The Perkins Restaurant just west of the Dayton Mall in Miamisburg is great spot for breakfast or dinner. My parents love their omelettes I'm always trying something new today I had the steak & pepper skillet very filling. Always friendly service from the entire team, the truly go the extra mile in everything they do Karen, Patty & the manager is great too. Stop by Perkins in Dayton for great meal!

Chopped Cobb Salad at Perkins Miamisburg

Perkins seems like it is one of those franchises operating on borrowed time. These places were once rather popular but they are not the same restaurants now as they were 30 years ago. They would have a fighting chance if the quality were upheld. But alas, these restaurants have declined during that time, or at least the ones I have visited are on their way downhill. This establishment seems to reflect that general malaise that is characteristic of the chain. The menu offers a few interesting options but the quality of the fare is less than satisfying. On our last visit at the dinner hour, there were four in our party. The four entrees included the Hearty Harvest omelet, the Spinach and Mushroom Skillet, the Chopped Cobb Salad and the Southwest Avocado Salad. The Skillet was pretty good and the Cobb salad and the omelet were OK. The fruit accompanying the omelet was nothing to write home about. The Southwest salad featured shamefully dark avocados and was, in general, unappetizing. One thing that Perkins still does well is baked goods. My wife had a cinnamon roll and was pretty happy with it. That was one salvaging point. The service was decent. Our server did a credible job and kept up decently with our drinks. I cannot complain about this aspect of our visit. Part of my displeasure was what we spent on our meals. With food, drink, tax and tip, the final cost for the two of us was $36. That meal was not worth $18 per person. For that sort of outlay, I would have liked to have had something a little more special, or memorable, or at least satisfying. I did not feel as though we got our money's worth. This was my third or fourth visit to this restaurant. I have had better experiences for breakfast as I think they do that meal much better. This may have been my last visit for lunch or dinner.

The food at this place is insane, I've been many times and every time I eat here it just gets better and raises my standards for other restaurants. They have two full sides of menu, and there's not a single dud. The service in this establishment is so excellent. The waitresses are super kind and fun, as well as helpful. Art fills the walls creating a beautiful space that Is intensified by tasteful music picks. This place feels straight out of a movie. Every choice they make for their business is so wonderful and you can tell it's a real team effort. This is what Ohio is, this is culture and community, and this is the unity food should bring.

You can tell they're aiming to put a unique twist on classic brunch dishes, which I can appreciate, even if it wasn't quite my style. I ordered the Gravy'd Cheddar Tots, and my friend ordered the Breakfast Burrito. While the food was well-prepared, I personally found the value a bit lacking for the price. The Gravy'd Cheddar Tots consisted mostly of tater tots topped with eggs, white cheddar, and gravy. I basically paid $16 for 2 eggs; I left more hungry leaving than I did coming in. I understand that their menu is designed to be creative and different from a traditional brunch spot, but I found myself missing some of the more classic breakfast elements. In the end, it just wasn't the right fit for my preferences, and I left wishing the meal had been a bit more filling.

So I subbed white toast and it was OK. The rest of my party also said that their food was not hot. There were a few complaints in my party about the bacon being flimsy, and then when it was sent back for it to be made crisper, it was burnt. My mother-in-law had to ask a few times for her side of pancakes. The chicken for the chicken and waffles that my brother got & my daughter, got a side of chicken tenders, were under-cooked for their liking. But the server, I believe her name was Tammy, was great! She was friendly and attentive. They also set us on the patio in hard unforgiving metal chairs. Most of my party is quite fluffy, and those chairs were not made for our body types. The hostess said there was nowhere else she could sit as when we addressed the issue. Therefore we made do. However, I don't think those chairs are good for anyone. They're just not comfortable chairs. They have very good coffee and flavored creamers! I gave four stars because my entire experience was pretty good, except for the lack of beignets. I just thought I would mention how my party felt as well.

On either side of us, as the server took other tables orders, we enjoyed the server's ass in our face. We were almost sitting with the people next to us, it was ridiculous. The servers run around frantically, forgetting things like extra butter (twice), and dropping trays of water as they try to keep up. They're obviously overloaded, while four teenagers lean on the counters at the front ready to cram more people into tiny spaces and keep the pandemonium going. It looks like they giving heaping helpings of everything. Piles of hash browns, a humongous pancake, and the gravy flows like wine. These are all cheap-ass ingredients. Tiny eggs, tiny pieces of bacon, and quarter sized pieces of sausage. It was such a crappy experience, it will be months before I even think about it. When I left, I dropped some farts, and it was pandemonium.
