I dropped off my jeep at A1 automotive on a Monday Tuesday . They told me what the problem was so they fixed the grounding from one of the sensors and then two more codes came up when I picked it up on Wednesday so I dropped it off on Wednesday morning and it sat in the same parking space till Friday so I figured they didn't have time for me They said they were busy. so I took it to a jeep dealer and they told me that the reason the codes are up is because A1 installed the grounding wrong . This place is the best. I have a 2006 Ranger which runs well and hasn't become a money pit yet. Reviews must be fake because there's no reason this mechanic should have such great reviews and this many stars. The issues I had... No communication Disregard for other people's property Didn't know what they were doing Timeliness or sense of urgency Being pushed to the back burner I'll start by saying I scheduled an appointment and had to wait three weeks to get in. Finally when I get in I have my vehicle towed (which is my only vehicle). When it was dropped off I checked in, handed over my keys explained my problems I was having as well as listed off the OBD codes that I had and then I left. I figured it would take a couple days so I waited and I waited. A week later I finally decided to pick up the phone and call them because they hadn't called me yet to give me any updates. When speaking to Brian he told me that my vehicle was not a priority because I just had it towed in and there were other people that had appointments that they needed to get to first. I told him that was not true and that I had an appointment scheduled and had to wait 3 weeks to get in. After a little bit of back-and-forth he checked and found out I did have an appointment. He did apologize and said he would make sure he got right on it. 4 MONTHS LATER I finally received my vehicle back. Again, this vehicle was my only vehicle and I'm still paying for it, so renting a car & paying for a financed vehicle even for a short period of time can be struggling, but for four months, I struggled. I filed for bankruptcy because I couldn't afford my credit card payments and my car payment and the rental car payments. It was my choice I decided to file for bankruptcy but the sense of urgency wasn't there when it came to fixing my vehicle and that took a toll financially. I took my vehicle in at the beginning of summer. The doors were off. The top was off. My jeep was ready for summer, but fall came, and winter came. Still no doors or top on my vehicle because they haven't fixed it yet. The reason I bring this up is because I now have mold in the back of my jeep because at some point it was not covered properly during the rain. There was a little to no communication whatsoever when it came to letting me know what was going on. I constantly had to call and find out myself what was going on. They don't return calls, in fact today I called because my check engine light came on for the second time after I got my car back (the first time the light came on was an hour after I picked up my car and I took it in but Brian just cleared the code) Well the check engine light went off again, and instead of taking it back to Brian I decided to take it to Jeep. I paid $185 to jeep because the brake pedal sensor was not calibrated properly or at all when the computer and ABS module was replaced in my vehicle by A1 Automotive. I argued with Brian several times regarding my vehicle because he told me several times that it would be ready by a certain date and it wasn't. I felt like I was pushing him to do his job. I was never made a priority during the time my vehicle was there. The first thing they did was replaced the battery thinking that was the issue that I had. Well, there went $500. Then I was told it must be the relay there went another $200. So we're just throwing parts at my vehicle, hoping it was going to fix the problem and nothing was working. He ended up callingl a third-party to try to get them to figure out what was going on and that third-party had it narrowed down to the computer and or the ABS module, so I told Brian to purchase them both thinking I'm going to finally have my vehicle back. Well he sat on those parts until I had to tell him just to put them in. I don't care if it works or not put it in so he put them in. Well it worked. I shouldn't have had to make that decision for him. And because I made that decision I told him I was not paying for that third-party because they couldn't tell him what part it was that needed to be replaced. There's also another concerning matter. I believe the A1 Automotive damaged a part in my vehicle that is almost impossible to replace. I don't know for sure, but I can tell you what I do know, and you can make your judgment.The connector that connects the computer to the car, I was told that there were pins, broken or damaged, and let whoever was underneath the hood previously must've damaged it. I didn't think anything at the time but after thinking about it for a while I realized nobody else has been under the hood except for A1 Automotive it was a brand new vehicle. So how the pins got broke or damaged unless it was the manufacturer that did it themselves. It would've been A1 Automotive that damaged the pins. He said he was able to get it working but I'm not sure what kind of issues I'm gonna have down the road because of the damage to the connector for the computer. Lastly, I don't know what kind of deal they have with AAA but when I asked for my AAA discount, he didn't give it to me read more

Had my car towed there bc it wouldn't start, and after having it almost 4 MONTHS, being told it was grounding issues, possible computer issues, and spending over $600 towards this issue, it wasn't resolved. I had it TOWED to Nissan who said it was just a bad battery.. swapped it out and it's been fine since. The mechanic was nice, but wow.. the battery? Really? Although I haven't had a full service done to my vehicle here yet I'm giving them full marks for their customer service. I was in a rush to have a used car inspected recently and they were able to make room for me to stop by the same day. Timing like that probably wouldn't happen like that too often so I'm considering myself very lucky. The inspection only got as far as the initial step of checking the car's computer for service codes. Brian was very helpful explaining what the codes meant and what scenarios I had on my hands and there were a few. Since the rest of inspection was not worth the time that day I headed out. Took my broken suv in to A1 because it broke down near their shop. The initial person I spoke to was great and the receptionist was also great. Once the vehicle was in, I had to call a few times to get an update. Understandably, they were busy but I was told several times that someone would call me back right away and they never did. A few days after I dropped it off, they called and gave me the bad news....bad engine. It was a gut punch. I came by to pickup the vehicle to limp it home to part it out. Immediately after getting in, it ran worse than ever before. It wasn't drivable. I was never advised to not drive it. About 5 minutes down the road the engine started making terrible noises and smoking. I pulled over and called their shop and said I was stranded. I was hoping they could give some insight or at least help with a tow. I was told the technician would call me right back. Nope. No call back whatsoever. In the end, they did a good job with diagnostic (1 star) and their receptionist was great (1 more star). But the lack of empathy and no call back 10 mins after breaking down out their door really felt disrespectful. It's my experience, nothing more. But I'll be going elsewhere in the future. read more

I don't even know where to begin. I have had an ongoing issue with my car since September of 2018. A-1 has been there since the beginning to help me with this issue. They continued to help me with this issue even beyond things they didn't fix themselves. Everyone at A-1 is outstanding from top to bottom. I have to give a special shot out to the service manager, Bryan. Who has been my personal hero with helping to get my car in tip top shape. There was an issue that only a Hyundai dealership could fix. He could have easily told me that and sent me off. But you know what he did? He took it there himself to make sure it was fixed properly and to his standards. What other shop would have done that?! The situation with my car has been stressful at times but has been managed wonderfully by the A-1 crew. I don't know much about cars but they are one of the few places who have been 100% transparent and honestly with me. A-1 is the true definition of what customer service should be. As long as I live in Portland, they will always have a customer with me. If you live in the area and care about your car, you need to take it to A-1. Long and short of it. I have a '97 Subaru Legacy Outback that needed brake servicing after having been stolen and recovered. Called around for quotes, and was told at multiple places it would be anywhere from $300-500 bucks. Some of those places even tried to tell me I needed all 4 pads/rotors changed at the same time since its an AWD vehicle. What? 11AM - Called up A-1 and wasn't feeling too hopeful, but I got a friendly voice on the phone, laid out my situation and was told I would be called back by a tech as soon as possible. 11:10AM - Received call from tech, asked me what I wanted, and where I was located, car info, etc. Dismissed the other shop trying to scam me, and told me at most would be $185 for new pads and machining rotors for the rear as my fronts were at 80% life. Asked about new rotors, and price went up to $225. No brainer... Asked about scheduling, and said he could even take me that same day. 3:30PM - Out of work, head over, drop off car, explain situation, then get dropped off at home at no cost! 5:15PM - Get a call, someone is on their way to get me, car is done. 5:25PM - No more braking noise, and get told car is in excellent shape for the amount of mileage and overall age (21 years, 178k mi). Here's the kicker. They ask how I heard about them in the first place. I mention yelp, and THEY are the ones to mention their first-time client sign in special... took $20 bucks off the already low total... A+ in my book. Honest, fairly priced work with damned good service to boot. Definitely bringing in both of my cars here for further servicing. read more
