I don't even know where to start but all I know is I won't be going back. If I didn't have a family member who was a doctor/know a little about healthcare my self I wouldn't have gotten out of here with the information I needed. When I requested for certain tests, the tech (not the doctor) gave push back stating I didn't need them when last I checked that wasn't her decision to make. She was also not pleasant and I could tell by the way she was training the other tech that was with her. The patient experience was awful and the rooms did not seem clean either. The only person who knew what they were doing seemed to be the PA who saw me and even then I had my cousin on the phone who's an MD just to make sure. read more

Cut my finger, wouldn't stop bleeding after one hour. I come here. It's not busy. Wait 15 minutes before I come to a room. They give me gauze to apply pressure. Then leave me for 1.5 hrs and noone comes back to say "Hey, cut is not too serious, dr is behind. Its not until I complain that the dr says condescendingly, "oh you're not bleeding too bad" if that's the case then have the nurse wrap it and I can go but NO...she has to see me so she can bill her service to my Insurance. Made a mistake of giving this place another chance, this time with my 6-year old. Don't come here. There's one just as close off of Sanner Road or right off of Burtonsville that's bigger, cleaner, kinder, and much quicker. If you still decide to come to this one, tell them you'll pay the co-pay after the service, so you are free to leave when the wait gets ridiculous. I asked how long the wait would be to one of the ladies who was nice then the medical person comes and asks what the problem is and condescendingly tells you if there are five people in front of us and each person takes 15 minutes then it will be an hour wait. Had to find an urgent care to get a family member's foot checked out. This was the third one that we had come to. We were quickly signed in and it was not too crowded. It was obvious that there were lots of people waiting in their cars to get COVID tested. The website said the wait was 10 minutes, and my family member was called back after about waiting 30 minutes. All in all we were out of there in about 90 minutes. Only downside of the visit was the grumpy people in the waiting area. Staff were pleasant and overall medical staff were polite and helpful. I did have to rewrap my family member's foot when we got home because the ace bandage literally fell off since it was so loosely wrapped. We'll see how the billing goes, but so far, our visit was decent. read more

I had the unfortunate luck of being exposed to someone who tested post for Covid at work so I had to come in here to be tested myself. They are one of the few places in the area that offer the rapid test and talk walk-ins. With the current Covid surge most places I called had a week wait time to get an appoint. I arrived on a Friday morning and there was a long line off people waiting to get in. The parking lot was small and shred with a coupe of other businesses. The pre check process went quickly though after that they told me the wait time could be up to 4 hours. All the pre check I completed online.That was a little shocking but not totally unexpected with Covid numbers rising so sharply. They told me o cooks leave and come back when they called me in. I chose to wait in the lot. I was called back within 45 min or so. Once inside I filled out a little additional paperwork abs was seen after about 15 min. The sample only took about 30 seconds and a few more minutes to take my vitals. After I checked out they told me to wait in the lot and they would call me shortly with the results of the rapid test within 30 min. I missed the call that came after 20 or so min. There was no caller id and my phone automatically send those calls to voicemail. If your phone is set up that way I recommend you disable it temporarily so you won't miss the call. When I called back I was on hold for a few min in order to speak to the nurse. I am glad my test came back negative. The nurse told me the sample would go for a more thorough test and told results would be available in 3-5 days. This one my second test this winter and it went more smoothly that the first. I was pleased with this experience but hope it's not needed again any time soon. read more

Let it be known the front desk staff, doctor, and medical assistant were so kind and caring. My issue is with the Director of Acute Care Operations, Terri O'Melia. She was loudly and openly yelling about my medical care and shaming me for the decisions I chose to make in front of medical staff and other patients. If she wanted to know why I chose to make decisions the way I did, I would have appreciated if she came and talked to me directly rather than yelling about it to the entire office so loudly that I could hear her. She thought it was wild that I had gone to a specialist before walking in to an urgent care. I wanted to make sure it wasn't a more pressing specific matter with a specialist before going into an urgent care for more broad issues. She should not be working in the medical field. read more

I think she said as of 9pm and it was 8:56. She told me to come back tomorrow. Nope. She won't see me. I told her it would be nice to update the website. She said "I have been telling them that. Due to the surge, we are stopping earlier". Thanks for the waste of my time and gas and energy. UPDATE: hUsband went this morning only to be told no more walkins accepted. Spoke to a man there who said he wasn't transferring me to a voicemail but a manager instead and what did I get? A voicemail. This place is the worst! Don't even waste your time. The website says no appointments required for Covid testing. Waited in line for 90 minutes to receive an appt for 1:45pm same day. Arrived ahead of my appointment time and waited 2 more hours for my text to check in. Then another hour in the waiting room. Ten more minutes waiting for a tech to test, now waiting for a doctor for whatever. Almost 10 hours start to finish. Not actually finished though. They are treating routine testing as an urgent care visit. Probably so they can charge insurance more. I'll have to be more diligent in scheduling appointments at better providers. read more

I came to get a Covid-19 test and they had me wait about 30 min to even get the test, and then on top of that, they had me wait ANOTHER 30 min to see a doctor, after I told them I don't need to see a doctor at all as I was just getting a Covid test for travel (back when that was necessary) and had no symptoms. So no reason to see a doctor. And the nurse was rude, when I asked her about it very nicely. I should have read the reviews. Healthcare fraud is an understatement at this place. Not only is their wait time on their website inaccurate, their doctors are not the greatest at determining care. My son hurt his ankle. As the doctor poked, twisted and flexed his foot, there was no pain. Doctor didn't see swelling, but doctor still ordered xrays, crutches and walking boot. We aren't doctors so we paid for everything. Later that evening, my son was running around with no issues. I called to complain and they hung up. I called my insurance company and they told me to file a report, which I am. A very expensive lesson. read more

They do not advertise that, but it was really weird when they were starting to take our heights and weights. You will be billed for more than just a test! Especially for a health-related service location, it's essential for folks here to learn how to better communicate to patients about expectations of process. If things are expected to take a long time, even a hint of that direction is important for us to make the right choice if we need to go elsewhere. My family and I (wife, 5 year old, and 2 year old) came at 8am to get in line for a COVID test as we were just informed the night before of direct exposure at school. We waited in the cold, got in and registered, and were directed to wait for a text message to come in and get tested. I asked how long it may take, and I got the generic answer of "Not sure. There could be other urgent cases coming in today." So we got in the car and waited. With young kids in the car, we waited and waited. Everyone is hungry, needing to use the restroom, and restless. Without direction, we weren't sure if we had time for a quick breakfast, bathroom break, etc. THREE hours later, my wife goes in to check and see if we were accidentally missed and if we had a better idea of ETA. The receptionist tells her rudely that "COVID testing isn't the only thing we do" and dismissed her. TWO hours after that, I give the number a call, only to be passed to voicemail (kinda scary for folks to not be able to get through on the phone to urgent care). So we are now SIX hours in since we got to urgent care, still waiting for any clue as to what to expect, and the place closes in three hours. COVID testing isn't a recreational thing we're just looking to do for fun. It's important that we are able to provide the right insights to folks that mean so much to us. If this location doesn't see COVID testing as essential, they shouldn't be offering it in the first place. We have now wasted a whole day, leaving folks we had direct contact with in schools and otherwise with an additional day of potential expanded exposure. We will try to go to the Quality First in Clarksville tomorrow - we've had MUCH better experiences there. Drive by for Covid testing, waited too long to be lined up, and waited 30 minutes with only 3 cars present. Then refused to help an 79 year old woman who had insurance but no photo I'd? WTH? She had multiple I'd.s but not a photo I'd. She never driven in her life she's from w.v. And never had a photo I'd, so she's a dinosaur but really FirstCall? Why not forget the triage, except the paperwork, and give her the damn test free.....? You got it free the federal government anyway! They are misleading by telling everyone that have a drive through. If you don't have insurance it will cost $175 (price gouging at a minimum) because they say that covers the triage. So I asked what is the triage? BP, listen to your heart, take your temperature, and 2 pieces of paperwork (I) had to complete. Americans have enough trouble obtaining reasonable medical insurance, do you think charging our insurance companies lets just say $100, this is a great example of corporate business gouging. He complained about being at work. The doctor looked at my throat and hit my teeth with the tool because he apparently doesn't know how to use medical equipment. Doctor was in the room for maybe 2 minutes and didn't address half of what I was there for. He asked if i liked ZPac and winked at me that he would prescribe it. Having worked professionally in systematic healthcare fraud detection, I know it when I see it. My partner and I asked for PCR covid tests required for travel, letting them know we were temporarily uninsured and hoping these tests could be covered by the CARES Act. They said this was no problem and that the government would pay for it, then had us wait 3 hours, then took our vital signs, and then performed a rapid test on each of us in addition to the PCR tests we requested. When we asked to clarify that this was all going to be covered, they told us that the government should pay but if they didn't they would send a $600 bill for each of us. After pressing, the staff revealed that the government "has been paying them lately" especially if we are symptomatic, which they said we appeared to be. We did not appear to be symptomatic -- we are perfectly healthy. I believe the unbelievably long wait times other reviewers are mentioning are due to the business spending all their time performing medically unnecessary tests and falsifying patient medical records, such as they did with us, in order to over-bill your insurance or the applicable government program. Overall, a highly unethical business that is concerned FAR more with the bottom line than with providing quality care. If they couldn't get us a covid test without wasting our time trying to make it look like a doctors visit, you can always tell us that and send us elsewhere. read more

I had an emergency stomach issue. I needed to see a doctor on Sunday early morning. But we did not want to go to the emergency room. The staff open the door at about 10 minutes before 8 AM and took our case. The doctor was prompt and he made very good diagnoses. Three days later, they followed up with a phone call to make sure. I visited this place to get a COVID rapid test due to being exposed at work. I luckily tested negative. The experience was quick and painless and the doctor he was great. Less than a week later I needed to return to be tested again with my 7year old due to us having symptoms. We again had a quick visit with the same great doctor. He was funny and caring. Unfortunately our test came back positive this time. A nurse entered the room told us a few tips on how to take care of ourselves and said get some rest and drink lots of fluids. 7 days into my diagnosis I had pretty bad chest pains. I called this location and spoke with a young lady who advised me I could come in to be checked out. She did not say I needed an appt or that they wouldn't be able to chest xray me. After driving from silver spring to Fulton to see if they could make sure I didn't have pnuemonia, I enter the facility and was greeted by a very rude woman. With me already not feeling well and dragging me and my 7 year old out and then having her attitude to deal with I wasn't very happy. She proceeded to tell me they will not chest xray me and I still need to be home quarantining. I looked at this woman and let her know I called before coming and was advised to come in. She looked at me like I was dumb and told me they couldn't see me. After getting upset she then offered me to make a appt. Like I wanted to come back out with how bad I was feeling. I ended up getting very upset with her attitude I walked out and went to the hospital to ensure I did not have pnuemonia. I had no one to take my 7 year old so I had to call the hospital and let them know I would have to bring him with me. Needless to say I now have a hospital bill because they refused to see me. 12 days after being diagnosed me and my son were feeling better. I called again since I was not told when we could retest or how long we should wait. I figured two weeks was typical since i am a manager and I've had employees out due to the virus. I was told we shouldn't be retested until Feb 5th. Well that is three weeks not two from when we were diagnosed. I then asked this woman why we would have to wait three weeks when I need to return to work but need a negative result. She then stated I could come in earlier but there may be a chance Ill still test positive. I drive back to the location with my 7year old again, to once again be turned away. I was told they do not retest at this center and I'd have to go to Merri weather in Columbia which is even further from my home in Silver Spring. I was frustrated and let them know I called and was told to come back here. I didn't even get a apology from the staff from my inconvenience. Luckily I used google and found a testing site 6 minutes down the street at another clinic who also offered rapid testing and I will have my results shortly. The communication and empathy from the women they have working in the front and on the phones is ridiculous. They need training on how to deal with people and training on correct information so the entire staff is on the same page and patients are not wasting their gas and time driving there to not be seen. I was so happy with this place at first and was praising it until my two bad experiences. Which ultimately will cause me to never come back to this place. I hope my review gives clarity to those who test positive and may be sick and need medical advice. Because they clearly won't give you the correct information. However Quality urgent care does testing on site and does not hassle you. I literally was in and out in 5minutes which was even quicker than First call urgent care. Very disappointed with the care at First Call at Maple Lawn. The PA didn't diagnose the injury, but ordered an on-site x-ray $$$. First Call only contacts you if the x-ray results show something. went in at 11:36 to be seen. they handed me a tablet to sign in which took about 5 minutes and gave it to the receptionlist and gave her my DL and medical card. took her about 20 minutes to check me in and get fees collected. after that they did take me back to a room so I could be seen by a doctor. Waited for about an hour and a nurse assistant finally came in and took my vitals. Then waited another hour for the doctor to come in. She told me 3 times that she sent over the scripts to my pharmacy. When I got off work I went to the pharmacy to pick the script up and they didn't have the script in their system. I wanted to edit my first post..... after 3 hours and 6 min I walked in at told a woman behind the desk that she could take me of list. Lo and behold she said "ok, I'm sorry" At least there was one in the group. I am sure everyone is tired in this place. I'm sure they have to deal with bad attitudes all the time and it wears on them. I have been here 5 times in the last two years for pre-operative Covid tests and for a post surgical infection. Each time the bedside manner of the people at the front desk has been horrible. I called at 3:45pm and was told they were closed. When I questioned how could they be closed I was then asked "What is the problem?" I said I need Covid test. The person answering the phone said if you have symptoms you can walk in to Maplelawn. 15 minutes later I arrived and there was a sign on the door dated the 4th saying they are no longer doing Covid testing today. I walked inside and after the woman just looked at me without treating I said I saw the sign and if that was correct that there was no more testing for today THE 5TH. I was asked my symptoms. She said they were no longer testing. I said then what when I called 15 minutes ago they said you were. With a heavy sign she said "We can test you but it will be late into the night" I looked at her and said "Really? Late into the night?" Well I need to be tested because I had been exposed. She sent me a text and gave me a form and said bring it back with the second text. 2 hours and 37 min later after seeing two people who came over an hour after me were seen I walked in and ask how they could be seen yet I have not. When I gave them my name one woman said you are the last on the list. Another woman said "What's your number on your paper" I said I don't have a number. She said the woman who had only waited an hour was number 80. The first woman said "you just gonna have to continue to wait, I don't now anything about that. In all this time I have not had one word of "sorry" or anything close to a comforting word. I've I was a conspiracy theorist I would swear the first women who said "late into the night" is making sure of that. read more

They're clearly overwhelmed and - maybe more important - VERY poorly organized. I went there because my primary told me to go there for a COVID 19 test. There were three people ahead of me - no one in the waiting room. After a quite reasonably long wait outside in a socially distancing line, the first two people who take your ID, insurance, and temp were efficient, pleasant, and knew what they were doing. Same with the NP who came in after about ten minutes and told me what would be happening - she was clear, polite, efficient. Then I sat alone in a windowless exam room for about another 50 minutes before I stuck my head out and politely asked if they had any idea how much longer it would be. "We're very busy," was my first answer. "Yes, I understand. But if it's going to be a while more - I've been her more than an hour and I need to leave soon ... or I might be able to make a couple calls and ..." "We're very busy here, sir, and everyone has been waiting at least 40 minutes and there are people ahead of you and ..." "OK ... so, do you have an idea how long before someone will see me?" "Well, I'm the person who will be seeing you ... and I have ..." "Ma'am ... I just need to know if you can estimate about how long it might be." She finally said "just give me 5 minutes and I'll be with you." "That's great ...and how long after that?" "It'll only be a few minutes after that. "Great, thanks, I'll let them know I'll be a little late ..." She walked. TWENTY FIVE minutes later, I had to leave. As I left, I said "sorry it didn't work out" and she said "well, do you want me to take you off the board?" I told her I didn't know what "the board" is, but that I had to leave. As I turned to go, she again started rapid-fire speech-making about how busy they were. I finally just said "I get it ... you're overwhelmed. I have to go. Thank you." She rolled her eyes and shook her head as if I'd done something to her. Never again. If you need a COVID 19 test - or, really, anything - go elsewhere. Anywhere. read more

Went in for a test that I've always had done in the office, gotten my prescription, and left (at various practices). For some reason, my labs had to be sent out (I was thinking it was because it was Saturday, but later asked a nurse and she said it depends on the doctor), and was told I'd have to wait 3-5 days and this was after a very unpleasant visit. I get an email in the morning 5 days later that my lab results were in (and I was correct about my issue), but no one followed up. I call in the early afternoon and am told a message would be sent to the doctor and I should hear back by close. I knew the office closed at 8pm, but I also wanted to get my meds before the pharmacy closed, so I called back around 7:20pm. The same receptionist answered and said she had passed on my message twice and was embarrassed the doctor still hadnt spoken with me. She gets me on the phone with the medical assistant who goes over my results and has the script sent in. Now 4 days AFTER THAT, I just got a call from someone who went over the same results and said she could send in the same prescription I have been taking. So if I didn't call in myself, I would've waited NINE days for something that I've always gotten taken care of the same day by other practices. And could she not see in my file that I had already gotten my meds?? Horrible experience. Never again. read more

would love to tell you anything good about this place but I can't. Even tho I've been to location before they somehow had none of my info. I had to fill it out by paper and by text for contactless. Then I waited 20 mins even tho I was only one waiting they took someone who came in after me first. Then they took me to exam room asked me all question I had just filled out twice again as if I didn't hav covid and sorest throat there over an hour at this point and somehow to be asked about prior meds they said somehow they didn't hav from prior visit (magic morons). Finally tested Again they don't believe the home test wait for that result then doc comes in asks what I came in for...like DuH MF Covid-19 and she was like to just confirm it and I was like no to get medicine and she tried to talk me out of it like "its not magic pills" after longer discussion she "prescribes" 2 otc meds and oral covid medicine. When I arrive to pharmacy only thing there is the "OTC prescription" they hav NO RECORD of anything else sent. Try calling them get put on hold 10 mins hang up try again get put on hold again over 7 mins finally annoyed sounding person said ma'am I had to put you on hold people are here. Never mind there were 5 front staff people there when I left no one can answer the phone?? She said waiting for provider to get permission to "resend it" I was like it never got here only Flonase which I which I can get anytime. I have had such horrible experiences with this practice! This place is so unprofessional. The first time I came here was after I saw the antibody testing advertised in an article for the DMV region. I work in a hospital and suspected I already had Covid but just wanted to see for sure by getting the antibody test. The article that I read mentioned nothing of needing to be symptomatic in order to have the test. I arrived and was able to get processed fairly quickly but waited in the exam room for about 45 minutes. I couldn't believe how long it was taking to wait to have the test done. I thought my family might get worried about me since I hadn't made it home from work yet. After waiting all that time the doctor finally came in and told me that since I wasn't having symptoms I couldn't have the test done. She said even though I worked in healthcare, they couldn't do the antibody test on me. I left without having the test done. A few days ago, I came down with some type of cold or flu. I took off from work but wanted to have a test done to see if I could figure out what I'm sick with. Again I came to this practice to see if I could have some type of test done. The website said they were open until 10 PM. The parking lot looked fairly empty and I couldn't see any patients in the office. There are many windows outside so it's easy to see how many people are in the business. I came to the door at 9:15 PM and someone came to the door to tell me that they are no longer taking any new patients. I've heard of business is locking up before closing time, but after making the drive out here and finding out that they're closing 45 minutes early, that's ridiculous! I think people are just desperate to get Covid testing. It's really unfortunate that this business claims to do this testing but is run so poorly. I wish I had read the reviews before coming here. The staff at this Laurel location are very rude and lack a level of professionalism. After waiting for almost two hours, one front desk staff responded as if it was a problem for me to ask how many individuals were in front of me. I was told urgent care patient me are seen before those getting tested for COVID. At the final registration check-in, I was told I had to change out my cloth mask (multi-layered) to a thin medical mask in order to talk to them. It wasn't mentioned when I first came in or when I asked about my status about an hour earlier. It's also not posted anywhere that a medical or N95 mask is required. I'm all for following rules, but what you do for one you should do for all. One lady behind the desk was talking to me with her arms folded, leaned to the side of her chair, with a nasty attitude. She asked me to take a seat after my registration was reviewed with them (I was already sitting inside) to wait for me to be called, but made a point to notify me that I had a few people in front of me. I asked if they could text or call me so I can go to my car to make a call and she shrugged her shoulders and said we would try but can't guarantee it. All I wanted to do was check in on my family at home and return a missed call. I didn't think it was going to be hours of waiting at a different first call location or I would've planned better. If it wasn't for the Gambrills location closing early (much friendlier staff), I wouldn't have took the drive. I will never come here again. Please go somewhere else. Some staff here aren't good representatives of the brand and are a bad image. First impressions mean everything. It's also not what you say, but how you say it. Over 3 hours later, I'm still waiting. If it wasn't for needing a precautionary COVID test, I would not have waited this long. While other urgent cares may have a long wait, I would rather wait and be treated better as a customer than this. read more

Been to other urgent cares and the service was fine. Went to Maple Lawn only because this was the designated location for my son's sports physical. First time, my husband walked out after waiting in the room for close to an hour (waiting room had a lot of people so he was not surprised). I went the second time (three people in the waiting room) and the process took an hour and a half and only talked to the nurse/doctor for less than ten minutes. No urgency what so ever and the staff was just talking and giggling in the hallway. When I went out to ask, how much longer, you could tell there was a lack of communication and they had no idea I was waiting. The room was quite dirty. I will not be returning to this location. read more
