I was also with a friend whose ID works perfectly fine everywhere else, and they still claimed it was only "partially scanning." Instead of handling the situation professionally, they acted accusatory and dismissive the entire time. I completely understand needing to verify IDs, but there's a respectful way to do it. Being talked to like I was doing something illegal over a legitimate state-issued ID was embarrassing and unnecessary. Definitely left a bad impression.
