If I could give this establishment zero stars I would, I came in for a set of piercings that the piercer available to put it simply, fucked up. I was given bars that were too short to accommodate the swelling and wasn't informed that the ball size wasn't wise for the initial healing process, proceeded to have me wait for them to fix what started as common swelling, to puss oozing out of them, the crusts forming over the balls of my Piercing and almost disappeared into my face. I was told to wait until they were available at the place I was pierced at and they had me commute hours from my home to correct the issue they could've solved before I even left the parlor. Got my piercings upsized and ruined my clothes, THE KICKER is that they told me after all of that, I should be grateful they didn't charge me for the jewelry to upsize because they have "other people to attend to". I almost went to the hospital and I don't even get the common curtesy of a "I'm sorry I made an improper choice" as we people make mistakes. Even piercer's granted, they are trained in the field. The search to find a reputable studio and artist who can bring your idea to life is work, but when I came across this place I had a good feeling I was going to be in good hands. I initially found their IG, and was intrigued by the black + grey tattoos Lina did. I emailed her through her own website, and we were able to set up a tattoo consultation within the next week at First Class. Lina was super friendly, and talked with me about the best size/placements on my thigh for the tattoo. She was also understanding, that her piece would be collaborating with another artist's design at a later time. We then set our tattoo appointment three weeks from the consultation, although she had spots available for next week. She also suggested to send anything that inspired my tattoo idea. Come of tattoo day, she shows me her rough draft of the design and I instantly fell in love. Lina spent time researching ornaments of Filipino tribal tattoos and who Tala was. After reviewing the sketch, I had about 30 minutes before we were going to start tattooing so she could finish the stencil. When the stencil was finished and placed on me, she expressed it would be awesome if we could check in with the other artist to ensure her placement would affect his plans. To me that meant a lot, because she wanted to ensure both tattoos would fit well with another. Lina was able to adapt to the placement suggestions, and we started tattooing from there. I spent 8 hours at the shop, with 7 of them being tattooed. We took a break about every 1.5 hour so I could drink/snack/and utilize the bathroom. After the tattoo, she placed second skin, and gave me thorough instructions on tattoo after care. We also set up a follow up appointment a month after to make sure my skin was holding the ink. She mentioned that my tattoo was a little tough since my skin wasn't taking the ink, but she managed and the piece is flawless. The appointment was because she wants to ensure everything is thorough, and man I appreciate the thoroughness. In total, for the whole day it came out to $2000 (which makes $250/hr for the 8 hr day). And honestly it was worth every dollar. My tattoo experience with Lina was outstanding especially since this is my first big piece. Also, almost a week post tattoo and it looks amazing. read more

I had a tattoo done at another place (super famous and $$$ shop) and it was horrific. I went in for a small cover up tattoo and walked out with a half back disaster that cost me a fortune. I was pretty upset with the disaster and afraid to let anyone tattoo me ever again but also couldn't imagine leaving the half back disaster tattoo. I felt mutilated. I called a number of places and sent them the photo of the disaster. Another artist from another shop said he couldn't polish the turd. Fortunately First Class offers laser and tattoo! From my first interaction I felt good about the place. I met with Mikhail and decided if anyone was going to tattoo me, it would be him. He spoke with me about the reality of the situation and took the time to discuss some of the technical stuff. If only I'd come to him first! The upside is after several laser appointments and then a series of sessions my back disaster transformed into an amazing tattoo. I never would have gotten this tattoo had the original tattoo not gone so off the rails and left me with little other choice. Took a little less than an hour after the appointment time for her to finish the design completely but I didn't mind since I wanted it to be something that she and I both liked. Throughout the appointment, she made sure I was comfortable and even got me a juice during our break midway. In all, it took 6 hours for a piece that I'm proud to have. It was my first ever tattoo and Natashia made the experience! Her work (while pricey) is detailed and exactly what I had envisioned. I got first tattoo done by Mikhail a while back, I made and waited 8 months because he was booked solid for that long. I was really excited to get ink done by him because he is obviously a talented artist. Unfortunately when my appointment came around, it was clear that he had spent no time thinking about or working on the custom design idea I had sent him and only skimmed the description of what I wanted. I waited about an hour while he photoshopped some clip art together and was clearly frustrated and impatient when I would ask him to make changes to the design. I got my second tattoo from Hira Lupe and I could not be more happy or impressed with her style and artwork. I came in with a concept and a few elements for what I wanted, and she ran with it! It was a 5 hour session with stories, a few laughs, and a lot of ink. The shop is very clean and organized. They maintain a very professional appearance. They are also very welcoming. Hira is such a sweet person and the rest of the artists are friendly. Most of the artists charge $200/hr but for the amount of work and passion I got from my session it was worth it. So let me start by saying the work is great. Artists are talented. I won't name names of artist out of respect but I was overcharged Everytime I went there. so I paid it. 3rd time I went there it was really awkward when I called them out , and instead of 1000 my artists felt guilty and charged me 250. I tipped 250 to be nice, even though they were trying to overcharge me. And lying to my face. I would've rather he admitted what happened and said sorry and charged me normal price. But he did the right thing by giving me discount. The girls at front desk were saying "oh his price went up to 300 per hour from 250". The one with black hair , skinny , looks way older than she is , tatts everywhere , she couldn't even look me in my eye when she lied. She looked at the floor. They couldnt look me in my eyes when lying to my face... other receptionist the shorter chubby girl with no visible tattoos who looks younger, was also lying to my face saying it was miscommunication. I said "are you joking?". the artist comes back in from smoking and they change the lie and say "oh the price was always 300 per hour". Oh so NOW THE LIES ARE CHANGING? LOL. At this point I scoff out loud cause of how terrible they are at lying. I then went in my email to provide PROOF the shop emailed me months ago telling me his price is 250 per. Every artist in the shop is 250 per hour. And they don't charge for stencil time. First and second time there I was charged for stencil time. But I loved the work so I paid it... Cause I'm nice. Perhaps they saw this as something to take advantage of. So The artist blamed all these weird vibes and bad lies on management and miscommunication. This was the last lie. I could tell he was lying, I'm born in Manhattan. I know lies and scams when I see one. Plus they were terrible liars! At least have the balls to look me in my eyes when attempting to screw me over, like a true new Yorker would! Don't look at the ground and make it obvious... Anyway, the artist looked at me in a guilty fashion, I could tell he felt badly... so instead of the 1000 he only charged me 250. This was my 3rd time going to this place. I would've KEPT GOING. From the time you enter Michelle always gets your ready and handles the shop really nicely. I know all the artists are very talented, but I go to Natashia and I can't recommend her enough if you want a piece. She's top notch and very detailed and talented. Along with that she's super easy to work with and listens to your ideas and is able to make it come to life. Highly recommend her. A review for the shop and artist. The Shop: When you enter the shop you instantly think, clean. As a germaphobe, I have a hard time feeling comfortable in certain places, especially tattoo shops. Especially tattoo shops in NY. This place has changed my view. Although, it's not the most welcoming place on earth, everyone starts to warm up to each other, making you, ultimately, feel more comfortable. Hey, that's just New York for ya! The artist: Hunter was my artist and he made the whole experience better. I was doing some research on Instagram and yelp and stumbled across his page. For someone who's been tattooing for a shorter amount of time than most, his work is phenomenal. We had to get fairly comfortable with each other very fast because of the placement of my tattoo, but it didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable. Hunter remained extremely professional and made sure, not to demand, but to ask if it was okay to disrobe certain areas. He would, also, constantly ask if I was doing okay and even made sure the teddy bear I brought with me was okay. Although, I'm pretty sure the bear felt more pain than I did from the biting and squeezing. (Haha). It's great that he had a sense of humor about it. Nonetheless, I appreciate Hunter's sentiment and down to earth nature. At first I was a little hesitant on working with him because he wouldn't allow me to see the ideas for the design over the internet, but he did allow me to come in the day before the appointment to make changes and make sure it was exactly what I wanted. I reached out to First Class back in November and began discussing my request in December 2021. After a few rounds of emails, I was able to book an appt on January 6th for Feb 9th. I even sent over my deposit and put in my PTO request from work. During the time I booked my appt and day of, I only heard back from them the week prior to my appt to confirm it. Finally, the day of my appt arrives and I get there and I was seated waiting for about 25 minutes after I completed all the intake forms only to be told, the artist who I had an appt with could not complete my tattoo request. All I wanted was a flower to fill up some space I had between an exisiting tattoo. She informed me that her manager mistakenly chose her and she was not even aware of my request until that day. I expressed to her how unprofessional this was due to the fact, I made a deposit, took off work and traveled to get there. She was very kind and tried to accomodate me however in the end, she decided she could not go through with my request. My appt was at 1PM and I was turned away at 3PM. It was such a waste of my time and a terrible experience. I waited over a month for this appt only to be turned away DAY OF. I even asked for reccomendations for other studios since they could not help but it's been radio silent since I left. Thankfully I got my deposit back, but my time is something I will never be able to get back. I'm not sure if I would go back here for another request or reccomend to others. Maybe I'll give them another chance later in the future but for now I'm left feeling disrespected. read more

So we are actually going to do a 3 part review. Part one.. consultation. After emailing and getting a very quick and professional response, the manager, Michelle set my son up for a consultation with Dmitry. When entering the shop, it's beautiful. Very professional and clean. The manager is very friendly and knowledgeable about hooking you up the the artist best suited to do the kind of work you are looking for. My son is 19 and has literally been planning this tattoo out in his mind since he was 14. It's mostly a tribute to his beloved grandmother that was literally his world. Knowing that it is a substantial piece, We didn't want to go get "tattooed" what he was looking for is an artist to create a piece for him that can capture exactly what he wants. Dmitry sat with us both and listened while my son and I explained what he was looking for. Dmitry explainers in great detail what was possible and not possible considering my sons skin complexion ect. After researching for literally 2 years to find a place that we could trust to do this piece, my son is so comfortable and excited to be working with Dmitry! Upon scheduling, Dmitry went over in detail, instructions for before and after the tattoo (no exercise, vitamins ect) and the reasoning behind it. At no time did they make us feel rushed, Dmitry listened and cared about what my son really wants. We can't wait for the next step in the process and he will be getting his artwork tattooed in 2 weeks. We will update the review then. So far we are beyond impressed! read more

Yesterday I got my second tattoo done by Hunter. He was so incredibly patient as I reached my pain threshold, but was supportive and encouraging with 'just a little longer' comments. For some reason I seem to pick the most painful tattoo locations, but he made it slightly less miserable by his kindness. He's a true artist focused on his work and passionate about being a perfectionist - and it shows. I'm pretty bummed about my experience... the tattoo came out great but the cost was astronomical and my tattoo artist didn't speak English. This was my first tattoo and it was a small bird about 2 inches in length and 1 inch in width. How on earth could that cost $200 vs someone who gets a big tattoo in 1 hour for the same price? I feel like I was taken advantage of for sure. I had emailed several times throughout the day and they told me I didn't need an appointment but just to come in instead after work. When I got there she had to "find" an artist for me because no one was available (although 2-3 were just sitting there). I was asking questions to the receptionist about the pain and how much it hurt in different areas. A tattoo artist took it upon himself to jump into the convo from the back and dismiss my questions entirely - "yeah, yeah it hurts everywhere" and so on. Thanks, didn't need his sarcasm or opinion. It was my first tattoo and I was nervous and had every right to ask as many questions as I wanted. It took 6 minutes from start to finish (my friend timed it). The guy who did my tattoo was nice but he didn't speak English... after he finished he told me i should keep the clear sticker on it for 3-4 days and the lady at the front desk would tell me the rest (through pointing to upstairs area I interpreted this). She told me to leave it on for 2 days. So which one is it? With no clear after care instructions, I just googled it myself and asked a friend. The place was clean and nice but the cost was offensive and I 100% agree with another user that the place was unwelcoming - they just stare at you and judge you from afar. I felt like a total outsider and was embarrassed to be there, feeling like I didn't belong. But maybe I should be embarrassed - after all, I did just paid $200 for 6 minutes of work by someone who doesn't speak English. read more

I recently came to First Class and received a floral tattoo from Sebastian. I am very happy with the way the piece came out. The lines are very clean and the shading is beautiful. Sebastian was very nice, accommodating, and focused and I enjoyed working with him. I decided to give this place 4 stars instead of 5 for a couple of reasons. First, the artist did not come in with a design and I ended up spending about an hour and half there waiting for him to make one before getting tattooed even though he knew what I wanted weeks in advance. Prior to coming in we emailed back and forth a few times deciding on a design, font for the lettering etc. He was extremely responsive and helped us talk through our ideas beforehand so when we came in we didn't have to spend much time working on the design. Everyone in the shop is super friendly and even funny (ask Skyler about home wrecker penguins). Ishraki took his time getting the placement and sizing right on each of us. My husband and I got matching tattoos but we are very different sizes so the tattoo couldn't be exactly the same. Ishraki made sure to resize and place each of our based on our body shape and size. He worked quickly and we both are extremely pleased with his attention to detail and the finished product. We will definitely be visiting him again in the next few months! read more
