I met Eric at First Class Coatings just after COVID hit the valley in early 2020. At the time, Eric was one of many garage floor epoxy installers I interviewed. Due to the summer season starting (high heat is bad for epoxy installation) Eric suggested I wait until temperatures cooled before moving forward. 6-months passed and during that time I met an unlicensed, non-certified wall and concrete person working on a neighbors house. I asked the gentleman if he could install a cinder block wall for my pool equipment and another to cover my A/C units. Afterward, I had him install a 600' concrete driveway extension. All went well apart from last minute price increases and failures to come when promised. It was then I asked if knew how to epoxy a garage floor (a dream of mine for quite sometime). He said yes and, due to the ongoing relationship and repeat business, I allowed him to do the work. It was a catastrophe. Among botching the job, I caught one of his employees stealing from me. Also, the man increased the price of the job by over 20% the day he came to do the work. After completely ruining my garage floor, the gentleman never came to fix it and refused to take my calls. He even stooped as low as to contact my wife and have his son threaten me if I didn't stop asking for him to make it right. I ended up filing a police report(due to the threat) and, the next day, called Eric. What a dramatic difference. Not only did Eric remember me, he came to my home immediately to access the damage. Eric stated a complete sanding, epoxy and clear coat was in order to make it right. Eric did not change his original quote, despite needing to do additional work, but also came the next day with a crew of 6 men! They worked tirelessly until the floor was perfect. Eric and his team came back multiple times over the next few days to apply clear coating and inspect the workmanship. He did all this without ever asking for any money upfront. When I asked him why, he stated "it hurts to see good people being taken advantage of by unlicensed contractors." He continued with saying "these types of contractors give our industry a bad reputation and I want to prove to you what professional workmanship and 30-years experience should look like." In today's day and age this attitude is extremely rare. People don't take pride in their work anymore and certainly don't stand by it or make it right when done wrong. Eric is a class act who made everything right with a firm handshake and a lot of integrity. I can say without a doubt, Eric is a good person who is passionate about his craft and extraordinarily caring for people he works with. My painter made me a deal I couldn't refuse on painting my rental home, and coating my garage floor. After I got loured into a discount price, I made the mistake of having my painter do my garage floors. His name was Javier. He told me that he had experience in doing epoxy garage floor coverings. I should've asked him for references. He used a Home Depot do-it-yourself garage floor epoxy system. (Which he made ME purchase) What a mistake I had made. He promised me that he would properly prep the concrete by pressure washing and acid treating. He may have done that correctly, who knows. But the execution of placing the next steps require years of experience in order to achieve a professional result. Chips were heavy in spots and light in others, It looked Horrible! The floor was totally messed-up. The texture of epoxy was random throughout, as were the "flakes" that get scattered onto the surface. The flakes were clumped together in certain areas, and loosely scattered in others. Some flakes were so loose and non-bonded that they were being transported into the house as I made my way through the garage into the house. It all started out because this was a rental home, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on the garage floors. ( I didn't forget First Class Coatings, just was looking to save a few bucks) But as it turns out, I ended up spending more money than I would've had I started with a professional. I had to call the person that did my own personal garage floors in my private residence. I had to call -Eric from First Class Coatings again... Glad I did! I showed Eric the poorly done job. Eric didn't want to do the garage floors, seeing that someone else had started the process. He didn't want his name associated with this project that might tarnish a stellar reputation. He wasn't sure how well the epoxy bonded to the concrete in the job from the painter. He could offer no guarantees. I know it's much harder to "correct" a Bad job than to do a good job right from the beginning. But as it turns out Eric was able to correct the massive mistake and turn it into what appeared to be a beautiful seamless epoxy-coated garage floor. I didn't want to trust anyone else in trying to correct the disaster I had on my hands. In the long run, this was a learning experience for me. I spent more money going through the painter, then having Eric fix the crappy job done by the painter. If you're looking for a predictable, excellent job, done at a reasonable price call Eric. Don't make the mistake of using a person with minimal experience! Eric is not the cheapest, nor is he the most expensive. But chances are, the job will be something you can will be extremely pleased and it will be done to a high detail fashion, and Finished ON-Time! read more

I contacted First Class Coatings on April 26th, Eric the owner was arriving at a job but took time to explain what his company provided and the entire process. He told me to do my diligence in screening other companies before making a decision. I spoke to a few other companies, but their prices weren't even coming close to what First Class Coatings offered. Later that evening I contacted Eric again to let him know I would like to move forward. He mentioned that he was working on a large 8000+ sq ft project. I thought to myself, this is his scapegoat to push my project to the bottom of his schedule and ultimately forget about it. Eric wasn't able to come out and physically look at my garage floor. He asked me to take some pictures of it. I sent them over and he tells me that my floor doesn't look like it's in the ideal condition (house was built in 2015, added a 10x4 ft step pad to the house entrance). Again, I start thinking to myself now he going to up charge me. He assured me that he would do everything he could on his end to not increase the price we had talked about. He took the weekend to arrange his schedule for the next week. We spoke on Tuesday 5/2 and he said he could have his crew out on Friday. I told him that probably wouldn't work since we were having my son's first birthday party at our house on Sunday. He asked me if I was comfortable (cleaning out the garage) to start on Wednesday. Took me a couple hours to get the garage cleared, but we were ready to go. The crew showed up on time and got right to work. Each of them were extremely knowledgeable with all my questions. They had to use some TLC on the step pad surfaces, patching and grinding them. They notified my wife when they finished that day and said they would be back early Thursday to complete the work. They finished applying the final coat as well as touching up the baseboards. I receive the invoice and was expecting additional charges for the extra work that was needed. There were no additional charges, like Eric said he covered the additional labor and materials. Needless to say I'm extremely glad I went with First Class Coatings from start to finish. read more

First Class Coatings did a fantastic job on my garage. I am so happy I contacted Eric. I tried to get the garage floor done back in May before I had the water softener system installed in the garage so I had a very tight scheduling window. I called quite a few garage floor coating companies to get a quote for my garage and no one called me back except Eric from First Class Coatings. He came to my house promptly and explained the entire process and also brought me a lot of samples so I can see the different coverings and colors. I chose a 5 layer granite decorative chip epoxy/urethane floor coating. Eric gave me a very good price. One of the previous floor coating companies that I called did finally call me back to let me know they were booked until August. They did send me their price list and Eric at First Class Coating had given me a better price and also he could get it done within the time frame I needed before the water softener company came to install the tanks in the garage. His team arrived on time and they worked hard and did a great job at grinding the concrete floor and applied granite decorative chips and the first coat. Eric came to inspect the floor that evening and briefed me through the drying process. He and his guy came back a few days later to apply the 2 top coats after the first coat was dried. His attention to details is amazing. The quality of his work is fantastic! They did an excellent job in such a short time. Eric even came back a few days later for a follow up visit and to be sure the floor was done to my satisfaction! Needless to say, I am very happy with the floor and the service I received from his company. Every service guy that came to my house had commented how beautiful my garage floor looked and they liked the quality it showed!!! I am an engineer so the devil is in the details. FCC came recommended to me from a friend whose floor I saw. He is also an engineer btw. I called Eric several times and had many questions. What I liked about Eric is that he would patiently answer my slew of questions but at the same time give his candid feedback as I asked him for guidance and suggestions when I wasn't sure what I wanted. He would only do this after gathering information on my project and personality (I.e. Detailed person). Anyway, he communicated well throughout the project and the chip floor looks great. Eric coats with his crews, has been in the business for a great number of years so he really knows his stuff. His guys are friendly, professional and perform quality work. What I'll say about Eric is that I wish more contractors ran their business like he does. Super honest and transparent guy. Straight shooter. My project was a new construction detached garage that was 782 Ft2. This included a separate shop that was coated also. Originally I had wanted to do a solid color in the shop and a chip finish in the 2 car parking area. After several conversations with Eric and him guiding me as I sought his expert opinion, I decided on a decorative chip finish throughout. I couldn't be happier. Three days to do the project, but that's because I was on no set schedule and he fit me in where he could as he was super busy. I found First Class Coatings via excellent reviews on both google and Yelp.. After doing my own research, I had spoken with a few companies, Yet I found Eric to be the most informative of them all. The fact that he has over 27 years as a Phoenix Epoxy Floor Coating installer made me feel quite confident in hiring his firm. The contract provided was very complete and I knew exactly what I was paying for. All of the preparation steps were outlined and executed. I liked the fact that this company thoroughly ground my floor, - No acid bath, to potentially damage my newly installed paver driveway. The first man showed up right on time at 7am, later following his other crew. All members are clean cut and nice easy going personnel. The Floor was ground, and vacuumed clean. not a blown mess like I have read in other companies reviews. We selected a heavy chip broadcast floor. The 2 day, 4 layer system. It looks amazing! I asked for a custom color chips that Eric had no problem to accommodate. Not only was the project beautiful. All the details were taken to prevent mess, such as daily clean up, taping baseboards for protection and straight lines, and most importantly my home did not show evidence that they were even here. I was looking at 6 different epoxy floor companies all ranging in price and I guess you could say quality, at least want sounded like what would or would not be quality. There were a couple way cheaper but they use epoxy you buy in the store, don't diamond grind, prep or put protective top coats after they are done. It came down to two companies, first class coatings and 1 other. They both offered me the same exact product, same finish, same prep, same everything, but the other company was much more pricy. Maybe they didn't do as many floors as first class. I talked to Eric several times and he never rushed me and answered all my questions and went over cleaning the floor even on first call. He was able to get me on the schedule very quick. His first guy came out to do the prep work. I was able to see the process and it was amazing. The guy worked with concrete for over 20 years. He paid very close attention to detail and sealed every crack and he perimeter of the garage. Later that day the next crew came in and laid the epoxy down and threw the chips. I did not see them do this, but when I came home it looked amazing. This morning they came out to finish the job with the protective top coat and it just turned out looking like a million dollar garage. They didn't ask for a dollar until I was 100% satisfied with the project. There was a little hole in the epoxy after the first day in a crack, I didn't mention it and after the second visit they had it filled! Eric and his team provided me with a beautiful clear sealed concrete floor in my new RV barn. We got off to a tough start due to 3 different expectations between me as the owner, the GC and Eric, the owner of First Class Coatings. Our garage floor had a rough life. Dents and holes were a result of many years of pounding with a sledge hammer. Also, numerous large black areas where oil and grease had been spilled. It was a homeowner's nightmare. We had it professionally cleaned with a large machine. When it dried it was pronounced clean but still looked horrible. After we applied three coats of sealer and let it dry, we bought epoxy paint at a big box store and applied that. After a lot of work, the floor was a nice shade of blue/gray. Unfortunately, it was easily damaged and would not have looked nice for a week. That's when we called Eric at FIRST CLASS COATINGS. Eric came to our house right away for a conference. Eric told us about his machine that would remove the paint, the sealer and all those gouges, holes and dents in the floor. It worked as promised! I originally phoned Eric, 4.5 years ago, during the build out of our veterinary clinic. I needed a matte finish, non-slip, easy clean, no grout and super durable (20 + years) floor. Eric came to my location, the same day, to explain the process and show me samples. Eric also directed me to another vet clinic, where I could see the very same floor I wanted. I was able to see for myself how the floor was holding up and talk to the people who used it everyday and were responsible for cleaning it. Eric was attentive to our timeline. SUPER - Fantastic ! - This Guy Blew Me Away with his knowledge of the Coatings Business. I interviewed 6 different companies.. I know, a bit excessive.. Oh Well. I was burnt in the past... I needed to make sure I was getting the most Knowledgeable - Skilled installers I could find. Its a one time shot to get it right! Almost hired an un- licensed company by mistake.. Oh Boy.. Eric and Staff impressed from the first phone call to the finished results. I am seriously an floored... The concrete was ground with a pretty large floor grinder with excellent vacuum containment.. Very cool.. End Result: This Garage Floor is Stunning. To keep things simplified. If you seek a quality installation company, With integrity, - Reliability and a truly detailed floor installation.. May 2019 I had a very good experience working with First Class Coatings..  I had shopped around but ultimately felt the most comfortable with Eric, the owner. He provided me with pictures of possible colors and explained the process in detail. He always answered my calls or returned them promptly. The installers arrived on time and installed a clean, beautiful garage floor. They came back the following day to finish the job.  I was very happy with the installation The next day I noticed a spot of something on the floor that I couldn't wipe up and wasn't sure what it was..  I called Eric and he was kind enough to send back his crew the very next day; not only did they check the spot I was in question about, but they sanded and completely re-coated the entire top coat of the garage floor a 2nd time. - No charge. At first I was not sure I wanted or needed an epoxy coating on my garage floor. But when I decided to do it, I connected with my contractor, who also epoxies floors. He recommended that I NOT go with him (as our contractor) but that I go with First Class Coatings - he knew of the Company and that it had an excellent reputation. He was right. Hired Eric with first class coatings back in 1998. He was the most responsive of all the trades people we had selected during our complete remodel. Always answered the phone, and was polite and easy going. Not only was he informative and knowledgeable, his staff was the same. Somewhat shocked to see that when I called again (18 years later, Eric still answered) -Wow! We recently moved and had another garage floor coating installed . After or fantastic experience, wouldn't think of using anybody else. The installation started and finished right on-time as promised! All baseboards were masked, the concrete was ground by machine and the remaining concrete dust on the floor was vacuumed clean.
