I had to take 2 Star off because of a certain employee named Erik. My boyfriend dropped off new rims for my car to get tires put on because of the sale for tires that's happening unfortunately we couldn't pick them up the same day. When I came today around 1230 to pick them up Erik was helping another customer and another employee Cesar just got on for his shift and was going to help me out. Erik stepped in and was very condescending to me and Cesar his coworker. He was like "oh the rims that were supposed to be picked up at 7 am? That's you?" I responded that I wasn't told a time. My family and boyfriend have been coming to Firestone for years and we have never been told to come at a certain time to pick something up that's being worked on. Only as long as we come around 5 so people have time to go home, that's why we didn't pick up tires the night before. Also their tires, they were set outside the workshop in the shade and there were only 2 of them so I know they couldn't be an inconvenience. Cesar assured me it wasn't a problem and to not worry about it. Afterwards Cesar apologized because he couldn't find my work order right away so I could pay for the tires. Again almost immediately Erik chimed in, "was the name Nick? See you have to ask the right questions" directed towards Cesar. His attitude was all over the place there was more said towards Cesar and even himself looking over paperwork criticizing other employees work but I don't want to make my post too long, I just know if he was like that with me and his coworker in a 10 min transaction I can't imagine how it is when no one is around. If I comeback I will ask for anyone else to help me the last thing I want is to be talked down on when picking up tires. read more

I've been coming to this Firestone location for over 6yrs for all of my tire and alignment needs, and they always deliver on service and value. Chris the manager gets his hands dirty, and is always helpful in figuring out a solution. I just bought a new car about 6 months ago and surprise surprise, as with many new cars, it didn't come with a spare tire. I purchased the wheel and tire and brought it in to get it mounted. Chris personally handled the spare and got me in and out of there in less than 10 minutes! I really appreciate the great customer service and getting me out the door so quickly! I had a coupon for free break inspection. My car was checked, i was shown how many Millimeters i had left for my breaks. Amazon literally sells a kit for $59. I had to go to their dealership and go by the wheel lock. On 1 occasion I noted tire tread recorded as higher from previous visit (tread doesn't grow on tires). I told manager and he replied "sometimes they are in a hurry and just put a number". On another occasion they kept my car all day for alignment and oil change and when I got my paperwork, no alignment done. Recently had a repair and got home to find parts literally weren't screwed in and repair wasn't done correctly in general. Last, just went in and see small BBB sticker on front window, yet the BBB website clearly stated Firestone is NOT accredited with BBB. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES! read more

Updated 2/29/24 I reviewed this location about 3 days ago because I found a huge oil spot under my truck on my new paver driveway after getting an oil change. The day after my review, the manager Chris texted me and and advised me that he would call me back the following day he was at work. Chris called and apologized and took ownership of the mistakes that "may" have taken place while my vehicle was at the La Mesa Location. I explained to him that the oil filter housing was loose and it was dripping oil. Again, Chris apologized. What stood out to me was not that fact that he apologized, it was the fact that Chris took full ownership of it and even blamed himself as the manager of the shop for pushing his subordinates to work faster. To me, this shows great leadership, extreme ownership and accountability. Chris offered to re-do my oil change and check my vehicle out. I declined and opted for my money back so I can change my own oil like I've done in the past but couldn't due to my sprained ankle. When I came in to the shop today, I advised Chris that I had tightened my filter housing and felt as if the bottom filter drain plug was loose. Chris advised that they normally do not drain the filter housing first and just remove the filter housing all together. This explains why there was a huge mess under truck. By removing just the filter without draining, that's a ton of oil that gets on the skid plate and later leaked on to my driveway. This is probably why I will be doing my own oil change as usual. I bumped my review up to 4 stars. 3 stars for the messy oil change, added another star for Chris's leadership. Firestone (management) refunded the price ($120) of my oil change. Only thing wasted in my opinion was my time and a little elbow grease attempting to clean up the oil marks. I thank Chris the manager at Firestone for attempting to make it right. Origninal Google Review Monday 2/26/24 I have reviewed Firestone in the past. I was totally happy with their service during my past visit. I have not driven my truck since the service and left it parked in my driveway for a week. Tonight I come home with an oil spot on the driveway. I look underneath and discover that my oil filter housing is leaking oil and my skid plate on my tacoma is completely soaked in oil. I've been pretty meticulous about keeping my vehicle serviced and clean. Now I have to power wash and scrub my driveway and drop the skid plate to get the oil cleaned up. I'm pretty bummed that this occurred since I was looking forward to taking my vehicle at this location on the regular. I am hoping the manager calls me or emails me after this review. Had a really great experience at this location with manager Chris and his staff. Made an appointment a week prior to have my brakes inspected-- squeaky noise produced when braking and my tires as the tread was starting to fade. No wait once we got to the location, friendly welcome and quick check in. Chris was extremely knowledgeable and honest which was refreshing because it's hard to find an honest mechanic these days. He delivered good news that our brakes were in great condition but my tires weren't in the best shape. He offered a great discount on a pair which we could not turn down. I'm not sure why the average ratings here are so low! I've been bringing my car here for years and I've never had an issue. The guys up front are very thorough with explaining the work that was done on my car or what work they are recommending. I've had my brakes repaired here and I've gotten several oil changes. I do recommend calling ahead to request an appointment. They will call you when your car is going into the bay and explain what the results of their assessment were. They also go through the cost of each recommended service with you BEFORE they do any labor, so you can make an informed choice about what you'd like done. read more

Second, I called to pick the car because I decided not go through with their additional and over price service. When I arrived prior my call 20 mins before, I was told it'll take 30 min for my vehicle to be ready. personally, I don't recommend coming here if you don't have any knowledge about vehicle maintenance. Do NOT go here. I went in for a consultation to see if my car needed any work, as it had been a minute since I'd gotten it checked out and they were offering a $10 consultation. I thought that seemed like a good deal (it is NOT, I've since learned that most shops can and should do that for free) and came in. Not only were they condescending but they were going to charge me upwards of $700 for brake repair and an oil change. They also told me my "battery was testing bad" and needed to be changed asap. When I asked how long the battery would last they said a couple months, tops. I ended up taking my car to a garage mechanic for a second opinion and not only was he able to do my brake repair and oil change for FAR cheaper, he confirmed that my battery was fine and would last another 2-3 years. He didn't charge me to look at my car, and was far kinder and more helpful than the guys at Firestone. Again, do not go to this shop, ESPECIALLY if you are a woman or if you don't know that much about cars. Not only did they try to seriously upcharge me, they also lied about the condition of my vehicle to try to convince me to get a service that was not needed. I spoke to Ken about my little problem. At 5:00 p.m. on a Friday. When I got there was almost 5:30 p.m., and he helped me out right away and my problem was solved immediately. Who else would have done that, with a smile no less? Very disappointed. They found a nail in one tire but failed to check my other tires... immediately my tire light came on. They tried to say I needed to drive it 15 mins for the light to go off and if it didn't, could be the sensor. Avoid this firestone for any inspections. Called Wednesday to schedule a brake inspection , went in on Thursday on time to my appointment. Takes them 15 minute to pull car in, another half hour the car is sitting in the bay, after another 30 minutes they finally lift it up, 30 minutes after lifting it up they decide to remove wheels and let it sit up in the air for an hour. All this wait when i was told it would be no more than an hour and a Half. Definitely avoid this firestone for any brake inspection. read more

I had a flat tire occur during my lunch, and they put the service that I needed literally in high gear. The Service Manager Kinfe even took it upon himself to lend a hand to get me on the road again as soon as possible. The shop was busy, but the work with other vehicles was getting done in an organized and systematic way. In addition, the tires I chose were in stock for being a semi-unique size. If I had the time I would have changed all 4 tires instead of 2, but I'll be back to get the others soon. I had an appointment scheduled for an oil change and it lasted one hour. The technician had an attitude be he has to work on a Saturday. He tried offering me to get my wipers replaced, wheel alignment, and brake pad repair and I declined. The audacity to have poor customer service and up charging is disturbing. Nope! Don't ever go here for anything other than tires. Got a new set of tires and an oil change ($90 for the oil which was crazy!). The tires are fine (maybe a little more pricey than other alternatives) but the oil change was done so poorly and with a lack of quality assurance checks that they had left the cap either off or loose. This caused the oil to flood out of the car leaving me with a bone dry engine 2 days after having my oil done. While driving, overheating occurred left my car with subsequent engine damage that they still don't admit fault to. If their mechanics are incompetent enough to not plug the oil cap, then why trust them with anything at all. Please avoid the pain and price and go somewhere else. I never thought I'd have to deal with something like this before, so don't follow suit and just try elsewhere. read more

I went there because one of front tires was wearing out unevenly. I thought with an alighnment it could be fixed. So I made an appointment for 3 pm but they didn't even start on the untill 4 pm Then the guys all under the hood 30 min and checks the aligihnment for about 20min. The problem is they don't do anything to fix the problem. They just take a measurement of the alighnment and as long as it's within factory specs that's it. They give a copy of the findings without trying to solve the issue. They can't call themselves a car service if they can't fix a car.what a Ripoff. read more

I went to this location after searching for places based on what I thought was wrong with my car. As a woman attempting to get quality, fair, auto service is always a trial. My steering wheel was shaking when I drove and I thought I needed an alignment. When I arrived ALL the workers including the inside guy was out by the bays smoking. None of them greeted me when I drove up and I had to ask if I should walk inside to get helped. I was told yes in ann offhanded way. No one was inside, which surprised me, and then a few moments later one guy from the pack decided to put his cigarette out and came inside to help me. After discussing, I was told I needed new front tires. When trying to get him to explain if I needed an alignment ($79) AND tires ($345) right now - he never really gave me a straight answer. My car was brought in and put up on the machine. When he came back he said I didn't need the alignment as much as I needed new tie rod ends (both/left and right). That came up to about $844.92 and new tires ($345) which including parts, tax, and labor was going to cost $1,329.76 I tried asking John how bad they were or how soon I needed to get things done. Like could I get the tires today and next week come back for the time ends. John never gave me a straight answer. He kept giving me a shit-eating silly grin/look. Kept saying he didn't want to charge me for an alignment when I didn't need one. Okay, but I'm asking totally different question now G! He kept attempting to make it sound like he was doing me a favor by not doing the alignment. He ended up giving me a print out with all this information and the hefty estimated total of $1,329.76. I left there feeling like I just dodged a scam. I used that document to call around and get quotes. I called several auto places and found 2 quotes considerably lower for the same work. I ended up getting the work I needed and new tires for $892.54. I was greeted as soon as I entered the establishment. I was treated with respect and all the questions I had were answered politely and thoroughly. This is where I'll be taking my business from now on. I write this review and give 1 star because of the treatment I received as a customer entering their establishment, the evasiveness of John to answer my questions, and the over charging for parts and services. $437 is a large difference for the same service. I called in at 11:03AM on Saturday 09/11/21 to confirm if they do alignments for Alfa Romeo's and was told they do. I asked if they do walk-ins and was told yes, but I would have to leave my car there for a few hours. I agreed. My vehicles alignment was pretty bad so driving there would already be alot.
