Had to wait 4 days for a appointment for the safety check. When I arrived at my appointment time I had to wait in line behind 2 clients who were buying tires because there was no other attendant. They were instructed to call me when it was complete (2 hours for a safety check- what a joke) I was not called! I called them after 3 hours. They said it was done and it passed. Then I had to spend 35 minutes in line again to check out. When I mentioned that I was there to check out the rude woman said that I would have to wait my turn and that they were understaffed. I will never go back for services here. They also won't answer their phone most of the time. Rude and understaffed is the bottom line. Management needs to get involved here. Employees had no problem expressing their disgruntled attitude towards understaffing to customers. read more

When making my appointment, I was told that the procedure would take 3 hours and that they would call me when it was done. Dropped my car off and I waited, and waited, and waited. Over 6 hours later, and a missed appointment, I decided to call them to check on the status of my vehicle. It took me over 20 minutes to get through, and the person that I spoke to kept making excuses about why it was taking so long. When they actually checked on my car, they discovered that had been done by the designated time, but no one had bothered to call me. When i inquired why no one had called, they became rude and disrespectful to me on the phone! Two thumbs up!! We had a tire emergency on our 2000 Honda Civic and are on a very strict budget. After looking around online these guys seemed like the cheapest option... 2 Stars? Oh gawd, here we go. We were expecting the crappy service others had reported but firestone was actually answering those complaints. Beggars can't be choosers so we took the risk. Customer service. They are doing something right these days because there were two people at the desk and a short line which moved faster than some drive thru joints around here. The reps were very friendly and helped us find an even better deal than we were planning on. They found a few small issues with the car that we turned down to have fixed without fuss since they are already on my radar. The work was done on time and with extras that I was not expecting. The rims were pretty rusty so they CLEANED THE RUST AND PAINTED RUST INHIBITOR ON THEM!!! Awesome!!! :):):) I put the hubcaps back on after they dried fully and they look great! THANK YOU!! I wanted to keep one of the tires to use as a spare since our donut leaks and they got it right! That has always been screwed up by other vendors. The waiting lounge is big and comfy with a tv and reading material. There is a minute stop right next door. I actually sat out front there so I could keep an eye on the work while the kids and Mrs enjoyed the aircon. Courteous, attentive, professional, competitive prices. Got our front brakes fixed a year ago, lifetime "warranty". Well a year later our front brakes need to be completely redone, cause was determined to be the master cylinder.. told Me they would honor the warranty only and if only we get master cylinder work done with them.. if we go elsewhere they won't honor the warranty. They were quoting me at 850 for master cylinder way too high!! Absolutely ridiculous, they told me they could honor the warranty knowing it was the master cylinder that caused the whole Brake system Pretty much to be ruined... but plain wouldn't do it unless we gave them the job for master cylinder.. complete bullshit.. don't trust any warranty they give you. My experience with firestone was literally the worst experience I've ever had in my life. First of all, I chose Firestone because I believed that they were a reputable business and did their due diligence when hiring their employees. However, this was not the case in my opinion. I had called into firestone on a Saturday morning stating that I believed there was an issue with my breaks, explaining that I felt the car slightly jolt while I was breaking and I wanted to bring the car in to check if the issue was regarding my breaks or possibly something else. Dropped my car off and 5 hours later get a call saying that my breaks were worn down and that they needed to be changed. So I think yes, they drove the car, the felt the jolt, they found a problem with my breaks. I give them the okay to fix my breaks. We go to firestone to pick up my car and see that an employee is coming back from a second test drive... $600 and 8 hours later I get my car back but soon as I drive off the lot I can feel the jolt in my car as I'm breaking.. I come back the next day (Sunday) explaining that the issue is still occurring and the manager (Louie) rudely tells me that there is nothing that he can do for me and that I'll have to bring the car in another time for the technician to test drive the car. I bring the car back the following Saturday and wait a total of 2 hour for the tech to test drive the car.. he then tells me the issue is with my transmission.. not the breaks? WHY WAS THIS NOT CAUGHT THE FIRST TWO TIMES YOU DROVE THE CAR? On the wall of the firestone, there is a disclaimer stating "fixed right the first time or its free" but when I asked for a refund they put all the blame on me stating that "you told us that there was a problem with your breaks" and I'm thinking 1. I know NOTHING about cars 2. Why did you not catch this the first time? 3. Why is there no responsibility for mistakes being taken by this business? At this point I'm brought to tears in the store because he's telling me that I paid $600 to get my breaks fixed (only the front breaks, which is an outrageous amount of money, when they told me $600 I thought they meant and back and front) and I need to spend another $1000 to actually get the issue fixed. The customer service rep is being so rude telling me that he needs to help the next customer, which I understand, other people were waiting, however, I waited in line for over 30 minutes for my turn and he was telling me that he needed to tend to these other customers. Finally I gave up and went home. I ended up calling the firestone corporate office and filed a complaint on this location. 2 hours later I got a call from the firestone location in Hilo stating that they were willing to give back $200 of the $600 that I paid. I had so much stress and anxiety regarding this issue for the past week that I just gave in and took the $200.. Writing this review so that others do not fall into the same trap that I did. If you are reading this and wondering if you should go to this location to service your car.. save yourself some time and money and go to a local business rather than a franchises company. read more

I took my car in for oil change and new tires because my tire pressure sensor light was on. After paying $900 for the job my tire pressure light was still on. I have been working aloot and was not able to take my car in to get looked at so I took it in 2/7/20 and they call and tell me my 2 front sensors are bad and its gonna cost me a total of $400 to get it fixed. I agreed because I want it fixed but tthey should have caught it and fixed it in December when I had the tires off. They fail to do a proper diagnostic even though they charge you for one. read more

Been trying to contact the Hilo Hawaii location for days now, impossible to get through via phone & can't find an email. I went to purchase 2 new tires & was told 2 hours for the work. They said they would call me when the car was done, after not hearing & wasting time trying to call I showed up. There was 1 rep helping a store full of customers & I waited 30 min to check out. I has my 9 yr old daughter with me and the entire 30 min the store had a custom car show on that was more like a smutty reality show with so much profanity it was totally offensive! The only word they beeped out was the f*** word and there were sections of the show that were so filled with the f*** word it was just solid beeping..... Then a firestone employee used the f*** word to finish to offensive experience. When I dropped the car off I specifically requested the new tires go on the back & the back tires get moved to the front. I confirmed that this was the safest option, the firestone employee confirmed this. After I pd and left the store (with still a long line of customers) and got home I noticed the new tires were in the front!! They failed to follow my instructions or safety protocol and still put the new tires in the front! This store did the same thing to my mothers vehicle last spring and within weeks the car was totaled in a hydroplane accident in a hamakua gulch with my brother & his small children in the car!! Only after the accident did he notice that Firestone had put the new tires in the FRONT of the vehicle!! This was why I was so clear about how I wanted the new tires installed, only to be ignored and put at risk yet again!! Being here in Hilo we have limited options for these services & it feels like this store is taking full advantage of that fact with incomplete & unsafe services. read more

The man at the counter acted as if he NEVER saw me - and yet he is the one who made the appt with me the day before. He looked at me - the picked up the phone and called two other customers before every acknowledging or offering to help me. Another staffer walked in and helped check my car in. I was warned by John the counter guy when I made the appt it might take an hour or 1.5 hours as they arent a speedy oil change center - which I now know is an understatement! I waited 2.5 hours for an oil change! But wait it gets Worse. After two+ hours of waiting - I went to the front desk and waited for the counter guy to acknowledge me. AFTER he completed some paperwork, and seeing four customers behind me, he kindly acknowledged the guy behind me and THEN - PRAISE BE- he said can I help you. I had my brakes and tires done at Firestone in Hilo. My brakes were failing a year later. And I got a warning sign on my dash that my brake pressure was low. I pulled out my owners manual for my 2016 prius. I checked by brake fluid and it was low. I refilled it to specs. the warning signs went away. 3days later the warning sign came back and the brake was going to the floor. I took it to Firestone as they have a lifetime warrantee on repairs. The mechanic said he replaced the caliper as it was leaking. and suggested also replacing the other one. He was not aware that Firestone did the original work. He sent my car home with us saying it was repaired but had warning notices when he took it in. When I got home I had my sweet wife drive it home only to realize it still has Fading brakes. I had it towed the next day for fear it might kill us on the way home. They sent us home saying he bled the brakes and it was fine now. I told the salesperson that if their repair person was not capable of repairing my car properly he should not be working on Brakes especially. If I can't trust my life and my sweet wifes, to your work person because he is inept to work on brakes you will be responsible. So much for warrantees they said to go see Toyota. Needed one new tire and it took 3 hours. After waiting three hours we were told we need a key to replace the tire? Even though they recently replaced a tire and never asked for a key before. They ended up having the "key" which was just a normal tool. The tire they sold us was marked up almost double the price. We paid almost $200. The guy who helped us kept trying to upsell us telling us we need all new tires, he was trying to tell us the tire pressure was at 55 but it was at 45, he had no idea what he was talking about it seemed like between the tire pressure and the tire key. Made an app at 1:30pm. I arrived 15 minutes early. My appointment was for repair a flat and a oil change. It took this business 3 hours to complete such a simple job. I drove away at 4:45pm. The acting manager was rude and didn't hold the companies policies to a professional standard. I had a dog in a travel airline crate. The desk and mechanic took my vehicle for the appointment and drove it into the bay. Knowing the dog was in a safe, secure airline crate. The acting manager was not clear with their policies. Telling me no dogs are allowed in the vehicles while in the bay. Remind you now the front desk n mechanic took my vehicle knowing of the dog in the airline crate. The acting manager then tells me if it was a small dog then it wouldn't be a problem. Remind you now he just said No dogs is allowed but now it's ok if it's a small dog. Right there is conflict and unprofessional of the standards not including his staff not holding those standards from the beginning. 3 hours I waited as I watch the mechanic and acting manager walk around in the bay not working on my vehicle. I didn't take the dog out. The dog was safe and secure. They still worked and finished my vehicle with the dog still inside. I went through a unnecessary wait and rudeness confrontation from the acting manager. I would Not recommend this business nor will I ever go back. This used to be a really good auto shop but lately things have changed. I had to take my front brakes in three times before they fixed them. Each time they came up with an excuse why they had to charge me more even though they were the ones who did the work and it was supposed to be a lifetime service agreement. I took my car in to get the wheels balanced and they didn't do the work right. I have to return with the request that they do a better job. I mistakenly took my partners car to them and agreed to an inspection that included checking tire pressure. When I got the car back and suspected something was wrong I found 2 tires 8 pound low and one 8 pounds over inflated. It appears they never even looked at the pressure. Now I'm on the hook for a bad recommendation. Something has changed and the service has really declined. read more

I needed new tires for my car. They had the best prices in town so I made an appt and brought my car in at 10 am. they told me I could come back in 2 hrs. I gave them 3 hrs. When I went back the car was on the rack but all the work was done (the mechanic told me). It took them another HOUR to finish up everything (paper work and helping other customers) before I finally left! It's a good thing I didn't have to pick up my child from school or take my mom to the doctor! If they are going to take 4 HOURS just say so when I drop off my car, don't lead me along and say "about 10 more minutes" everytime I ask when they'll finish!!! Although I had a 9am appointment and they had told me it would only take 1.5 to 2 hours, I would have waited all day if I didn't ask for my keys back 2.5 hours later. My truck was super messed up... the engine seemed like it would explode. Took it to firestone cause it was open late and close. Met with Tom and he was fantastic. He explained everything and they did the work. And it needed a lot of work... pretty sure they took apart my engine and put it back together completely. It actually wasn't perfect the first day around but I brought it back and it's cherry. Glad they back up their work. Tom was the bomb. I would give less than one star if I could. Made an appointment for 3:30. Got here at 3 just to be in safe side. Needed two tires replaced so I could pass safety check. I live in ocean view so an hour and a half away. By 4:30 my car was still sitting outside waiting for service even after I told them where I lived and that I was trying to get safety check done before mechanic closed for the day so I would not need to come back another day from Ocean View. Almost 5pm. Car finally in. No telling when it will be done but I will probably have to make a trip in on another day to get my safety check . EPIC FAIL FIRESTONE!! I want to edit my review. After I wrote and posted this, my car was done in record time. And Firestone made it right, gave me a discount of my total bill, for which I was very grateful. And the timeliness of the completion of my car allowed me to make it over to get my safety check before Sean B's closed for the day. Thanks Firestone for making it right. read more
