I gave this place a five star review a few years ago, so they must have really gone down hill recently. These guys they've hired are so mean and intimidating, they should be bouncers in a busy sleazy nightclub. I had a coupon for an oil change and asked them if it could be done in about an hour. Apparently, I did something this guy didn't like, I don't know. It could be all my pro gay bumper stickers? Also, he insisted I come back right away and get tires and printed me out a very expensive estimate to my annoyance. When I picked up my vehicle, he said it will overheat unless I add more coolant. I checked the level and looking at it, the level was right in the middle so I didn't worry about it. I rode about thirty or forty minutes and it overheated. Then I discovered the radiator cap was not tightened on right, just sitting there leaking air. I had to get it towed back home and barely made it back to their shop before it overheated again, after I put more fluid in and tightened the cap. The manager was very sweet though, and comped me some time to look over it. Then he wanted over $300 bucks to fix it! I called my regular mechanic and I discovered that they probably fried the water pump because of that, and the other guys charged me nearly a hundred dollars less. With the exception of the young manager, those thugs there treated me as if I was causing all of the trouble and tried to intimidate me a lot. I should give them a star for giving me some free work and a free radiator fill and "burp", yet I wonder if it was just to get more money out of me? I don't know, I'm just glad I got a second opinion, and also talked to a few of my mechanic friends to help me through situations like this, otherwise I would be another victim in scams like this. read more

I like Firestone and Bridge stone tires. Much happier with them than Les Schwab. Love their tire service dislike their auto repairs. I changed the front CV axles in our Subaru today. Axles are identical paid $58.19 for each. I get a discount at the auto parts as many folks do. List price is $116.38 each for the NEW axles. Firestone wants $143.99 for one and $109.99 for the other plus $171.00 for labor. I don't have a problem with the labor price but was shocked at the parts and they were rebuilt/reman. Also charging different price for the same axles?? I had a set of spare front brake rotors for my tundra turned at Firestone a while back. When I did a brake job and put them on I couldn't drive it as the wheel was jerked out of my hands when the brake was applied. I had to put the old rotors on and take them back. One was so badly turned I was scrapped. Someone really screwed up there. It wasn't the machine as one rotor was fine and the other bad. Not the best trained mechanics there in my opinion. I will not get my car repaired there, but will get my tires there. read more

This is the worst Firestone location. Extremely unprofessional and 2 Technicians on duty with a shop full of cars had me wondering how much attention to detail they actually put into vehicles. The so-called manager is short with customers and has the personality of a squash. Set an appointment and when arriving to drop off company vehicle, was told it probably wouldn't be done until evening or next day. 2 tires and an oil change?? Really? Suggest Les Schwab or Honest-1 for better customer experience. read more

Wednesday night at 530 pm my rear window fell out of alinement on my suv. I called about four different places before Firestone and they were the only ones that offered to lock my car up for the night so the inside would not be exposed to the elements and various critters that roam the night. My place does not have a garage and I was a bit panicked. Mike couldn't have been kinder to me in person and on the phone. He asked how long it would take for me to get there and it just so happens I was only 5 minutes or so away. He said drive safely don't rush and we will see you when you get here. The next day Justin called to advise me about my car and cost. I wasn't surprised due to the regulator has gone out before so I knew it would be spendy. He said they have the part but the technician had to work on cars that had appointments first but we should have it done by the end of the day. Then the déjà vu kicked in as I received a call later that after advising that the wrong part was ordered and the new one wouldn't be in until morning. This had happened previously as well. He did apologize and said the other part was a bit more but there would be no increase in price due to the error and assured me my car would once again be locked up and not left out. Which was way better than my pep boys experience last time. Late Friday morning mike calls and said it fixed and works great. I said I'm about a 20minute walk away he advised no rush that they would be here. When I got there he asked me how my walk was and discounted me a bit more for it taking longer than usual to repair. I am NEVER coming back to Firestone ever again. My friend recommended Firestone to me. I only tried it because les schwab is closed on Sunday's and I was in great need of new tires. I walked in, and asked for a pair of new tires. The guy didn't seem to care or want to help me at all. Then he takes my keys and tells me it's going to be a couple of hours and can't even give me an ETA when my car will be done. Then later, I'm sitting, waiting for my car to be done and this other person comes in to purchase new tires. And the person that helped me was soooooooo nice to him. The guy didn't even take his keys like he took mine. I discussed this with my friend that recommended Firestone to me and he said that I should've gone to a different branch. In my opinion, regardless of what branch I go to, I should expect to see the same customer service because it is within the same company. It's absolutely ridiculous. I can't believe how bad the customer service is here. I will NEVER come back to Firestone ever again. read more

I haven't read the other reviews, but when I needed to get my car aligned before headed back to Seattle, this was the only Firestone that said they could get me in that day without an appointment. And an hour or so later, they called me to tell me my car was ready. Unfortunately, my alignment was still out (apparently the cam bolt and shims I bought and had a friend install didn't cut it) but they did their best. However, my five stars comes from the fact that the dude there went on in depth about what happened to help my friend understand what he could and couldn't have done to avoid it. Now, I'm not 100% sure everything he said was right, as many others who have purchased the same shims and bolts have left stellar reviews online from their experiences (so I still think it was at least half user-error). Plus, he told me that "we don't even install shims in the back because it's just not worth it; keeping your front aligned is most important." And I recently had my tires aligned in Colorado--which is where I found out they were beyond fixing by the machine, and the dude in CO said he could/would install the shims and bolt if I wished. (But he wanted $750 for parts and 45 minutes of labor; no thanks.) So there's a bit of a discrepancy as to whether doing the shims is done by Firestone at all vs. only in CO vs. if they really need to be done, and why the heck the shims I had installed were a POS. That said, for a town that isn't super small, I felt like I got small-town treatment in terms of time and attention. Bottom line: I'd go back. read more

Refused to fix a tire, insisting that using fix-a-flat prevented their patch from working. Yes it can be cleaned out and repaired, but it takes more time than a simple flat. Don't lie to your customers, you just don't want to deal with the extra time required to get a customer back on the road. Much more cost-effective for you to try to sell me a new tire, apparently. My car window got stuck all the way down (turned out to be a broken window motor) and I was a bit panicked as it happened late in the afternoon on Sunday, when pretty much all auto repair stores are closed. After calling each Firestone in the Portland area, the location on 82nd was the only one that asked me to bring my car in despite being super busy, and they were able to get it seen and fixed within a couple hours. Guys at the counter (Steve and Dan, I think) were so helpful and friendly, and kudos to the mechanic Jason for squeezing the job in at the last second. I really appreciated their willingness to work with me despite the inconvenience; you made my day. Thanks guys! read more

We took our 2002 PT Cruiser in for oil change, alignment and tires. Only our front tires needed to be replaced, but we figured that they would say we'd need to replace all 4. To our pleasant surprise, they told us we only needed two! So we got two new tires, oil change and alignment and they were done in about an hour. The person helping us was so pleasant and professional. We will definitely be return customers! read more

I have credit through them and that is the only reason I have to use them. So, I ask for a diagnosis and an oil change. So, they find out that my head gaskets are bad and I'm leaking oil, so they go ahead and do the oil change anyways! What really! I don't fix cars but kind of pointless don't ya think? AND, the diagnostics done, they didn't tell me my rack and pinions are out or why my brakes still squeak or what the grinding sound is ever since I had them fix my brakes. read more

I've been in here a number of times. Decent service except on the weekends when Justin Creedon is working as vehicle service manager. This guy is a jerk. Told me he could have my car done in less than an hour. 6hrs later I come in to check how it's going. I point out that a car brought in after mine was done and gone. He tells me mine takes a bit of a more skilled hand than the other car. Yeah right. For a 100$ job of basic maintenance. He told the lady who checked in after me the exact same thing. Hers would take longer needing more skilled maintenance. But hers was out before mine. Immediately after I mention this he flips out. Gets loud. Gets my keys and tells me to get the hell out. I mean come on. I am a return customer having all the work done on my last two cars here I tell him. I tell him he couldnt do it he shouldn't have said he could have gotten to it and I'd have gone somewhere else. He says he doesnt give a shit and I can report him before he hands me these two business cards. read more

I took my car here a couple of times because the battery was dying. Instead of saying they couldn't fix it I kept getting nothing is wrong but the next time we'll refer you to the Hyundai dealership. Battery died again today so I called them back to see about said referral and Brad thought it was a good idea to make me feel like an idiot for not using Google. I guess I'll explain to the Hyundai dealership myself the results of their diagnostics test. Generally, nice guys but I for sure won't be going back. I was visiting Ptld from out of town & drove my truck to Firestone for a bad caliper on the driver's side. They told me I needed a caliper, rotor & lifetime brakes. The first quote was $482. Then before I left that day they said it'd be $582. A rep told me it cost more due to the new brakes being lifetime rather than standard. When I asked him why I couldn't have standard, he hesitated and said it was because of getting the caliper/rotors. I left my truck overnight to be repaired the next morning. The next morning they called & said it was $782 because it needed a spindle & some other stuff. They said they picked up a used spindle at a u pull it place & it would be $100 plus labor. Then they called back later & said it needed a $400 CV axle & some other parts with the whole repair costing upwards to $1500. At that point I got my sister, brother & his mechanic to go with me to look at it. The mechanic looked at the spindle that was on my car & said the pin hole was freshly drilled out & he thought they had done it. They denied it. My sister pointed out metal shavings on the floor & the guy said it was from work on a previous car. So either they were flat out lying, or the shop cleanup is so poor they'd leave metal shavings on the floor & risk it getting shavings in other customers tires. At that point I said I would be taking my vehicle elsewhere. They had all four tires off, which made no sense since they were working on the front brakes, & we had to wait for awhile for them to put it back together. My brother demanded to see the price break down on what they were going to charge to repair my vehicle & the Firestone rep repeatedly flat out refused to show us. When I got my truck back from them, the rotor had two big chunks out of it, the CV axle was damaged on the tip where it had been beaten with a hammer & there was a damaged lugnut & mismatched lug nuts on the one wheel. On the final invoice, which was changed from the original invoice, Firestone had the nerve to lwrite the boss decided not to repair my vehicle, which was a straight up lie as we were the ones who refused to let them repair it. When my brothers mechanic went to change the brakes/rotors, he found the spindle on the opposite side also was damaged & he thought it looked as tho someone had used an impact wrench on it, recently stripping two pins & damaging the threads on the spindle. Until the caliper seized, I had been driving back & forth to Portland with no problems. Just prior to the caliper seizing, I had my truck at a different Firestone to talk about tires & we looked at the wheels/tires and there was no damage to the lugnuts at all. I believe the damage to the lugnuts was purposeful in retaliation for my brother chewing Happy Valley Firestone out for what he thought was them trying to take advantage of me & for me deciding to take my truck elsewhere. I am considering filing a police report and/or a complaint with the attorney general. I did get my vehicle repaired for $600+ by my brothers mechanic. I was told by that mechanic that I could run standard brakes, even though Firestone never gave me that option. He also bought a used spindle from u pull it for $20 and I bought a brand new cv axle for $70. Firestone obviously marks the prices of parts up exponentially. After that experience, I will never buy another Firestone product or service again. read more

Been going to this Firestone for years and always had good service. I moved to Seattle recently; went to a Seattle Firestone and got 4 new tires. I was visiting my parents in PDX for Labor Day weekend and on my way out of town I busted my (brand new!) front tire on a curb. I called Firestone at 7am when they opened. The advisor (Justin I think) told me to bring in the wheel and he would request a replacement from the closest store that had it in stock (Tigard). I dropped off my wheel, and they rotated my spare to the back to make driving on it easier. I awaited their call about the finished wheel (due to arrive at 3 or 4pm) until about 5:45pm, when they called to tell me the tire never arrived! They put a similar tire on my wheel so I could go back to Seattle that night, and I can get the correct tire here. The replacement was free of course because it was less than 30 days old and they stayed open past 6pm to finish the job, plus offered me a free oil change for the inconvenience. Great, especially for a chain. Of you're in the area, this is the place to go! read more

We have been a customer of Firestone's for both our cars for about 30 years when we lived in the area. We have always received excellent service and treated with professional courtesy. On 12/15/18 we took our car in for service prior to a holiday vacation. There was never a question about the cost of the service although I was taken back by the cost of an air filter but the employee that called me told me it would be $48 for a filter I was taken back by the cost for a filter. The employee explained it was because it wasn't a stock item they had to buy from the dealer and put their mark-up on it. I accepted that as I didn't have time to do any research on was the filter. I was told that could pick the car up at about 5:00 PM. The problem we had was with Keith the service person who closing out our ticket. My wife asked him how much the various service were and he had an issue on detailing what the costs were and he went on a rant how I had complained about excesses of the costs, which was totally untrue. I never mentioned mentioned the costs to him, when I said that I didn't complain about anything to Keith or anyone he said that what I was saying was untrue. Myself or my wife have never been treated so rudely by anyone in the service industry. When I told Keith that I will probably not return to the store he said he didn't care. I find disturbing that Firestone has employees like Keith with a total lack of customer service on the counter. read more

I get a lot of so so treatment when I go in to get anything done on my car. Usually I am treated like an uninformed "girl", but this was not the case today. There was some confusion on the price when I came in but rather than getting a too bad so sad response they made it work for me. They didn't make me feel like an ass for it either. my wife and took our jeep into this shop to have the vehicle inspected because I thought there might be something wrong with the front end of the vehicle. upon arrival the store manager nick greated us and was very personable. he wrote up our work order with my concerns and had his tech. Jimmy take a test drive with me. when we got back to the shop he had our vehicle in right away. after about 1/2 hour nick came back to us and stated that all looked great and pulled our jeep out and off we went. when we drove our vehicle on the freeway we noticed a bad vibration that was not there before and drove back to his shop immediately. I explained the issue to nick and he pulled the Jeep back in the shop immediately and found out that Jimmy rotated the tires. so rather then putting the tires back to there original position he had Jimmy rebalence the tires at no charge. rather then writing a negative review I just want to say that being an ex firestone employee for the past 27 years and nick did not know this.. I really appreciated nick and Jimmy for going up and beyond to take care of my concerns, especially when nick is severely understaffed and running the store by himself as most locations are usually understaffed as will. so now just moving into the area from out of state I know that I have found our firestone store for all my needs in the future....great job guys!!! read more
