When I was thinking about going solar, I spoke to dozens of companies to get the best quotes and asked lots of questions. Many companies wouldn't even give me a quote because my roof has Spanish Tiles and they didn't want to know about the project. Other companies were telling me that I would have to remove all the tiles beneath the solar panels and get a roofer involved to do this work. This was going to add $6-7k to the work. Tony and Charlie recommended a different method of fastening, which would not require expensive re-roofing. Tony looked after all the permitting and the applications with my electrical utility and communicated with me on every step. When they first came out to review the install, they were fully wearing masks and respected social distancing. He also was honest and didn't try to upsell me on a new electrical panel, where again other companies told me I would need. The whole installation only took 2 days. During the install the crew were clean/tidy and efficient. They also let me know when there was going to be noise which I appreciated as I am working from home and also have small kids. They also replaced about 40 tiles on my roof that were damaged by a previous satellite dish installer at no cost to me. We first got the idea to get solar on my house after doing the math. We saw the thousands we paid for electricity over the past couple of years so we looked for alternatives. It didn't make sense to why we should keep paying a company when I could own the solar system myself. The prices are at an all-time low for solar, there is a 30% federal tax credit and we wanted to get grandfathered into the net metering program before it ends. After reading one of the articles on Google by First American Solar, I wrote them an email and we got a quote. We knew our project would be in good hands after meeting with our consultant Tony. I was recommended to First American Solar by a relative of mine who also had solar installed on their home with them. They were very easy-going, friendly and quick to help us know the "in's-and-out's" of solar. I was presented with a program that I've only seen from them out of the other companies we called. My 2017 new year resolution was simple. Go green! Never thought it would be this simple. We've all been to home depot and walked by the awkwardly placed foldable plastic green table with the solar city logo printed on it right in front of the item your there to buy. There's always two young high school drop outs sitting there, like they're selling girl scout cookies with their green tight shirts washed so many times they look more yellow then green. You want to avoid having them talk you into a coma so you ask a real home depot employee to show you the item you already clearly see, just to make yourself look more preoccupied so they don't want to speak to you. After he or she shows you where the item is located you promptly proceed to ask them to hold on because your about to ask them to show you another item which you clearly know is on a much further area of the store, away from these blood hounds disguised as high school teenager trying to make a pay check to pay for their first car. Long story short found out about First American Solar from my neighbor who also hired them for his Solar Panels. He is older, so consider this a review for the both of us! Tony came down and 5 mins in I was sold. No issues at all, system is running great, and most importantly I was able to avoid the angry evil Green Lanters yet again. This is the second time we have experience getting solar installed on our roof. The company that installed on our old house took almost 4 months to complete the process, communication was bad and it was generally a big headache. We moved into our new house almost a year ago and solar was a part of our plans, however, we were definitely not going to make the same mistake. We bought our 1st house over a year ago, and like many others, got a bit shocked when we saw our first electric bill. I consider us to be pretty efficient with our electricity but since this is a larger house with heated tiles and a pool, our electricity bill was huge. We looked at solar because we'd see many advertisements about it lowering electric bills. The first place we looked into was Solar City who advertises everywhere, even the local Home Depot. So I called them, received a quote and it seemed pretty sweet until I did some research. Sure it would not cost anything to get them installed, but I would only be saving about $10 per month while paying them use my roof to generate power. This wouldn't be much of a benefit to me. I started to look into several companies and I came across First American Solar again. I received their flyers a few times and have seen several houses in the area going solar with them so I called them. They were quick to respond to me and were very courteous throughout the install. I wasn't prepared to pay cash up-front so they gave me an offer that was a no-brainer. I DID NOT pay anything upfront, and I won't have payments until the end of the year. Keep in mind, I do not have an electric bill either, so in the first year alone we avoided paying almost $2,900 to the utility company. They also gave me cash back that helped me pay for solar for the following year so I pretty much got free electricity and avoided making electricity payments for the first 2 years. After this period is done, I'll be saving over 30% total compared to if I didn't get my own solar system. I had an excellent experience with Tony and Joseph from First American Solar. I have a small-to-medium sized house in L.A. with a shingle roof. The roof has many different pitches -- in other words, it doesn't have one large place to put a bunch of panels -- and I wanted to put panels on both the house and the garage, which required some trenching between the two. Tony and Joseph worked patiently with me to develop a plan, and we now have 25 panels on the roof producing a lot of power. I researched numerous solar companies on the web and yelp before deciding whom to hire, and I ultimately met with representatives of four different companies in the L.A. area to get their proposals. After competitive bidding among them, First American offered me the best deal and also had the people (especially Tony) that I felt would quickly respond to my calls/emails/texts and get me the results I wanted. First American was not the largest company I spoke with, but I was also comfortable they would meet their guarantees (and, in my opinion, the most important guarantees are the panel warranties from the panel companies). Once I signed with them, Tony and Joseph absolutely delivered on what I wanted. They were highly responsive; they worked quickly; they handled everything with LADWP; and they were always pleasant to work with. In addition, I found them to be honest and straightforward. In retrospect, they could have up-sold me to a bigger electric panel to handle the new power, which could have cost an additional $800 to $2,400, but they checked out my existing panel and concluded it wasn't necessary, even after I had approved them to do the upgrade. I recommend them without reservations and am very happy with my solar panels. I also recommend going solar -- it's fun to see the power we're generating on the iPhone app and to know that we're saving money and doing something good for the planet. read more

I did my research on this company and decided to give them a call to get more information and ended up getting one of the lowest bids in terms of pricing and the ability to get the job done quickly. Their people were friendly and dependable. They showed up on time and did all the work from A to Z without any problems. Before we signed the agreement, we went over the numbers with them, and they ensured me that there would not be any additional fees involved and if so they will take care of it. They kept their promise. I didn't have to pay any additional fees. This experience was something new to me. I wish my other contractors I hired for my home improvement had the same principles as First American Solar.
