Approximately 10 years ago we were fortunate in that we found Greg's as an auto repair business approved by AAA. We called the Magnolia shop, spoke with Marc, and made appointments to have factory recommended maintenance performed on both of our vehicles. In the years prior to finding Greg's we serviced our vehicles at the appropriate dealerships. Time and again we were disappointed in the quality of the work and poor customer service. Examples: Our Mazda CX7 battery was consistently going dead. AAA came out each time and replaced the dead battery (no cost). Obviously there was something electrically haywire within the vehicle. When the battery failed again had AAA send a tech and we did not have another new battery installed. Instead the tech got the Mazda started. Went to the dealer. They said they ran all the diagnostics and came to the conclusion that the battery was defective. New battery installed and that one went dead. Dealer replaced battery a second time and that battery failed. That's when we discovered Greg's. They found that the battery was being drained by a single contact point in the 'CD-Radio-Cassette' unit' and per Mazda the entire unit had to be sent to Mazda (no dealership involvement). Mazda sent a replacement unit and, Voila!, problem permanently solved. Jump forward to 2020 and other vehicle (Lexus) presented the same problems as the Mazda. This dealer replaced the alternator at a very steep price. Battery fails as does the next one...and next one, etc. The final straw was the mechanic concluding that no electrical problem was found. Now get this: We were told to hook up the battery to a "trickle charger" at night and in the morning, start the car and let it run for 15-20 minutes. I do not know if there is any place where this would be acceptable. Took our problem to Marc at Greg's. They kept the car for two days to see if the problem could be replicated, and it was. Greg's mechanic checked every fuse, alternator, starter, etc. and all okay. But battery died again. Mechanic replaced the dead battery with a Interstate battery. Car sat for two days in the shop and the Interstate battery did the trick. Since then there has not been any problem. Car is mechanically excellent. And as always, the cost was more than fair. We have recommended Greg's to many people. Marc always called with updates; to discuss what was found; options for repair, etc. We have complete confidence in Greg's. When Marc calls to let us know what they found and with an estimate we accept without pause.; and that we are being treated with the utmost in customer service; repair skills; honesty; integrity; care; and pride in providing the best. The dealership was cheaper. I just had my car towed to the dealer. I went to Greg's Automotive thinking local and family owned, should be cheaper than the dealership. I WAS WRONG. They claim their hourly rate is less than the dealership but when the dealership can do the job faster, that makes the dealership cheaper and faster! read more

Do not bring your car to this place, they have incompetent mechanics. The business is completely unprofessional, lacks any accountability. They will say yes to anything just to get the business and then scrap their way out of the poor job they do on your car. Classic chop shop business. what a shame, we blame the state of California for not supporting small businesses, but the flip side is small business such as this one does not do respectable work. Not even ethical work, taking on a Mercedes without the expertise. They completely took advantage of my Dad, who is 74 years old. Our Mercedes came back in worse condition upon the return; they took months to do a simple job. Left us with an inoperable vehicle and Mercedes won't touch the car now because Greggs automotive is not a recognized Mercedes mechanic. False and misleading advertising. If you have a Mercedez do not bring it here to this place. What a disappointment to the community. read more

Finding a trustworthy mechanic is difficult finding one as a woman who knows very little about cars is even tougher. After receiving a quote of $875 for an oil leak diagnostic, I came to Greg's automotive for a second opinion. Gio and Justin were able to explain what the issues with my Jeep were in easy to understand language and actually repair not just diagnose several issues for nearly the same amount as the first shop's diagnostic quote. I've been coming here for a few years now and I've got to tell you, it feels great knowing that if I ever have issues with either of my vehicles, I have some guys who will not only take care of the issue, but I also don't have to worry about being ripped off. I came in around 2:30 to get an oil change and a brake fluid flush which had been recommended from the last service at the Honda dealer. That morning 4 warning indicator lights lit so I pulled into Greg's Automotive since I had been there before. About an hour and a half later, my car was ready. The brake fluid flush and oil change were cheaper than the dealers price of just the flush. They did not charge for the computer diagnostics, and advised me to check with the dealer if the lights went on again, and that that kind of work was probably covered by warranty. Went in seeing what Greg's could do for my 2005 Toyota Tacoma with well over 225,0000 miles poor gas mileage. When I bought the truck, I was getting about 18 MPG. When I went into the shop, I was getting about 13 MPG. Marc suggested a "fuel system service" to get some improvement but could not say how much. I had the service completed within a couple of hours. Leaving the shop, I noticed a quieter engine and better "pick up". A couple of days later I had to drive (5 hours) to Mesa AZ. Calculated my gas mileage again and got just over 18 MPG. The next weekend I drove to Riverside CA and back on 1 tank of gas and got just over 19 MPG. My 20 year old truck drives as good as when I bought it. I just wish it looked as good. read more

Recently I went to Firestone and was quoted a price over the phone, but once inside they price gouged me twice the amount. My daughter called and spoke to Mark at Gregs automotive, he gave a fare price for brake replacement. I brought my car today, the price for front and rear breaks was less than what was quoted for just front brakes at Firestone. He was friendly & honest of everything I needed. We have been customers of Greg's Automotive for many years and always had our 3 cars serviced there. They did great work and were very responsive and easy to deal with. Unfortunately, it looks like the business has been sold to a new proprietor. The last time I went in to get service, a gentleman that I did not recognize came to the counter. I stated that I needed some minor service on my car and I would drop it off. This person then angrily stated, "We can't do it today!" I was surprised and explained that I did not expect the job to be done that day and I simply wanted to drop it off so that the work could be done when they got to it. He then gruffly took my keys and I left. Today, I called Greg's to discuss another vehicle problem. I was put on hold for some time and was then advised by a robot voice that they would call me, apparently, when it was convenient for them. Clearly, the COVID 19 "no service" policy has arrived at Greg's. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I had the scary circumstance of my Sentra stop running in the fast lane on the 67 freeway. Luckily, I was able to cruise to the nearest exit, Bradley - and coast all the way to the sidewalk right in front of Greg's Automotive. It was quite the stroke of good luck for me to land there, as the crew that greeted me were very friendly and helpful. They made a stressful situation seem not so bad. They were able to diagnose, repair and have my car ready in less than a day. I was VERY impressed! Now we won't take our vehicles anywhere else. They always give clear, quick, fair answers and don't try to up-sell or push you into things you don't need. Having HONEST feedback and DECENT prices is a HUGE bonus to have stumbled upon! My brakes needed repair and I asked my dad to help me find a reliable place. He did some research and found Greg's Automotive because they had really good reviews. Dad said phone service was quick and helpful right away. Made the appointment and dropped off car. They called as soon as they checked out the car. Told me I only needed the front brakes and rotors which we kinda already figured. They were even able to get my wheel locks off without me having the key. They did not try to upsell anything just what we needed done. Very informative on break down of cost estimate. Even was willing to put a card on file to charge later so my dad could drive back home an hour away. I will definitely be coming back here for any future service/work on my car. read more

Came in for a Smog earlier in the year and wow, just overhearing the way he talked to his employees and customers was extremely off. I was glad to get my car back and leave as quickly as possible. The owner made me feel extremely uncomfortable when trying to conversate with me. He then tried to show off to the customers in the lobby by yelling at his techs and calling them names. He assured us this would get them moving but one tech came in visibly irritated with the way he was being spoken to and the owner threw a hissy fit and said something about not needing him for the shop and that he could quit if he wanted. Really not something to discuss in the lobby with several customers. I personally don't think ownership or management know how to conduct business in front of paying customers. I think belittling your employees doesn't make you look smart or professional. I also noticed on my smog receipt (which I can provide but will not post per my own privacy) that I was overcharged by $5. Not a big deal but pay attention to your receipts and quotes. *Greg states I have never been a customer - I have a processed payment receipt and invoice to prove it. THANKS!* read more

Was given a estimate from another mechanic that was $1500 for a leak in the rack and pinon box. Greg's found that the leak was from the cv axle shaft seal. They took the time to determine where the leak was coming from and fixed it correctly the first time. They saved me $1500 by not replacing something that did not need it. And having to have my car go back in the shop to get fixed a second. So they saved me time and money, which is the best type of mechanic you can ask for. In one month I took my car in 4 times to get checked because it was overheating and each time they said couldn't find anything wrong with it- But my car kept overeating.... weird but okay. I paid for this very problem to be solved and it wasn't solved. Where's my service? They finally found a problem once I broke a head gasket for the second time (no warranty?) Interesting because they couldn't find anything wrong with it literally ONE DAY PRIOR and "it should be running just fine" or so they said. Maybe it's because I'm a woman that they ripped me off? - I'm not sure. They paid for my rental car but only for two days which wasn't helpful considering they took over a week to fix my car... Mark is unprofessional in the sense he isn't willing to help or satisfy his customers!!!! Big waste of my time, energy and money! Very glad I went to these guys with a pre purchase inspection on a used car I was looking to buy. They found a possible transmission issue and even the idea of a bad transmission turned me away from the purchase. The car was already very over priced and they told me it's not worth it to buy at the price I was going to pay, especially if possible tranny problems. Was looking for a good deal in an oil change, charged me $35 less than the Jiffy Lube next door and they were able to take my car in on the spot. While they were changing the oil, they found that my car was leaking coolant but unsure where. They said they needed to find the leak but I couldn't get it done that day. I ended up finding the leak and fixing the part myself, however, I wouldn't have known where to start without their recommendation to repair the leak. Wow, how professional. You really proved me wrong...yeah right. I have since had a family friend (a retired mechanic with 40 years of experience) check out my car & he laughed; LAUGHED! He said there was no reason to up-sell for the high-end parts short of trying to "milk a naive young woman" out of her money. He told me to avoid this person because "he would sell you the Moon" if you would accept it! And let me re-state this: It was JUST for my front brakes!!! I went in to have a simple brake pad replacement on my front 2 brakes, & was repeatedly coerced into spending over $320 to fix 2 worn pads!?! Really?!? I have a1986 El Camino that didn't pass smog.....The carburetor was running to rich. I took it by several shops and I was told it was to old. One of the shops said to try Gregg's. I usually go to penske or Kearney mesa ford for my service but, when I needed service quick, they both said sorry, theres a week and a half wait right now and well need to keep your vehicle for a few days. I made an appointment to bring my car in and after a full day and a half of having it they still hadn't even looked at it. So I told them not to bother, that I would pick up my car and take it somewhere else since they obviously didn't have time even though they said they did. I picked it up after hours and my windshield had a crack all the way across it that was not there when I dropped it off. I called to talk to them about how this was possible and the "Service Advisor" Mark was extremely condescending and rude. Now I have to replace my windshield, because they won't even bother to call me back or consider that it could be their fault. Not at all happy with Gregs automotive. Charged over $1000 for parts that I found, by part number, for under $600. Retail! That was 4 weeks ago, now my daughter's car has broken down after oil "spurting" all over the place, but the mechanic can't find the source. An oil change was done with the previous service. Could it be that the filter wasn't tightened properly. Now they want $3600 for a new engine. On a Kia Spectra 2006 with 140,000 miles on it. There is now supposed a crack in the radiator, which caused overheating. I am out of the country for my father's funeral right now, so a little frustrated at not being able to be there in person to look at it myself.Greg, what calibre of mechanics do you have that can't trace the source of a massive oil leak???? read more

I have referred numerous friends here over the years. Marc (Serv Advisor) will do whatever he can to save you money, all the while making sure your really need the work and it's done right the first time!
