Okay Firewheel is so nostalgic to me so I tend to frequent a lot. But there is so much potential here. I love the convenience of the AMC for movies, Gloria's, Wildwood and other food establishments, department stores for any occasion, and some small coffee shops. What I'd love to see more of, though, is a bit more kid-friendly options for those with little ones. We do enjoy the small green lawn near the fountain! But maybe some restaurants that have a centralized courtyard where kids can roam free. There's also some room for improvement to add less chainy spots and more local mom and pops to support. read more

Man, this place is HUGE! It feels like everything is here: stores, smaller shops, eateries, etc... the question is more like, "What is NOT here." I'm from nowhere anywhere near here, but my friend is. I told him there were a few last minute things I needed for a wedding I was to attend a couple of days away. There was no better place than this for whatever it was I was trying to find. Made a stop at Dillards: found stuff there. And I should have been done already, but also went to Macy's and found even more stuff there. The choices seemed endless, but with a tight schedule, I was really limited to where I can go and what to do. But at least I found what I needed. One can kill time just by being here. It could take a whole day and some to get to see everything. Kinda jealous we don't have something like this closer to home! This place was hopping for during the week - a Wednesday late morning! I was in the area and hadn't been to Firewheel Town Center in many years so I decided to stop in. I didn't really have a destination in mind so it was fun to just go where the urge took me! They do have signs where each store is listed in a separate arrow to try and help point you to where you're looking to go. Since I didn't know what I was looking for, I found it difficult to read the list of stores so fast and then make a turn in the correct direction. But the signs are classy looking, I'll give them that. I had to pull over into an empty parking spot and "Yelp" the store to follow the directions to get where I decided to go. This review is for the store "AUSTIN 5" located in this shopping center. The shopping center itself is wonderful. Super cheap & the clothes all look great.. quality is cheap & everything runs small. Im a medium - large fit and they don't have dressing rooms or refunds so I took a chance on a few things I found, the clothes are super stretchy & I figured I'd find SOMETHING to fit in a small - medium fit. NOPE. Wasted my money on clothes I could have ordered online for $3 Also, idk if they just try to hide the sizes or the clothes they order just don't come with the sizes on them, but I really couldn't see a size chart. If you're built like a stick figure, this place is for you :/ for me with a booty and hour glass figure.. it didn't quite cut it. Dear owner, you don't have to sell plus size clothes if you don't want too, there are stores that do, but women (even women in great shape) come in different sizes & the lengths you are going through to avoid catering to those women, is going to end your business. This town center is a nice outdoor shopping mall, yet not fancy, that follows the Main Street concept. What surprises me is that I have never seen an Main Street type of outdoor mall like this one in which 100% of the stores are all the VERY SAME typical stores AND restaurants you would find in an average indoor mall. Usually I would find a mix of mom and pop establishments and some unique restaurants in other outdoor malls. But because there's a lack of good shopping in Garland, this is a nice addition and I can see it being a good place to just hang out and shop if you're in this part of town. read more

Nice place to shop in the Garland area (who knew!) Excellent variety of mid level retail shops. The outdoor atmosphere doesn't make it feel like a "mall". Wish there were more places to pick up a snack...not a full meal but just a snack. Love the little train that drives around the central park area! This is a great outdoor mall to go to if you're needing to do some shopping, dining, or go to a movie. They've got everything here from a Dick's Sporting Goods, AMC Movie Theatre, an ample assortment of great restaurants, and lots of name brand stores to shop including Old Navy, Macy's, Dillard's, James Avery, and many, many others. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but it's still worth the trip if you're looking for something different from your everyday indoor mall shopping experience. read more

This is one of my favorite malls. It's a outside walking mall. It's different but neat. When it's cold or raining it isn't the best, but they have lots of different stores here. It does get very packed too! Parking is not the best, kinda lack of it. They always do festival stuff here too. Fireworks, Christmas Tree and decorate it nicely too with lights and all. The real estate management company that services the house that I rent recently moved to an office here at Firewheel. I drove up and down the main drag of the center twice before I found the unmarked door to the mall offices. The office building looked nice enough. Two things to note: 1) I love the easy access to a mall especially where I live. So easy to shop and convinent for my needs. Make up, shoes, home needs etc. 2) Any time after 6 pm Thursday -Sunday it's bad with teenagers hanging out and most of them are trouble. Makes me uncomfortable to shop in the evening. A curfew is muchly needed for the kids. It is out of control. read more

I like taking my kids here. It's a little drive from where I live but worth it to get out in the sunshine. My sons LOVE the train towards the back of the main drag. Plus, the variety of shops and proximity to a friend of mine, makes it perfect for outings with my kids. At the fountain there is a train that you can ride with your kids for cheap. I love the restaurants here too. Houlihans is wonderful here! But also has other chain casual restaurants. It's huge. So walking around is good exercise. Just have to remember where you park if it's in one the parking areas behind the shops. Parking at the movie theater and then walking around is good. Or I try to park at the fountain. read more

This is a very nice mall. It has the open/outlet concept. There are plenty of stores and restaurants for a variety of ages. It has ample parking and the layout is pedestrian friendly. There are tons of places to sit with a lot of seats that have cover for shade on hot Texas days. There is a beautiful water fountain in the center. I will defiantly be back. read more

This is a nice outdoor mall. It has a lot of popular stores including Macy's, Dillard's, Barnes and Noble, DSW, Bath and Body Works, etc. If you go in colder weather just make sure to bundle up. I love just strolling through and sitting at a corner restaurant people watching. Some of the best shops are here and some really great restaurants. This is a good outdoor mall. The layout is pretty nice considering the area. It's gets too hot during summer time so the best time to come is during fall or spring. The selection of stores is your typical mall selection such as sunglass hut, torrid, hot topic, Victorias secret, etc. There's not really "luxury" brands so it's mostly affordable . As nice as it seems, I rather go to other malls or even the outlet to shop for apparel. It doesn't seem to have everything I want so I wouldn't go there again. Also, it's kinda faraway from other malls so it's not exactly the route I take when I go shopping. I know if it was near, then it would defeat the purpose but still. Convenience is important! I'm not sure how the AMC theater fare as well. This was only my 2nd visit in years. As for a better shopping experience, go to Northpark, stonebriar, or galleria for your run of the mill stores and ALLEN outlet for your more "luxury" brands. This is a great mall - but beware of Fragancia. Do not buy perfume from Fragancia. The "testers" are authentic but the sealed product you purchase is an imposter. I bought two different fragrances from them at a "discounted rate." I took both fragrances to two different major department stores after noticing a an obvious difference in what I "tested" and what I purchased. Both major department stores confirmed that both were imposter fragrances. The difference was obvious. And, Fragancia has a no refund policy...imagine that! read more

I've only been here a handful of times while in the area, and I enjoy visiting. For me, it'd be a waste of time to make a special trip out here because they have stores that you can find in any mall. But when the weather is nice, it's fun to walk around and shop. The weather really does dictate whether you are going to have a good experience here or not.. at least I would think so. I've made sure to always go on good weather days and it's been great. They have some great dining options scattered around the place. It's easy to get to from the George Bush turnpike. Firewheel is an excellent example of the future of retail centers in the DFW area and likely the entire U.S. This shopping center is a tribute to the traditional Main Street shopping areas of small town America, big city downtown shopping and British 'high streets.' It is designed to feel more urban than it actually is. This by nature is fake but Firewheel is very good at faking it. First of all, the buildings are attractive, the exteriors and park area are well landscaped, parking is abundant but the design does limit the intrusion that cars have on your 'urban' experience somewhat. The big box stores are located in outer lying areas where parking lots prevail, but after leaving your car behind n one of these areas, you walk into the interior area of the shopping center and one only catches a cursory glance of big parking lots at intersections. There are some parking places directly in front of the interior area shops and entrances but they are limited. The big store is where one likely parks all have doors facing the big parking lots as well as facing the shopping promenade. Walking through one of the big stores is the best to get to the interior. Park at the big place you want to go and by then explore or explore and then by. The park and kids play area is a nice touch to give the place somewhat of feeling of being a community meeting place and not just a redone mall and does add some charm to the area. There are tables and a fountain with some shed like retailers right in the park area. Overall the whole of Firewheel looks great and offers movies, dining and plentiful shopping. Such good stores as Barnes and Noble and World Market are likely reasons for you to go while the smaller stores in the interior area invite you to explore. There is only one problem with Firewheel and it is big enough to keep this beautifully done development from getting 5 stars. The stores themselves are largely the same generic American chain stores you get everywhere as there seems to be little or no truly independent or unique retailers here. The restaurants available are often the better chain establishments, some of which are local chains but still there are no independent eateries here. I find this all very sad as the look is so right but the substance is lacking when compared to an actual urban shopping experience. I'm not one for malls period but if you have things you need to buy from these types of stores, there are a few shopping centers that create an environment as well as Firewheel does. read more

The set up of the mall is a very cute concept however its a shame that none of the stores are full scale. The Dillards, Macy's and Old Navy are especially small compared to other locations in the metroplex which is very frustrating when you live here and don't want to drive to NorthPark or Stonebriar mall. Also, I would love to have a Nordstrom rack and also a Gap would be great. Another thing I think that would make this more appealing would be to enhance some nightlife there and have a pub or a bar or two over by the houlihans. read more
