    Avocado toast was delicious!
    Chelsi U.

We came here Sunday morning for brunch. We checked in and sat down. We were told it was going to be about 30 minutes. We kept seeing people walk in and be seated so I asked about it. Apparently you can check in online and show up and it s basically your turn to be seated. We wished we did that and I will be doing it next time. The man checking folks in decided to seat us and we got a sweet corner spot. For the food, we ordered the lemon blueberry cornbread, I got the Mediterranean steak skillet and my man got the BEC with fruit to share. My skillet was delicious! The flavors were so good. My eggs were cooked perfectly medium. The fruit was very fresh. The pineapple was sweet and delicious. The BEC was...greasy. Even my man had a hard time eating it. I took one bite and decided it was not for me. He ended up deconstructing the sandwich to make it less greasy and ate what he could. I also ordered the kale tonic which was always good. Our server was super sweet. We always enjoy our time here even though one choice maybe didn't turn out.

Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Bacado, Double Bacon Parmesan Hash

You know for the area I don't think you could really beat this spot. We had we had the avocado omelette, the lemon ricotta, pancakes, and the seasonal double bacon Parmesan hash. I thought all the items were good, in fact, probably better than a lot of the other places that I've tried in the area. I think the best thing that we got was definitely the double bacon Parmesan hash it was salted a little bit on the heavier side, but it actually won't all the other items. I really liked the little bacon mix that added savory into the entire dish. Combine with the potatoes, egg and arugula, it actually balanced out decently well. I did not expect this quality from a chain restaurant and this was my first time trying first watch and I was not disappointed at all. Tell them ricotta pancakes were good, but I think the lemon cream was a little bit of the sweeter side so if you have a sweet too, if you definitely would like it I didn't really taste the ricotta inside the pancake, although it was nice how they actually infused it into the pancake rather than just sprinkling it on top. I was actually trying to get the cinnamon pancakes that were seasonal, but unfortunately, they ran out of the cinnamon chip pancakes, so I had to get these, but it wasn't that bad. The lemon was tart but honestly more sweet than tar depend depends on your preference. I like it a little more tartar but if you like sweet stuff, you definitely will like it. Lastly, the Bacon avocado omelette was not bad. It actually was lack a little bit of flavor in the omelette itself, and the toast on the side was basic toast. I didn't really expect too much. It was kind of plain multigrain bread with just a little bit of butter. The potatoes, though were actually quite nice. I really liked how one side was fried while the rest was soft and had a soft crunch. I never had a hash like that but now that I tasted it, I don't think I prefer hash in any other way. I'd rather have it this way than completely fried or shredded and it gives a little bit of variety in soft or crunchy textures. Service was definitely great. The waiter checked on us very often sometimes too often but I rather have that than the other way around that was very good. It was definitely crowded even though we came on a Monday. Can't imagine this place in the weekends. I'm sure you'll be booked so maybe if you can make a reservation I would highly recommend it or arriving early to get a seat before you are able to dine in. The honey caramel latte was definitely on the sweeter side so if you don't like sweeter drinks definitely get the regular iced coffee. I found that to be also a little bit on the sweeter side as well so maybe ask for less sugar if you like your coffee really really unsweet.

Sorry. I was hungry forgot to take a picture

Our waitress Hannah was great. Our food was delicious. I had The Works omelet and it was loaded, very good. The seasoned potatoes some was burnt and the onions were burnt, could have been a little better. The staff greeted us and was very pleasant. Our experience was very good.

Great first watch location. Came in randomly for a party of 12 and was accommodated and seated within 20 minutes. They had 2 servers helping us out to ensure easy splitting of bills and no long waits. The shrimp and grits were on the summer menu and was delicious, little to many onions though. All in all a great experience

Took forever to be greeted when I first sat down, but overall Great service, my server Leilani was very kind and helpful, she came to check in on me with a smile

Amazing place, everything is so good here. Food taste fresh and good quality. I tried a couple of different things here and I yet have to find something not good. The latest dishes were the summer special shrimp and grits (should I mention I usually don't like grits?) and the chickichanga which was sort of a breakfast burrito wrapped in a delicious tortilla.

This place was recommended by a coworker and I'm so glad I went! Ordered: Kale Tonic 10/10 1/2 Chicken Avocado Chop Salad 10/10 1/2 Ham & Gruyere Melt. 10/10 The melty cheese on the toasted bread was chef's kiss. I couldn't put it down. The kale tonic was so tasty that you feel better immediately. I will be back to try more menu items, I already have the next three visits picked Great service and they have their own cookbook for sale up front

Excellent meal as usual service was great, vibe is always great. The website "Get in line" feature is so handy allows time to look and smell like $100 bucks and make it on time. Eat Local support your city commerce.

Took my son and his girlfriend here for breakfast. It was great to get a table outside right away, especially considering that the wait for a table inside was about 45 minutes. We ordered a bacon appetizer/shareable to start with. Unfortunately, it never arrived. I had the Avocado Toast and recommend it. I added Feta to the toast... it was tasty. The avocado was fresh and ample. I highly recommend trying it with a feta add-on. With the creamy avocado, the salty feta is really delicious. It comes with two eggs which I asked for over medium and they came over easy so I did not eat them. My son had an omelette stuffed with lots of things, and he really enjoyed it. He ordered gluten-free bread and they sent regular bread. By the time they brought the gluten-free bread, everybody had cleared the plate and we were paying the bill. His girlfriend ordered a breakfast sandwich with bacon and cheese - she enjoyed it. It was. Huge sandwich on brioche. The portions were ample. My son has a large appetite and his omelette with the potatoes on the side really filled him up. Even without the eggs, the avocado toast was delicious and I was full. The ambience inside had a slight nautical vibe. Very appropriate for the area. Lots of wood, etc. The staff there was quite busy. That's understandable since school starts tomorrow in Newport News is flooded with families and students. I don't know if the busyness of the day caused the bacon to be forgotten, the toast, to be incorrect, and the eggs to be cooked incorrectly, but that is why I gave three stars. They have a juice bar and lots of healthy options on their menu, including coconut milk yogurt with granola, fresh fruits, and more. They have three different kinds of Benedicts to choose from, omelettes, etc ... they do offer a full bar as well so if you're interested in brunching, and having a bloody Mary, Mimosa, or some other adult beverage with your meal it's a good "go to" place. Parking was pretty scant surrounding the restaurant directly but there's plenty of parking close by. I would certainly try it again with my family when we're in town visiting my son.

Hold the heck up!!!!!…read more WOW. Listen, I really don't give 5 star reviews very often, but Cork and Crust definitely earned it! I came here with a friend after a random Trader Joe's excursion and we were hungry, looking for food that was in the area at ~8:30pm. Boom, enter Cork and Crust (thanks, Yelp!). I will tell you that the location is a bit small, and seating may be a bit tight depending on how many you have in your party and how much food you're ordering. However, there were two of us and we sat at a 2-seater in the back of the restaurant, both ordering pizzas and drinks, and we were fine! We were able to sit wherever we wanted (it wasn't busy, just a few folks in at the time), and the staff was SO SO SO friendly and accommodating. Big time family vibes. Promise and Trish took care of us (and our shenanigans) for the evening, and they were so great! We were so conflicted (mostly my friend LOL) on what to order, so we had lots of questions and just general foolishness. The ladies were so helpful (especially Promise) in literally pulling up a chair and sitting down with us to discuss the menu and answer all of our questions. We ended up ordering the lamb sliders for our appetizer (came with 2), and they were so so good (I am not a lamb fan), although just smidge moist (you have to eat them fast so the meat doesn't soak through the toasted brioche bun). We also both ordered a drink (that I literally cannot remember the name of - Flying Dutchess??? IDK! Don't be mad with me! LOL). But it was somehow like a lemon ricotta cheesecake, but in a cocktail. I can't explain it to you, but you should try it. SO SMOOTH (also from a person who does not like alcohol). It's like a vanilla, earl grey, lemon vibe and it is such an interesting drink with a smooth transition through flavors. 10/10. I ordered the Bianca 5- 'The Anthony Bourdain' Pizza (sub the mortadella because I don't eat pork, with pineapples), and let me tell you somethingggg! That dang gone pizza was SO GOOD. My friend ordered the Bianca 10 (I didn't try this but she said it was delicious). My friend was so impressed by the food and just the experience overall that she asked the ladies if she could talk to the Chef, so he came over (very nice and humble human), and he explained a bit about how they design the menu and what kind of foods they use. So interesting and honestly just such a cool vibe. I will also offer that the restrooms are gender-neutral and clean! They also have baby changing stations in them, and they have feminine products as well (how considerate!) I will DEFINITELY be back here because this place was just so cool. I really enjoyed it, and this is also coming from a person who would NEVER choose pizza as a first option for food! I intend to check out some of the pastas on the next visit!

They have individual lights creating an intimate vibe with various small plants decorating the restaurant (at least by the kitchen where we were seated). It's a nice date place and patrons were a little more dress up them jeans and tees. Our waitress was friendly and check on us. She cleared the extra glassware and plates when we placed our order as we didn't get wine or pizza so wouldn't need the preset plates. They have a full bar with various craft cocktails. Dinner entrees ranged from $18-32 a person and the presentation and flavors were good. Entrees don't come with salad or bread which could cost an extra $8-12. For that price point, I would think a salad or bread would be included. The portions won't leave you hungry but you aren't likely to have leftovers to take home.

I found this place in yelp and wanted to give it a try. It's in a small strip mall and at first we were afraid they weren't there anymore because there isn't a marquee sign above the restaurant but there is a large smoker truck that looks like it's used for catering that helped us find it. The parking lot was full which blocked the signage on the doors/windows. The inside has a few small tables and a counter to the right to order from with the kitchen behind. There was a few chairs across from the counter to wait for to go orders. You choose your own table after ordering. The owner was personable and chatting an older gentleman that had been there awhile. We later realized he was the owner when he came out to see how our food was. The ribs fell off the bone and the baked beans had ground beef and some peppers. They were delicious and had such good flavor. Rolls were served with the meals. The portions were large and we took home our leftovers. I was a little surprised that our food was served in to go containers even though we asked to dine in. You pick up your own plasticware at the counter where you pick up your order. While it's not a typical sit down place with table service or bar drinks, the food was really good and hot. We'll definitely go again. Also love that it's veteran owned and he's present and cares about the service provided. It was also evident he cares about his staff as we overheard them discussing one of the kids preparing for high school graduation.
