Super impressed with this one! When you walk in, it seriously feels like you stepped into a 90s movie diner, and I'm here for it! They were voted Best Burger in Newport News, so my expectations were pretty high. They absolutely did NOT disappoint. I ordered a plain cheeseburger with grilled onions and bacon, along with the chili cheese fries. BEST MEAL I'VE HAD IN A WHILE! The burger was fresh, juicy, and exactly what I was craving. Everything came out super fast and tasted fresh. You order at the counter when you walk in, and if you're dining in, they bring your food out to you. Super easy and efficient. It does get crowded though. They also had a little market where they sell ice cream, pie, jerky's, snacks. I really wanted to try their soft serve too, but by the time we finished eating, there was a HUGE line, so I'm kind of sad I didn't get to try it. Based on what we had and the speed of food delivery, I'd give Farmer's Table on Warwick 4/5 stars. We had four burgers, a chili dog, and tater tots. I think the tater tots were my favorite part - they were the perfect crispness. Burgers were delicious but messy, especially when your kids don't understand how to eat a burger with the paper wrapped around it so the toppings don't drip out and fall apart. The grease didn't soak through the buns like other people talked about, but it definitely had some liquid coming off. Still, delicious! There were a lot of people in line to order when we got there, and we were worried it would take a long time, but the orders were coming out pretty rapidly and we didn't wait too long. They do have some coloring books and a puzzle to keep little kids entertained while waiting, which was much appreciated. They also have a small farm shop in the next room with various items for sale. Overall, we would come back to support the farm-to-table concept, but not necessarily because of the food. read more

5/3/2025 Food was pricey for mid flavor - over $50 for 2 burgers and 2 drinks and 1 fry 1 o rings. all the good stuff was a add-on, as it should be for some things. the desserts were disgusting. they actually served us moldy cake. when pointed out, they laughed. we took pics through the case and they pulled the cake away and told us to leave. we trashed it all and left. if that is the cleanliness and attitude of the staff, wont ever come back. I rank my decisions to eat somewhere again as: 1 star - if someone else buys it I won't eat it, I would rather go hungry. 2 star - if I'm hungry, no other options are open and someone buys it - I would consider eating it 3 star - I'm ok with eating it as long as someone else pays 4 star - I will eat again and pay for it and be a semi-regular customer 5 star - I will travel for good food and pay good money and be back on a regular basis and maybe even pay for yours just so we can go read more

We would rate our experience at Farmers Table of Newport News a 4/5. Customers order at the outdoor checkout window, then can choose to sit either inside or outside. The burger and shake were our favorite parts of the meal, though the bun was a little soggy and the fries portion was pretty small. Well our first visit to NN Farmer's Table and I will say we left very happy. Now I will tell you it was very hard to break our habits because just a few miles away is another great burger joint, which has been our go to place when in NN. But today we said we have to try a new place. Service & Ambiance: A really nice place and although it's winter - it does have a really decent outside area. As for the inside, they had have several tables available. Place seemed clean and well kept. Our server seemed to be doing everything. She took our order, rang us up, got our drinks and then brought our order to our table. She really did a great job. The burger and fries were very good and had a bunch of flavor. Full with onions, a large tomato slice and a nice bun. The burgers appeared to be flame broiled and had a wonderful backyard grill flavor. Total cost for a single with fries, dbl with fries and two drinks - about $37. So I will say now I'm torn that I have not one but two great burger joints in the area. This place surprised me, went here on a whim with the whole family of seven. I forgot to take pictures as I had low expectations and soooo kids to manage. I should have took photos as the food was surprisingly good. The ordering outside concept it a bit different but once inside out of the heat, it has a great little market attached to it. One of the better burgers I have had and I liked the fame to table style concept. My wife got the bbq sandwich, she wanted hot sauce for it but there wasn't available. That is about the only thing I would fix, the kids loved their food even if it was only burgers and Mac and cheese. We will go back again and get pictures next time. read more

Farmer's Table shares a common wall and parking lot with Port Arthur Chinese Restaurant on Warwick Avenue, Newport News. In good weather their outdoor patio looks like a great place to sit down and enjoy your All American burgers, fries and shakes. In colder seasons their indoor facilities are countrified and comfortable for those purists who choose to eat on premises to have their food right off the grill or deep fryer when they are at the peak of flavor. Apparently, their ice cream and soft serve are also noteworthy. I did takeout, and thought something was lost in the time it took to get home. The cheeseburger was still hot, juicy and delicious, but the fries had lost their crispness and were over salted. Similarly, my vanilla soft serve had partially melted and separated into a sweet cool slurry and a still composed core that had much less of the expected taste. Definitely eat right there to maintain maximum enjoyment. Service was friendly and welcoming with beautiful smiles all around. Next to Port Arthur's this is a cute little place. Parking is not an issue. You place your order at a window, and they bring the food to you be it inside or outside. On my visit I sat outside on as nice a spring day as it ever gets here. Now the double cheeseburger was just the bomb, seriously it was crazy good. My fries were warm and golden and not greasy nor pummeled with salt so they were just great. I got a small butterscotch shake, and it was crazy smooth, not frozen and the perfect end to this meal. My son and I only got burgers, fries and onion rings but everything was cooked to perfection. Burgers were well seasoned, perfect crust on the outside but still super juicy on the inside. Onion rings were crispy and not overly greasy. The staff was so nice, the girls working were not playing any games lol. They were slinging these orders out with the quickness! What's not to love about Farmer's Table?...Unless it's 95 degrees out and you can't get an indoor table Seriously, the food was great! Only problem with this restaurant is far too few tables. I can tell it's a popular spot for lunch, but they need to utilize the space more efficiently and provide more seating. There was a perfectly good bar right next to the counter where you order. The problem was it was being used to display baskets of snacks that probably aren't even sold very often. So in my opinion they could bring in a few bar stools and open up that as a seating option. There was also a huge room adjacent to the dining area that probably could have about three or four small tables. Anyway, the burger and tater tots were good. Burger was slightly on the greasy side. I did end up sitting outdoors for about 5 minutes, but I got sick of swatting away flies so I just took my meal to my car and finished it there. read more

So I ordered a meal with a shake through DoorDash. There is an option on there if you would like it to be a combo with fries and a large shake. It does not give you the option to choose the shake if you do it that way. I've done it plenty of times in the past and usually they'll ask the Dasher to get in contact with me and see what flavor I want. Well this time the lady decided she was just gonna choose for me and when the Dasher told her that I wanted a chocolate shake, she said "well she already made it." and then had him the shake that was not chocolate. Sophia and I dined in for lunch 2 weekends ago at this spot in Newport News. This is actually our 2nd time here. 2 years ago, we ordered takeout as part of Newport News Restaurant Week ordering meals for $15. Both of us enjoyed our selections. So it was long overdue for another visit. Let's see how it turned out. For ordering, we placed our orders outside at the window before heading inside. Usually for the lunch crowd, they are packed liked the time we came for takeout. Luckily, there were plenty of seats for the taking. Everything has been well kept and spotless. The decor....very hip. Just like last time, I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich combo with fries and water for my beverage instead of a shake. And it was as good as the 1st time I tried it. The chicken was well cooked and not dry. And they didn't skimp on the sauce not toppings. The fries were pretty crunchy. Only mild complaint was the fries did have a bit too much seasoned salt, but everything was good nonetheless. Sophia had two hot dogs with fries and enjoyed her meal. It's an order at the counter & wait for your number to be called restaurant. There's limited seating inside but also some outdoor seating. Compared to the Smithfield location, this one is a work in progress but the food is just as good! I ordered the Farmhouse Burger with a basket of Fries. It was juicy, flavorful, & cooked perfectly. The fries were crispy & lightly seasoned to perfection. I highly recommend their hamburgers. As for desserts, their waffles cones are my favorite. It's on Warwick and if you're coming from Harpersville, make sure you pay attention because it's right across the street, but you still have to make a left then a quick right. It has a nice outside patio, which is very good for the spring, however, there is no covering so be prepared for sunlight. The inside is a decent size and there is a little store attached. They have many homemade desserts, fresh eggs, and other goodies. I got the chicken sandwich, fries, and a cake batter milkshake.
