Fantastic experience. The country western theme is awesome, not common for this area. The ambience is great. The people are very nice, and service is very fast. The prices are way lower than everything else on the boardwalk, which is great! The food is incredible. Out of this world country barbecue. Great service. Great drinks & bourbon selection. I had a few Bourbon slushes made by our cool bartender. He even hit the button to skip a few bad country songs, upon request. The barstools are funny. Not too busy on a Sunday - and didn't order much. But what we had was very good. Had a decent pour of bourbon and a 'build it yourself sandwich.' Generally - not something I'd spend time reviewing - but i was very pleased with the simple turkey on a Kaiser roll with lettuce, pickles and mustard. Perfect amount of lettuce - pickles across the roll and perfect spread of mustard - end to end and not too thick or thin. Only country bar in Atlantic City and it's great! Always interesting characters here and great place to strike conversations with a stranger. They play mainly country music in the background along with their videos. This is not a sports bar, so only expect country music videos to be seen on their televisions. They sometimes feature live solo musical performances and comedy nights as well. See their website for upcoming events. Also, $5 tall boy PBRs are sold at all times. Management at firewaters should be fired. I am absolutely disgusted with my experience there. I was in AC for my sister's bachelorette party. We're country music fans, so we went to Firewaters for country music. They had a live band scheduled to play about an hour after we got there so we ordered our food and some drinks and hung out at a table. We paid for our stuff as we ordered so that the bartenders never had to worry about a large tab. The band was great. They're called Ostrich Hat, and they're genuinely fun and talented. Our party was parked right in front of the band. We were singing and dancing along and having a great time. And yes, we were drinking. At no point were we excessively loud, disrespectful, or "that group" that other people hate for being obnoxious. At some point, my sister whipped out her phone to take a selfie. One of her friends stood on the foot bar part of the barstool to get in the picture. The bouncer came up to us immediately and said we couldn't do that. The guilty party apologized and said she didn't know and that it wouldn't happen again. It didn't happen again, but the bouncer hovered over us waiting for us to commit any minor infraction. As the band wrapped up another great country cover, we all cheered and clapped. The bouncer told us we had to leave because we were being too loud. The band members disagreed. The bartenders disagreed too. We were polite and respectful and tipping generously. By this time in the evening, we had spent close to 400 dollars and were prepared to spend another 3 or 4 hundred before heading back to our hotel. Instead we were told to leave. Firewater was 80 percent empty, and they were kicking us out. My sister was crushed at having her bachelorette party evicted. I calmly told a manager how dissatisfied I was. He pulled up our transactions and said "you guys spent a lot of money" and I said we were prepared to spend more, but the mood was gone. We would have stayed if the manager had offered any sort of concession. A round of drinks on the house. Free fries. Anything to let us know that he valued our business. Instead he looked upset at the bouncer and apologized and told us to have a good night. The drinks were delicious and the food was standard bar food with a fun country twist, and had it not been for the dismal experience, I'd recommend it to people staying at the Tropicana or any local hotel. But management at Firewater wants your money on their terms, and that's not okay with me especially for a party. read more

This was our first visit to Firewaters. I got the grand cosmo and my husband got the bourbon flight. The flight was only $18! It was a great value with some higher end options like Angel's envy and courvoisier. They don't serve food but the drinks are pretty good and reasonably priced. read more

Went here on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy yet which was nice. Prices are shockingly affordable for a casino restaurant with most items $10 or under. Impressive beer selection with a good 40 or so to choose from. The real reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of a more accurate 3 is because we had exceptional service from our bartender Nancy. Sweet, down to earth, and helped prevent us from ordering more food than two people could ever eat outside of giving up on reasonable life choices. The pulled pork fry appetizer is enough to feed 3 people by itself. Smoky pork, crunchy fries and plenty of queso. This places rendition of a Cuban sandwich was just ok. I can imagine this place is a blast when its packed though. I would definitely go back. Excellent service, good prices, and large portions. Great place to carb up before day drinking. read more

Great Music, Great Bartenders, and Great decor! Came to the Tropicana and was looking for a great time on a Friday Night, and found this Gem located just off the boardwalk! Here some live music as we were walking by so I came in with a group of friends, pulled up to the bar in one of these fancy bar stools (including some horseback riding bar stools), and ordered some really cool craft beers I have never seen before that they had on tap. They had 69 Beers on TAP!!! I also noticed their Bourbon bar, so couldn't help myself from grabbing a round of bourbons for everyone. Had a few appetizers, and also ordered the Blazing Saddles Double Burger! It was huge, and very tasty. We thought we were headed to the Quarter, but ended up staying all night long as the musician was great and very entertaining on stage. He played a great variety of some current popular country songs, and even threw in some classic rock tunes we could sing along too! Don't forget to get your photo with Buddy Bear... a 10 foot selfie Bear,,, or at least looked like it was 10 feet or something. read more

It seems to be a country music bar, which is emphatically NOT my preferred music genre, but some of the honky-tonk music they were playing was pretty entertaining, but still would have preferred some rock and roll or alternative playing in the background. Firewaters has 50 beers on tap with a highly local presence. This has to be the biggest list in Atlantic City. Having a big list isn't enough; the list has quality and variety. Cape May, Ludlum, Glasstown, Ship Bottom and Pinelands Brewing are just a few of the local examples. There's also a decent representation of regional and national breweries. Pricing is market value for these brews, so definitely not inflated for being a casino bar. The service was so much better on my recent visit that I couldn't keep my original three star rating. This bar can be a hit or miss. I think the only reason why we always have a pleasant experience is because we go there alot, so the female bartender knows us pretty well. We never ate there but they have an amazing selection of beers & stouts. They also make one of the best chocolate martinis For the location the prices are not too bad. We only stopped in for the nice selection of local craft beers. There were about 60 brews on tap, most of them crafts and many local. Loved the selection! Having been to the spot out in Hackensack many, many times...this dark outpost beneath the Quarter at the Tropicana does not compare favourably. Little in the way of ambience (besides a few neon lights and a tv or two) and a virtual dead zone for socializing: this is where one goes to grab a craft beer at a decent price and move on out. The selection is good, though not as extensive as Hackensack's, and the $8 sampler (Three 4oz beers served on a paddle) is probably your best bet. Great selection does not always mean great brew: two of the beers in that sampler were pretty flat, as was my friend's pint of Yuengling. Drinks here are a bit cheaper than most other places you'll find at the Trop but not a place to linger. read more

Ahh, Firewaters. This place would be better off ON fire, but I assure you there wouldn't be enough water in the world to put it out. And what a shame considering all of the beer options they have on draft. First of all, the location is just weird. It's kind of in the mall, but not really. It's kind of near the casino, but not really. It's like it doesn't know where it wants to be so it just kind of plopped itself in the middle hoping to get customers en route to the mall/casino to stop in. Secondly, the place is filthy, but perhaps its biggest problem was the rudeness and slowness of the bartender. This guy either had a really bad hangover or a death in the family, because he clearly did not want to be there. I went here with a group of 6. The girls wanted martinis. The bartender said not until the next bartender came to replace him. He didn't know how to make the martinis they wanted. Then I asked for a beer they ran out of and he offered me no alternatives. When I chose my own replacement, the bartender told me that option was $10 and asked me if I was sure I still wanted it. I didn't go here dressed in rags so I'm not sure what he was implying. Bottom line: avoid this place, especially if that grumpy old bartender is working. The only saving grace for this bar is the number of beer options, even though they may be out of what you want to order. read more

Arrived at the Tropicana 4 hours before check-in Saturday morning. Firewater looked like a great place to hang out. It was located in a quieter part of the casino and wasn't overly busy. They had basketball on TV which was the selling point. Turned out it was a great place to unwind and get some affordable drinks. The bartender was awesome! I believe she was the manager, great personality and very easy to start a conversation with. She even gave us some free pepperoni and cheese to munch on. She had a young kid working with her as a barmaid and he was super cool. Really liked the atmosphere and service was on point. We caught a good buzz before we even checked in! 50 Beers on Tap! Okay, now that I have your attention, let's talk about this place. After having a couple of beers at a pub upstairs, I ventured downstairs and happened upon Firewaters, which is on the backside, boardwalk level of the Tropicana. I looked in, saw their 50 taps (see photo) and quickly grabbed a seat at the bar. After looking through the beer list, which also includes over 100 bottles, I decided on Merry Monks, which is a little pricey, but delicious. The place wasn't that busy, but it was a Sunday evening, so it's understandable. Service and atmopshere: okay. The next afternoon we came back and decided to order the sampler: 4 different beers for $8.00. We wrote down all our selections and had a fun time trying a lot of different drafts while watching some pre-season baseball. Came to the Tropicana for the weekend during some good NFL playoff games, so my wife and I were looking for a good spot to watch the games. With the Trop having so many bar selections we decided to visit Firewaters, which was a good decision. Eats/Drinks: - 3 sliders for $3, the sliders were bigger than your average size sliders. Good for the price - 50+ beers on tap and a big bottle selection, definitely beats your Corona and Bud selection. If your a craft beer fan like I am you can't go wrong with the selection. Likes: - Several TV's to watch your favorite sports event - Prices are good especially during happy hour - Huge beer selection with a 3 for $8 sampler, of course the glasses are smaller - Entrance is right off the boardwalk - Inexpensive especially for a hotel bar Dislikes: - Bartenders are just ok, could be more attentative Overall I enjoyed my time here. Came here on a Sunday to watch the football game with the hubbs. We were able to get a seat right by the TV and the speakers right behind us. Two stars for that. We were approached by the bartender: an early 20s blond girl who first gave me a look for ordering a water with lemon. Once finished, I had to get her attention from across the bar because she was too busy socializing for a refill. She came over only to ask, "When are you gonna start drinking?" with a smirk. I wasn't too pleased with that seeing that I get it that she wants a tip and all, but being blunt about it is just plain rude. We ordered some sliders for $3 bucks to snack on. She brought it over without ketchup/mustard/mayo and left to the other side of the bar to socialize again. My hubbs went to find our own condiments because I didn't feel like yelling to get her attention. Besides the two of us and the guys she flirted with, there was no one there. So, there was no excuse other than she just didn't care. Food was ok...at best... Firewaters always has had an extensive beer selection, but that's not what makes them stand out. They have had this beer selection WAY BEFORE IT WAS COOL. I would venture to say that at one time they had the most extensive beer selection in South Jersey. They still are competitive. The other reason, which still makes them stand out, is that they put the beer in the appropriate glass with the logo of the beer company on it. That is a tradition in Germany with their beer, and it is carried over to Firewaters. read more

We stopped in on a Thursday night for a couple of drinks. Website says they close at 10pm. By 8:30 the bartender was already cleaning up and putting bottles away despite customers still walking in. Not a great way to invite customers in for the remaining hour and a half. Maybe that's why this place is never busy. No ambiance at all, place was so dark I don't think there was a single light on. The woman manager is so nasty and should not have a job dealing with the public! A group of 6 of us went in for beers and a snack. I bought in a wrap and fruit. No where is it posted that outside food is not allowed in the establishment. She proceeds to yell at me from the bar about the food. The music was on and I couldn't understand her. She rolled her eyes, held up her hands and yelled some more! She said she could kick me out, I did her the favor and walked out. Very RUDE and NASTY!!!! I cannot stand this place. In between the past 3 years I have been here twice, maybe three times and every time I hate it more. The inside reminds me of a middle school cafeteria where you pay a $5 cover for a Saturday night. The music is top 40 for the most part but is geared toward rap club kids. The crowd seem like they let in people that were hanging out in the alleyway. Some of the crowd even huddle outside the entry line so you're bound to get some obnoxious drunken comments. The one good thing is that there is a deli nearby so if you want a quick bite to sober up or just munch it isn't a far walk. Also, this could be good if you're looking for a less crowded spot.
