Normally the potatoes are filled with flavor and very delicious that was not the case during this dining experience, My elevated egg sandwich was very good, I was excited about having grits because when I had them in Florida they were the best grits I ever had in my life. My dining partner has also dined at First watch in Florida more than once and he was very pleased with each experience, He was not impressed with the one in Fairborn. It felt like we weren't even at a first watch Restaurant. RE: the FW in Fairborn, OH: I wish I would have taken a pic but I was so disappointed that I didn't. The hubster & I wanted to have a nice breakfast before catching an early movie so he picked First Watch the night before. It was a great plan; eat early at 8am and then drive to watch a movie @ 9:15am then have the rest of the day free. It all went along fine until my plate came. I ordered the Skillet Hash - Farmers & the hubster got the Turkey Sausage, gravy, biscuit and potatoes. His potatoes arrived 70% burned and he immediately asked them to take it back. The server pushed it back and said, "I'll get you some more." And she did and the new bowl of potatoes were only 50% burned. She asked me how mine was when it arrived; I told her it would due except I hadn't lifted my egg yet. It seemed like they took yesterday's leftovers and heated them to charred. As if that wasn't enough, my skillet hash was more like farmers produce in an oil soup. I used one whole napkin to soak up the oil and lifted one side of my bowl to watch another 1/2 c. of oil to drain out below. It took 20 minutes for the server to come over and check on us. I then told her I didn't want this and she asked why. I showed her the oil coated, drippy napkin and the oil still in the bowl. She grabbed them, took it all away, brought the bill, noting that she'd taken off the plate I ordered. No apologies from her + our experience = a no return for us. read more

A colleague and I absolutely loved our breakfast here. The service was fantastic from the time we walked in the door until we left. The menu is fresh with local ingredients and everything seemed to be homemade. The works omelette was fantastic in every aspect. The potatoes were fresh, the omelette was flavorful and huge. I'm upset it closes so early but it is worth getting up to go to. The servers are friendly and they are all willing to help, not just the one assigned to your table. The one thing I can say is that there was barely any eggs for the trifecta. The plate can also be too large but it didn't have as much food as was expected. The place was busy even on a Thursday morning, a good sign. The tables floor etc are nice and clean the ambiance is warm and welcoming. Not a quiet place the sound carries but not too noisy. Cocktails are available except for Sundays. My husband had the breakfast tacos which were excellent unfortunately I ordered the eggs, Benedict, on toast, not English muffins. Only one egg had a tiny bit of hollandaise the egg yolks were overcooked and solid the whites were raw. I have no idea how that was accomplished. The waitress was great except I think she should have noticed I pushed the eggs to the side asked for butter and ate the bread as toast. Well, I'll try them again...probably. I love eating here when I decide to go out for breakfast. The flavors are always amazing even if something small is wrong like eggs a little over cooked than wanted. That is the only "complaint" that I have on that I have. It feels weird giving 5 stars to First Watch. My first experience at another location was chaos. This place on a Wednesday morning around 7:30am was excellent. The staff was very nice and attentive. The breakfast was excellent, too. I got the oatmeal, which sounds pretty basic, but it had great fruit and pecans. The oatmeal was great, too. Often the extras in oatmeal mask the underlying goo, but this oatmeal was very good. I also liked the coffee. I didn't have to put cream in it. I just drank it black. I know it's good when I don't kill the taste with other stuff. I didn't even get around to the muffin, yet. I'm pretty full. Great job. read more

I really enjoy the food at this restaurant. I have been here a few times and have gotten something different every time. The first time I got the Florentine eggs Benedict. They were delicious. Everything was cooked and put together perfectly. I do recommend! The second time I got the avocado toast (forgot to get a picture because I was with a group of people) and I added tomatoes. It was a extra $1.99 to add 2 slices of tomato. Which the waiter (male with a bob haircut) didn't make me aware of. Which is a negative in my opinion.. if you're going to charge someone extra for stuff like that you should always let your customers know. No one likes a surprise on their bill!I definitely recommend the avocado toast. And if you're willing to pay extra get the tomato's! The third time I ordered the farmhouse skillet hash. This was my favorite. My only recommendation is less onion and more red peppers. I have tried the cold brew a couple times and it almost tastes like it came out of one of those cold brew jugs you can buy at Walmart... that's my main negative but it's not enough to make this restaurant less than 5 stars. My next negative.. the host (female with short hair) is a bit intense. She's very good at her job but doesn't seem happy. I think she needs a raise and a vacation! I came here and had their "The Works" omelet. It comes with greens or seasoned potatoes. I didn't care too much for the seasoned potatoes, but I'm not a potatoes person so I'm not rating the restaurant because of that. The eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, and mushrooms however were GREAT! I'd come back just for those. Looking over the menu, I'd probably order the Tri-fecta next time since it doesn't come with potatoes. That way it doesn't go to waste. *note to self* I also got their fresh squeezed orange juice but as I was leaving one of the customers told me that the Kale Tonic juice is where it's at. She seemed disappointed that what I had in my hand was just OJ. LOL. Also, this place has some kind of an App where you can put your name down on the waitlist ... The food tastes weird to me. It seems kinda snotty and expensive for tasteless food. There is absolutely no atmosphere.

Undercooked potatoes, dry biscuits, spicy gravy with onions (without warning), NO MODIFICATION ability via DoorDash (unlike similar but better restaurant-Lefty's, who also don't make their gravy spicy). No option to request cream and sugar with the coffee, so you get it black (and it tastes like an ash tray). Instead of just adding it to the bag, they add a ton of ketchup and jam when you don't have anything that typically benefits from ketchup or jam in your biscuits and gravy (lol). Not to mention that you will OVERPAY for the portion and quality. Of course I had to get refunded via doordash because the spicy onion gravy was inedible for me due to my health conditions... Now is that just because I didn't respond to the employee's response to my original review Im gonna go with "not a chance." Don't advertise health consciousness and refuse to allow mods via doordash or secretly include ingredients in your products, please! read more

I like the place in general but it depends to which location you go to. I had very good experiences at their location by the Dayton Mall but not so much at the Beavercreek location. The waitress at our last visit at the Beavercreek location was rather unpleasant. We felt very rushed. I asked for a salad without bacon, without meat. I only have two complaints .... 1. Goetta is not offered as a side (it is at the Cincinnati locations). 2. On this particular visit, my side of fruit consisted of one grape, one small pineapple chunk and the rest was honeydew. FAIL. Other than that, things were good. Since it was a Sunday morning, I knew it could be busy. I was happy to see on Yelp's page that there was no wait at around 9a. By the time we arrived at 9:15a, things had changed, but only slightly. We were told it would be a ten minute wait for a table of four. But I'm pretty sure we only waited about half that. We were able to start an order the second our waitress arrived (something I or refer to do when I have the kiddos). However, we only put in for my toddler's pancakes. We waited until her second visit to put in the rest of our order. While his pancakes came out in no time, I our two other plates took quite a bit. My boy was done eating and twiddling his thumbs for quIte a few minutes before the rest of our food arrived. Thank goodness for the crayons to entertain him. Our food was great! The chickichanga and the Belgian waaffle are my two favorites. So dad and I ordered both and shared. This is what I I've gotten for most of my recent visits. :) The potatoes and fruit that cone with the chickichanga were the perfect finger foods for my 14 month old. So everything worked out! the team from the First watch was super gracious and showed a great deal of care to what we as customers think about their place, they reached out to me seeing that my experience was not up to their standards and they invited me to have a second go at the spot. i was excited to take up on the invitation and went there as soon as i could, i came this time with my husband as their food is not bad at all, i was pretty excited to show my hubbs how they do follow a healthier breakfast moto here (again not to mention the bacon plate thing that is one of the most talked about items in their menu btw) now we came on a thursday morning, it was a lot better than the weekend morning for obvious reasons that we all know, we came in and got a table right away, as we already had talked about a couple of weeks ago, the restaurant is very airy and has a very laid back decor, very trendy and hipster in a sense, as well as a bit farm like that gives you the idea of healthy kick food. this time i did not go for the chai, as it was not my thing last time, so we kept it simple and had some coffe. they serve the coffe on a traditional coffe pot so you get to have a couple of cups of coffe. as we came in it was already past 11 am so we decided to have a meal that is closer to a lunch item and oh boy what a great decision! we ordered the following items: PUMPKIN PANCAKE - boy this is a seasonal goddess of a breakfast food. their pancake was above and beyond my expectations, the pumpkin flavor was on point, not too much and not too little, just perfect. TURKEY BURGER WITH BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP - the burger was very delicious, wins a whole lot of brownie points with me because they serve the burger on a brioche bun, and brioche is just the king of the carbs in my book. the burger was cooked to perfection, nothing here was less than amazing in this dish. the soup was not behind on amazing taste. BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP - i wanted to talk about the soup on itself as both our dishes had the soup (as per our choice) both of us who came to eat here were super happy about this choice, this soup was creamy and perfect, they had some chives and sour cream to add a bit more boldness to the soup and that little touch was right on the bulls eye, PERFECT. HAM AND GRUYERE SANDWICH - where there is bread and cheese there is me! i saw this and i went right for it, gruyere is a bold tasted cheese that you may not take lightly, it adds a special taste to any dish and it is not a run of the mill cheese to be found, this cheese is only used in a hand full of places that know truly how to use it, they did it! they use the gruyere pretty well here. as a cheese lover i would say that for my personal taste i could go with a little less ham, but if you are a meat lover this should be the perfect sandwich for you. if is a lunch/breakfast taste that is perfect for any time of the day. as the first visit we were presented with the check before the meal was over or we ask for, which again a practice that i absolutely HATE for the hospitality industry, this time the waitress did not bring the check with the meal nor so early as last time, therefore i didn't feel as rushed as the last time. even though i still stand by my dislike of that kind of practice, this overall second experience was so great from the walking in, service from the waitress, the quality and taste of the meal, and somewhat the timing the impromptu check came in, i can safely say that this was a great second run! i appreciate that the staff care for us customers and took the time to talk to me and made sure to have the people who come in to be happy. i will definitely come in one more time before i head back to my beloved NYC. Verdict: First trip to the First Watch was better than the last. The waitress said the Tri-Athlete wasn't very much food. I respectfully disagree and I can eat a lot. There's plenty to be had in this dish and I didn't need to add the potatoes on the side. I still enjoyed the potatoes so I guess it's not all bad. The omelette with the green chilé was just a little underwhelming for flavor. I've probably been spoiled after so many years in the Southwest and eating super fresh chilé peppers. Got the Chickichanga on my second visit and I have to say that it sounds and looks better than it tastes. The concept for the dish is good. Much like the omelette in the Tri-Athlete, there was just something missing and the overall flavor was off. Maybe they could've used a little more seasoning but also something other than salt. The First Watch is a good place for lunch if you're craving breakfast a little later in the day. Breakfast foods are good morning through night and everywhere in between. The food here isn't bad and I'd go back to try their other dishes. read more

Pajama pants with weird patterns? Come on people, it's not Golden Corral. Not only that the back of someone's sweatshirt read "Open your f**king eyes." Ummm how is that allowed, there are kids there. They also gave our table an already used coffee pot that we could only get two cups out of. I feel bad for the people next to us because our waitress reached over them eating to get us half and half, since our table didn't have it. Very good food. I highly recommend using the check in option through yelp before you get there, it helped us get seated really fast. We came in on the 4th of July so the place hopping. We had a group of 6 and we were able to get a table decently around 10am. I opted for the BLT eggs Benedict which was good. I forgot to ask for the potatoes instead of the salad but it was still good. Only downfall was it was missing the avocado which I had to ask for and add to it myself. My hubby got the carrot cake pancakes, my girls got the kids half waffle with bacon, kids chocolate chip pancake with bacon and an addition of scrambled eggs with cheese. My niece got the avocado toast and substituted the eggs for the home fries since she is vegan, and my mom got the homestyle skillet with scrambled eggs. All of the food was really good and the service was great. The only reason I knocked a star was for the kitchen not including all the ingredients on dishes. I will be back. read more
