River Park Shopping Center is a full-service mall. It has a gas station, a drive thru Rite Aid, old…read moreschool Emmy Lou's Diner, a Goodwill, a donut shop, a Carl's Jr, a mattress shop, a new hot dog shop, Wah Sing Chinese restaurant, Valencia taqueria/Mexican grocery, and there will soon be a St. Joseph's clinic. River Park has had its ups&downs. Its Subway is empty most of the time... how it stays open is a miracle. There's a bar, a sketchy looking laundromat, the Fresh&Easy/gym is now a vacant anchor store. The homeless have camped out in the parking lot occasionally. Still, it's hardly a "dead mall." The organic Golden Carrot is gone; they once sold the vegetarian cookbooks of Crescent Dragonwagon&had business cards for chakra/Reiki healers. Of course, the Fresh&Easy spot has been empty for awhile.... luckily, there's a Grocery Outlet, and since they have genuine deals&NO self checkout, they do a business. The Grocery Outlet has benefited the shopping center greatly. The Goodwill is a great place for finding vintage books&vinyl albums. Happy's Donut Tree Too combines beautiful native Cambodian art with affordable coffee&donuts made onsite. Wah Sing Chinese restaurant is a neighborhood gathering place. Valencia Market/Taqueria is underrated, and their tacos el pastor have a prayer. River Park is slowly revitalizing. Hopefully a tenant will soon be found for the former gym/Fresh&Easy. Luckily, it's already flourishing... and unlike Bel Aire, the parking is good&it isn't too hectic.

I don't recall taking the train ride, but for only $5 it's a must do for kiddos these days. Cheaper than a trip to Disneyland. What I really recall is the giant gingerbread people they used to have in their bakery. My parents would never get me one, but every time I saw them the drool was on. They also had quick breads like zucchini bread and the such. I'm a sucker for zucchini breads and other quick breads. I went a few years back ready to get my ginger bread man and some quick bread and to my dismay they don't have any of that anymore. Being an adult now I was so ready to buy all those things my parents wouldn't buy me. Being an adult has those perks. Now the Nut Tree is a place made up of restaurants and some key stone stores such as Ultra and Old Navy. If you hunt around you can find Sees. I really wanted to go to Sees today, but we ran out of time to make the trek over there. We did have time to explore Kirkland. I've never been to a Kirkland before and it turned out to be a real fun store. They had a great deal on diffusers. 1/5 the price of the ones I saw in Fort Bragg. I found one that I LOVED the scent to in Fort Bragg, but couldn't rationalize spending the money on it. I almost got one of the cheaper ones at Kirkland, but resisted as I really didn't need to spend the money today. I need to save up for the Berry Festival in Woodland this weekend and I bought too much stuff in Fort Bragg this weekend. We did go to Fenton's and shared a cone of black cherry and loved every bite the last time we were at the Nut Tree. It's hard to resist a cone from Fenton's when you stop at the Nut Tree. They are located to the right of the big Nut Tree sign and next to the bathrooms that are on the Left. We walk by it all the time as we go to the bathroom for our potty stop. Just thinking about it I'm drooling. We also stopped buy Old Navy. They always have tons of cute tees for $10, which is a good deal in my book for new shits. They had a ton for cute skirts and dresses, but they weren't a style I'd wear so we walked out empty handed. That was our stop in the Nut Tree this time. It's always a solid rest break and potty stop on our way.

First, the decor is amazing with art everywhere and records to the right and bar to the left. All of the furniture and fixtures feel very intentional and cool. It has a welcoming vibe to it that is great for locals and visitors alike. We stopped by on a Saturday night and had one low abv cocktail Surreus tea, which was light and refreshing and Two Earls One Cup, which came in the cutest tea cup and saucer with a cookie on the side. Service was really friendly and attentive. We even came back the following day to buy a record and a band was about to play. Really recommend!

Hubby and I are huge vinyl junkies (he's a DJ - "DJ Swift") so was fun going through their vinyl collection. This is a must when you're in the Napa hood!

Sonoma Court Shops CA Sat 5/7/22 ©…read moreLife takes you places. Figuratively speaking and literally, too. It took me to Sonoma downtown this Saturday in May! Sonoma Court Shops is a courtyard across the street from historic Sonoma Plaza, an outdoor space full of shops, wine tasting rooms and galleries. Never knew it was there, a truly surprise find! Wine county treasure. Fountains, arches covered in greenery, retail shops, little oasis of pleasure and joy. Gastronomically satisfied belly, after delicious brunch in San Francisco, called for relaxation with a good bottle of wine. It's time for the soul. Over the Golden Gate I go! And back into yelping, after a month-long break, taken for full immersion in work. Life's been busy, my friends! That's how I do things - I dive in! With everything I have! Drove to wine country and ended up in Sonoma Court Shops walkways. It's a Vine Alley, come explore! A welcoming European detour is sure to please. You'll thank me later! After My Own Art…read more Located on 217 acres of pristine Napa Valley land, the Di Rosa is a contemporary art museum that's been operating publicly since 1997. This museum is the personal collection of Rene & Veronica di Rosa. The Good: *Temporary exhibits rotate approximately every four months. *Complimentary umbrellas (more on that later) *A good portion of the exhibits are outdoors along their gorgeous property. *Shuttle if you don't want to or need assistance walking from building to building. *You really have to like weird shit because this place is full of it. Personally, I love it, but if you're more "serious" art person, then this probably won't be your jam. *Picnic tables on the grounds, as you're encouraged to bring food and drink to enjoy in their outdoor area. *Friendly staff The Meh: *General admission of $25 might be a touch high for an art museum. The Ugly: *Be wary when visiting during inclement weather,as there's a large part of this museum that's outdoors. So you'll probably miss out on some of it, but the free umbrellas (mentioned above) did come in handy. Conclusion: Fun art museum with some really cool pieces and doesn't take itself too seriously.
