After not using this business for so long, things weren't the same. Liked what I said at the beginning, they had a large section and selection of cakes. I unfortunately saw only a few of them. None of them truly appealed to me so I was forced to opt for some gelato. Young people in their late teens were mostly in charge the front. They were all polite and respectful to me. A few of them assisted me to give me samples of a few different types. I didn't need a huge cup of ice cream (I mean gelato) so I kindly and politely asked them if they could mostly give me the cake batter kind with a hint of coffee one on top. They usually don't do this as the smallest cups can only fit one scoop of one flavor. They made an exception for me. Hopefully I wasn't too difficult. My tiny and modest gelato was creamy and well made. As a matter of fact it was quite amazing. And the size small was indeed just the right amount (I am older now; gotta watch how I eat!!) The shop is impeccably almost always clean. The decors match the shop's theme. I am glad that I made a quick stop this afternoon.

If I could rate just the staff at First Watch, they would earn a solid five (5) stars! Helpful, Kind, always trying to go above and beyond to ensure a guest is happy. I experienced this kind of service first-hand from the moment we walked in and were greeted with a great smile, the hostess set the expectation of our wait time and I observed the host staff greet everyone the same way. They also help to accommodate those that may have limited walking abilities. While being kind may be a given with their job, not all restaurant host staff's are like this, and it was nice to witness and experience. Our waiter and previous waitresses were also helpful and helped to make our experience great, but you could easily see how overwhelmed they are and that they are trying to do their best given the amount of people that they help and serve. Here is what wasn't so great, the kitchen staff is slow and the food ordered is not consistent. We have visited First Watch on three (3) different occasions, while the food was extremely tasty once served, it actually took two out of the three occasions of sending the food back to remake the meal. The first meal tried was the BLT Benedict. When it first arrived, it was cold...not room temperature, but cold. You can tell that it had been cooked and left out and forgotten until it was brought to our table. While this could have been caused by a few different reasons, ultimately the attention to detail was not there and this plate should not have been served. I look to the Kitchen staff to lead this initiative as the wait staff was extremely busy (we had gone on the weekend), and the kitchen staff knows how long an item has been left on the pass. During our third visit, we ordered the BLTE Sandwich and the Elevated Egg Sandwich. The Elevated Egg Sandwich was delicious (see picture)! It was hot, fresh, gooey and fabulous! The BLTE on the other hand was cold, the bacon limp, and the piece of cheese was added on as an after thought - cold, not melted or even warm. Now, you may envision a basic BLT sandwich with toasted bread and warm/melted cheese if you decide to add it. First Watch BLTE's bread is not toasted, so if you desire that, definitely ask them to do it. They are more than accommodating when asked, but you need to ask. Unfortunately, the BLTE sandwich was sent back to crisp up the bacon, remake the egg, because it was like ice, and melt the cheese. Again, our waiter was more than accommodating, but even if we put the coldness of the food aside for a moment, the wait time for your food can be a wait...25-40 minutes we waited for our food once ordered. This was disappointing. Most can understand that when you go to any restaurant on a weekend, especially a breakfast establishment, you anticipate the wait and you show some grace. However, 25-40 minutes I feel was too long and it does explain why the food received was cold. Drinks: We ordered the following: - Pineapple Express with the booster - delicious every time ordered, refreshing! - Mimosa - Vodka Kale Tonic - this may sound like a crazy combination, but it was good and a terrific way to get your Kale :) Side Orders: - Blueberry Pancakes (good) - Chicken Sausage Patties (good alternative to Pork sausage) - Lemon dressed organic mixed greens (fresh, good) - Mixed seasonal fruit (fresh, good) Recommendation: - Retrain or train your kitchen staff in some time management techniques. Such a high-pressure environment requires all of the kitchen team to know what to do first and how long to stay in each task. This is a highly valued skill. - Help your wait staff with managing their workload. They are overwhelmed and it has been apparent on the three occasions we have been in. Let them know that it is okay to ask for help. It is far better to do this than deliver poor service. - Overall, communication. As a leader or manager it goes beyond stating an expectation for your team. Effective and consistent communication can help the team work together more seamlessly during their busy and/or chaotic shifts. Additional training and increased communication will not only help the dynamic between wait staff and the kitchen team, but also will help you understand what's really going on in your restaurant, whether it has to do with your guests, employees, or anything else. And when you're communicating well with your team, it's also easier to get them to stay with you. read more

Oh how I miss our local Egg & I that was taken over by the big corporate First Watch - they changed inside which i used to love was so cheery with yellow and photos etc now its dark and all opened up - the service was just ok not very friendly - the coffee was good (used to love Egg and I having 4 different kinds of coffee) here just one - but its way overpriced for eggs and one piece of toast!! Their menu is eclectic and not just normal breakfast stuff but all this food with strange ingredients for breakfast -- just want a great old fashion breakfast instead of thick bread with no taste barely toasted and only one slice - breakfast for 2 was $35 and thats just way too much! We waited for the new First Watch to open and was extremely disappointed with service and food. Ordered biscuits and gravy which came with thick brown gravy and hard biscuits. Could not finish this terrible dish. Wife ordered soup that did not look or smell right...she got sick at home and spent hours in the bathroom trying to throw up.
