss. Being a woman, I assume they did not think I would do my research and dive this deep on the situation. But I do not like to call dishonesty out without having all the facts first. It was a poor miscalculation on their part. What disappointed me most was not that the shop recommended additional work, there are certainly situations where rotor replacement is appropriate. It was the fear-based approach used to sell the repair. As a customer, I rely on professionals to provide objective information, explain why a repair is needed, and present the evidence so I can make an informed decision. Instead, I left feeling pressured into believing my brakes were unsafe. It is experiences like this that have taught me to always double check what mechanics tell me. I value honest recommendations and transparent communication. If the rotors had been measured and shown to be below specification, or if there had been another objective reason they required replacement, I would have appreciated that explanation. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. I encourage others to seek a second opinion before authorizing expensive repairs based solely on verbal recommendations.
