I had a delivery from this restaurant yesterday. Perkins is similar to Dennys or Bob Evans in they have a variety of breakfast options as well as some burgers, sandwiches, and comfort meal options. I ordered the fish and chips meal which came with a small salad and one side. I opted for the tater tots. The salad was pretty good but I was disappointed with the fish and chips meal. The tater tots were a little soggy and lukewarm. I don't think they were freshly fried. The fish likewise seemed, to me anyways, to have been either pre-cooked or overly fried. It just seemed like the fish may have been sitting there. Out of three pieces of fish one was pretty good, and cut apart easily. However, the other two I had difficulty cutting. The pieces of fish themselves were a bit small. The value itself wouldn't be bad if the meal was actually enjoyable. It comes with one side and a salad. The blue cheese dressing for the salad was good and the tartar sauce for the fish seemed like it was homemade. However, I do not recommend because the food didn't taste very good. read more

Perkins The Greater Dayton Metropolitan Area offers a paucity of Pancake Houses, and Perkins is a "wanna be" panake house; however, otherwise an excellent breakfast option. My wife 's Ford required a visit to the dealer, and we decided on Brunch Pub, however, its breakfast options were very limited. My wife spied Perkins, and she changed our collective minds. Perkins, please locate a Perkins at the old Frisch's at Wilmington and Clyo. My wife likes menus, and requires perhaps ten minutes to select her breakfast, and this Perkins has an excellent bakery counter. Tiffany is our excellent server; Tiffany is full of smiles, and greets a number of folks in a great manner. This Perkins would profit from a larger parking area, but has abundant seating. We observer the manager and several servers on the floor and are readily available to clients - This is a very refreshing change from too many recent experiences at other properties. My wife elects French toast, eggs, and sausage; I have pancakes and similar. We are 100% pleased with our experience and shall return. read more

She did everything she set us up, brought her drinks ordered a food, serve the food, monitored our drinks and food. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we arrived. We were sat quickly. A waitress was delivering food to another table and told us she would be right with us. She returned after a couple of minutes and took our drink order. My iced tea tasted like they waved a tea bag over the cup and I didn't get the lemon I asked for. We them ordered. I asked for the balsamic vinaigrette for my salad and she said 'we don't have that. Oh wait, for the salad...we have Italian ' I said that was fine. The salad came quickly and I liked that it had spinach. While we were waiting for our entrees I watched as waitresses cleared tables and stacked the dishes on the table next to us. Our food came quickly. We were surprised that my husband's patty melt came with cheddar instead of the usual Swiss, he admitted to not reading the menu to know what it was supposed to have. My fish and chip had 1 piece that looked very over cooked. The batter on the 2 pieces that looked correct was gooey on the inside and as I ate them they dripped oil. The tartar sauce tasted unlike any I have had before and not in a good way. Combining the underdone batter and funky tartar sauce made for a unpleasant bite. Before we were even halfway through our meals our waitress brought our check. I asked for a piece of pie to go she huffed the walked off and came back with my pie and our check. Needless to say, we felt like we're being rushed out despite the place not being busy. As we were finishing up a nearby table asked a waitress for boxes she rudely told them that their waitress was supposed to get that, then went in to the kitchen and proceeded to loudly tell someone that the table wanted to go boxes. As my husband paid I visited the restroom which was clean and stocked. I understand everyone has off days, but it seemed to me all the wait staff was having a bad day all at one time. Casual, comforting and perfect! I've been bringing my mother here for lunch periodically for the last three years. The service is always wonderful. They give us time to decide without making us wait too long even when they are busy. The food is always excellent. Today I had homemade meatloaf and my mother had a BLT with soup. This is homemade food with more flavor than I can make in my home kitchen. Everything we've ordered has been delicious and completely satisfying. The breakfast burger is one of my favorites. Perkins seems like it is one of those franchises operating on borrowed time. These places were once rather popular but they are not the same restaurants now as they were 30 years ago. They would have a fighting chance if the quality were upheld. But alas, these restaurants have declined during that time, or at least the ones I have visited are on their way downhill. This establishment seems to reflect that general malaise that is characteristic of the chain. The menu offers a few interesting options but the quality of the fare is less than satisfying. On our last visit at the dinner hour, there were four in our party. The four entrees included the Hearty Harvest omelet, the Spinach and Mushroom Skillet, the Chopped Cobb Salad and the Southwest Avocado Salad. The Skillet was pretty good and the Cobb salad and the omelet were OK. The fruit accompanying the omelet was nothing to write home about. The Southwest salad featured shamefully dark avocados and was, in general, unappetizing. One thing that Perkins still does well is baked goods. My wife had a cinnamon roll and was pretty happy with it. That was one salvaging point. The service was decent. Our server did a credible job and kept up decently with our drinks. I cannot complain about this aspect of our visit. Part of my displeasure was what we spent on our meals. With food, drink, tax and tip, the final cost for the two of us was $36. That meal was not worth $18 per person. For that sort of outlay, I would have liked to have had something a little more special, or memorable, or at least satisfying. I did not feel as though we got our money's worth. This was my third or fourth visit to this restaurant. I have had better experiences for breakfast as I think they do that meal much better. This may have been my last visit for lunch or dinner. read more

Apparently, this location is a hit or miss. Last time I was there, everything was great. I even recommended it to others. This time - nothing was good. Ordered the same thing as last time - Country Omelet with home fries and a muffin. Today at 9:00 am they were already out of the mammoth muffins, which was a big disappointment. I had to go with pancakes which turned out to be the only thing I found somewhat edible. My order was served very cold and cold food is not what you expect to be served when you go out to eat. Amazing food and amazing service. We went as a family, group of 10, for brunch and had the best meal. Our server, Tiffany, was attentive and fast. She was warm, personable, and pleasant. Everyone enjoyed their food. There wasn't a person at the table that didn't clean their plate. We had breakfast and lunch options at our table and every plate was cooked to perfection. Then menu was easy to read and not overcrowded. The restaurant was big and had plenty of space. It wasn't too loud and it was very clean. The staff are wearing masks. Some patrons wore masks and some didn't. There is plenty of parking here too and it's located right next to the highway. They have a great dessert menu as well. The mammoth muffins are just that. They are huge and all looked so delicious. I couldn't get one because I was already stuffed. When I come back to town I'd love to come here again. I truly enjoyed my experience. read more

We have been eating here every weekend for the last 6 months or so. Our experience overall has been great. The food comes out hot and fresh. Never had to wait longer then 10 mins to be seated no matter what time of morning we go. What makes the experience the best is the waitress Karen. She is why we keep coming back and now we even request to be seated in her section. She is always so positive and happy. She has always gotten our order correct . She always pays attention to detail. I am sorry to only give them one star but, that is being generous. We stopped for a quick dinner before going to a play. We arrived at about 5:30pm to a nearly empty restaurant. We had to actually shout to get someone to come from the kitchen to seat us. The service was beyond slow. When the food did finally arrive my husband's fish was dry and overcooked. To make matters worse he had ordered it with cajun seasoning which they forgot. The waitress brought some out in a cup for him to sprinkle over the dry fish. We were now running late so I asked for a take out box to take mine with me. She forgot to bring the box so I had to leave my meal there. My husband's meal was comped but that really doesn't make up for the poor service or overall performance. The food received bears no resemblance to the food pictured in the menu. I ordered a Southwest Chicken Salad which in the menu distinctly said, "Leafy Greens," and was pictured with a nice assortment of lettuce. Instead, it was a bed of iceberg...basically turned out to be a garden salad with chicken. Additionally, They were out of nearly everything in the Bakery which was odd for Saturday AM. Let me balance the reviews out. We have been to this Perkins many times. They are one place that remains open later at night, when so many other restaurants in our area begin to close disappointingly early, even on Fridays. We have never had the kind of inordinate delays several reviewers have complained about. The service has been generally prompt; maybe not lightning fast, but reasonably prompt nonetheless. The hostesses have been quite gracious, and most importantly, the food has been excellent acoss the board (both portions and quality). I notice these days they have an expanded menu. The menu is overall diner-style, but they consistently provide excellent food. I would not consider them overpriced by any means, given some of the pricing at other sit-down restaurants. I rate this Perkins quite high, and wish them continued good business. read more

I recently visited this Perkins on a busy Sunday morning after church. I was skeptical because the parking lot was jam packed, but I was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by a friendly face, sat quickly, and received our drinks in a quick fashion. The food turned out excellent- the eggs in a hole are fantastic! Told the waitress, and the manager comes to the table ( dressed in a dirty nike Shirt and swishy pants) and asks me if I ever tried broasting the eggs... It's New Year's day, we stopped at another restaurant for a late breakfast and the wait was more than we cared for, so off to Perkins we went. When we entered into the lobby we were pleasantly surprised that no one was waiting at all, we were promptly seated. It was fairly crowded but nothing overwhelming, there were open tables and there seemed to be an ample amount of servers, we thought that we had lucked out and would get our food pretty quickly.....it was a nice thought. We sat for quite some time before our hostess came back over and took our drink order, then another few minutes passed before we received them and said that our server would be with us shortly, this is where our frustration really began. I think we sat for about 15 minutes before our orders were even taken and this was only the beginning. Once our orders were in I really think our server forgot about us, we did see her a few times in the 30 minutes or so we waited for our food and not once did she give us an update on why it was taking so long, she didn't even see if we needed anything while we waited, my water glass sat empty and on the edge of the table until we left. During this time I watched her wrap silverware, talk to other customers, etc, not once did she check up on us. Our food finally did arrive about 30-40 minutes after we ordered, the food was really pretty good for this type of chain establishment, no complaints about the food at all, so what happened next kind of surprised us. When we finished eating our server took the food away and brought us the check, she informed us that she had taken my wife's food off the bill because some of it was burnt and that no one should have to eat food cooked like that, we had never even complained about it actually, very strange. When I paid the bill our hostess asked the canned "so how was everything?" question, I replied that it was painfully slow and that the service was horrible, she seemed a little offended that I had given her an honest answer (and left a very small tip), don't ask unless you're ready for the truth and then know how to respond to and resolve a customer complaint, she totally failed at this. This could have been an opportunity for them to make things right and earn my future business but instead I will go elsewhere even if the line is much longer. Another example of a customer service failure, I gave it two stars instead of 1 because the food was decent but we will never be back. read more

Just finished breakfast at Perkins. Husband had free birthday breakfast called Magnificent Seven with 3 pancakes, 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon. I had toast, egg and bacon. I would give them zero stars, but I cannot the service was horrible sent food back just to get it wrong again. While we did eat the food because it took them 45 minutes to get out food originally we ate it anyways and couldn't complain about the food because the server had disappeared. We got the bill and the food was put in wrong, thus the reason why the food kept coming out wrong. We then went to pay the bill and complain about the bill the manager on staff told me that we had to complain before hand and couldn't do anything about it because it's "company policy" that we had to complain prior. I told her that seemed like a dumb policy and I would like something done to my bill. She kept saying sorry, but basically blaming us for not complaining earlier. I asked her where our server was at and she told me that she was on break, and I said I don't understand what she is breaking for since she or anyone in the place are not doing their jobs.
