This year, before I walked into the building, a nice employee walked out and told me it would be a long wait due to several employees being out of work with the flu, I was grateful that he was concerned enough to tell me before I walked in and would had been exposed to the flu. He gave me the times for inspections the next day. It took 7 minutes the next day. Literally sat down in the waiting area and was able to pay my online vehicle registration 3 minutes after I paid the nice gentleman at the Valvoline cash register. It's a place where I don't have to hide things in my car because I don't have to worry about them stealing items.

I was asked to wait for a replacement, though the details shared with me at the time felt vague and uncertain. Unfortunately, during a recent service with my previous mechanic, I learned that a temporary plug had been used for my oil change which would have happened at Take 5--and that the threads in my oil pan were stripped during the prior oil change at that location. This led to me having to replace the entire oil pan, which cost over $1,000. The team at the shop was genuinely kind, and I appreciate the respectful way they treated me. That said, I'm concerned that either the training they've received is lacking or certain steps are being skipped in their process. The process is too rushed, and it is a concern. They offered me 50% off my next oil change and now I see why. I don't take leaving a negative review lightly, but this experience has been financially frustrating especially with my car being fairly new. I've reached out to customer service, and unfortunately haven't heard back. Because of this, I've decided I won't be returning at this time--but I sincerely hope the company takes steps to improve service quality moving forward. Update: I finally received a response from the shop. They claimed the warranty is no longer valid because I "waited too long" to report the issue. However, I reached out immediately--on the same day I was notified of the problem. The delay, they say, was due to me contacting the corporate email instead of the Kernersville location directly. For context: I specifically asked corporate for the franchise's email, and they declined to provide it. Corporate stated that they forwarded my message that I sent on Friday, July 25, 2025 ( when the issue was brought to my attention) to the franchise on Jul 28, 2025. The shop is responding August 13, 2025 after multiple follow-ups. They also stated over the phone that they don't remove the plug during an oil change--which left me wondering why I was asked to wait while they looked for a replacement? Also, why did you charge me for the replacement? And the receipt clearly shows the plug was replaced. They also said to look at the warranty details on the back and the back page is blank. They've now launched an investigation to look into what happened. I'll share more details as they become available. Update - September 1, 2025: It has now been over two weeks since I was told an investigation was underway, yet I've received no follow-up or communication. At this point, I'm left to assume that no action will be taken and that the matter is being quietly dismissed. Should I receive any updates, I'll revise this review. In the meantime, I recommend exercising caution if you choose to bring your vehicle to this shop. Also if they mention needing to replace a plug, be sure to ask what happened to the original--clarity upfront can save you trouble later. Also, feel free to mention that a temporary plug can damage your oil pan and see if they offer you a more appropriate solution especially since, well, they lost or damaged it and you noticed immediately.

Only one customer ahead of us and her car was almost done. After an hour (with only two other customers in that time) I asked how it was going. They were only half way done! Ok, fine. walked to a nearby restaurant to eat, came back, still not done. Finally manager came out to let us know someone had to help the one guy doing our tires and they were about done (they had the car for 2 hours). So they are slower than the IRS and the fees/costs they neglect to mention online, yeah.... $550 for the tires and ANOTHER $250 to put them on ! I have gone to the one they have in Clemmons a few times for an oil change and stopped because they were overturning the bolts and eroded them away making it difficult to continue maintenance. That was several years ago and hadn't had that problem since at other servicers so I was hesitant to try this place. I pulled in and a man greeted me at my car and had me pull up behind another that was currently being worked on. Then politely guided me to the waiting area while I waited for it to be inspected. It was small but clean and even offered complimentary water and coffee. It just took a bit longer than I was expecting. At my old place, it may have only taken 15-30 minutes to get my car inspected but it was closer to 45 minutes to an hour here. They didn't try to sell our uncharged me on anything though which I appreciated.
