My husband chose Mission BBQ for dinner tonight (he always leans toward BBQ or fried chicken). We were greeted with friendly smiles as soon as we walked in. I went with the brisket platter, paired with coleslaw and fries, while he ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The brisket was tender, juicy, banging and consistently delicious every time I come here at this location. The coleslaw didn't have much flavor, but the fries were hot, crispy, and so good. I also tried a bite of the pulled pork sandwich it was tasty, especially with a little BBQ sauce on top. Mission BBQ never disappoints for a quick, satisfying meal!

I have been to Mission BBQ quite a few times, and decided to review. I also have a bit of a rant I will save for the end, after I tell you what is good. First of all, the food is good. A bit pricey, but likely worth the price. There are more than a few types of meat and several sauce on the table. Sides go well with bbq, including mac and cheese, baked beans, green beans, fries. Portions are quit large! The corn bread is tasty enough. Seating is generous with large booths and tables. Drinks are self serve and unsweet tea is nicely brewed. There did not appear to be any children's menu to order from but they did offer a small drink option. I just gave the kids some of mine and ordered what turned out to be a huge side of fries. Mission BBQ's entire schtick is honoring the military and first responders. The place is decorated like a military themed Cracker Barrell where the guys from American Pickers unloaded more than a few old vets' hoards. A huge American Flag hangs in the center, to which all eyes are turned to sing the National Anthem at exactly noon each day. You can be mid bite and you are peer pressured into standing for the canned rendition complete with horn freestyle. I spent 40 years in the military and working with veterans. I am a disabled veteran myself. Never in all of my assignments was I required to stand in a non military off base entity in the middle of my lunch. I despise this because the ONLY reason Mission BBQ is doing this is to pander to the 'patriotic thank you for your service types' to make more than a few bucks. Complete shilling of forced patriotism for profit. If I eat there I stand outside until the forced production is completed and people can get back to their now a bit colder food. Mission BBQ, I see you and I see your lone 'Parking for Veterans Only' in front of the entrance. Do you know in our military and veteran inundated community how many qualify for your token parking space? I can overlook your decor as what it is, a hodge podge of miscellaneous militaria. I cannot accept your "Please stand for the National Anthem" at noon each day, while you sit in your office counting your money.

Wow! The portion sizes are huge at Mission BBQ. During our most recent visit, we ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich with a side of baked beans and iced tea, plus a brisket sandwich with a side of coleslaw. The Pulled Pork overflowed from the bun -- in a good way. Both sandwiches were delicious. In the past we've had their platters with corn bread, and they were very good too. They offer unsweetened iced tea (with fresh lemons!) and sweet tea, plus lemonade as well as soft drinks. The service is so friendly. While it's a counter service restaurant, they even had someone come around to check on us and offer samples. The interior of the restaurant is military themed -- Mission BBQ -- with photos, patches, challenge coins, and more. It has an authentic gritty feel that appreciates the dedication and sacrifices of service members. Parking is free.

We go out of our way to go to this location! The management and staff are awesome. Mission BBQ has become our favorite above all other BBQ. Make sure you join for their awesome deals and come back often!

My husband and I visited Mission BBQ for lunch one weekday with my family while visiting the area for Christmas. I'd never eaten at Mission before, but I'll definitely be a repeat customer based on this visit. My husband ordered the brisket plate, and I had the salad with chopped pork. The brisket was unbelievably tender and juicy -- it was the best we've had at a casual restaurant. The cornbread was sweet and served nicely warmed, but the fries could have been a bit crispier. My salad was nicely made, and a very large serving. I couldn't believe how much pork they added on top, too! The pork was so tender and juicy. It was so much better than Midwood Smokehouse or any other local establishment in Charlotte. What's really great about Mission is that they are a patriotic business. My sister-in-law told me that every day at noon, the staff pledge allegiance to the flag during the national anthem. We just missed it on our visit, but I'd love to be around for this in the future. We don't visit the NN area more than a few times a year, but we'll definitely be back!

I've been going to Mission BBQ quite some time and the food never disappoints. I had gotten the pulled pork platter with fries and corn bread. It has exceeded my expectations from eating there quite a few times. The staff working that night was amazing and friendly from the minute we walk-in the door. The atmosphere of that was knowing that there is a place that supports the military and first responders. I will continue going there and giving my support.

I looked at the reviews and knew I had to give it a try. When we arrived, my wife and I were quickly seated by the Host. And then we waited. And waited. About 10 min later, I told the Host that we had not seen a waitress yet. He was apologetic and promised to find them for us. A few minutes later, the Waiter showed up and took our orders. I fully planned to order the beef ribs, but the cost of $38 was so far outside the norm that I just couldn't do it. (They actually have a sampler platter that costs $66!!) I ended up ordering the half BBQ chicken, BBQ beans and potato salad. My wife ordered the pulled pork platter, sweet potato fries and Mac & Cheese. Both orders came out quickly, but the first thing I noticed about my dinner was that I was having to 'saw' my chicken to eat it. Most BBQ chicken I have ordered at other restaurants is tender to falling apart. But this one definitely fought back, and though the flavor was not bad, I kept having to add the table-side BBQ sauce (which was good) to flavor it. The beans were nothing special- they were BBQ beans. Frankly the best part of my order was the potato salad which was quite good - a bit more mayonnaisey than normal potato salad, but I found that I actually liked that aspect of it. A couple of times during the meal, the waiter stopped by to see if we needed anything which was good to see. My wife said her pulled pork was okay but also needed supplemental BBQ sauce. She said the Mac and cheese was good, but that the sweet potato fries were overcooked. She ended up not eating them which is very unusual for her. Towards the end of the meal, I ran out of tea and started looking for the waiter. When he did show up, I asked for a refill. He disappeared for an interminable amount of time and then finally returned with our bill. I was still sitting there with an unfinished meal and an empty glass, and still had to remind him that I still needed a refill, and had been waiting for it for a while. He admitted that he had forgotten it, but then actually sat down next to us, seeming to have problems entering our bill in their handheld 'point of sale' device. I asked him again if he could get my drink first. He finally handed me the device to pay the bill and dashed off. He was gone a while again, with me still waiting on my drink. I finally just gave up finishing the meal without something to wash it down with. The Waiter finally came back with a 'tea to go' for me. Though I had planned to order desert for the two of us, we just paid the bill and left, checking off one more restaurant that does not understand that they are in the food AND customer service business. So again, someone tell me why everyone is giving this restaurant 5-stars.

If they had they would have heard about missing beer menus, dirty/greasy salt grinders, dead flies littering the window sills next to the tables, slow and disinterested service and a seeming lack of interest of the staff in anything but chatting with each other. County Grill in Yorktown has always been one of our go-to restaurants but unfortunately is fell very short today. We got in early, before the afternoon rush, around 3:45 pm. We were seated quickly in a booth along the front windows and our waitress came over and got us started with cornbread muffins and took our drink order. I did ask for the paper beer list that they always have due to their extensive taps but none were available, a first for me. Neither our waitress or the hostess could explain why they didn't have the normal beer list. I ordered a beer and when asked if I also wanted water like my wife, I said yes. My wife's water showed up almost immediately, mine must have been forgotten but thankfully my beer showed up a short time later. We ordered our dinner, a brisket platter with coleslaw and baked beans and my wife ordered pulled pork. We were one of only two tables in the entire main dining room when we ordered and throughout our meal but waited a surprisingly long time for our food to arrive. When it did arrive, the food looked, smelled and tasted great. The brisket I received was from the tail end of the brisket and was very thin compared to slices from the other end of the brisket I've usually received. I still received the same exact number of smaller slices I usually receive from the bigger end. Not all brisket slices are created equal and today's fell short. My wife used the salt grinder on the table and it was dirty and greasy to the point she had to excuse herself to go wash her hands. While she was gone I noticed the collection of dead flies on the window sill along our booth. Things were just dirty, makes you wonder about cleanliness in areas you can't see as a customer. Although there were a lot of staff in the kitchen and in front of the kitchen none seemed interested in anything but chatting with each other. The exception to that would be our waitress who was very interested in talking to the one other occupied table in the dining room. We had finished dinner and were waiting to pay our bill and get a to-go box for some of the coleslaw. Our waitress was deeply involved in a conversation with the other table and we waited an extended period of time. The multitude of other servers in front of the kitchen had no interest in breaking free to see if we needed anything. Finally our waitress made it back over to our table with the electronic payment machine out, handed it off to me and headed off to find a to-go container, even that seemed to take longer than it should have. Maybe Q-Daddy's is worth a try, maybe they still care and want to prove they want your business and not just ride on prior reputation.

I'm just not terribly crazy about the "order at the counter" style of restaurant if I'm going out to eat. But, I belong to a group that decided to meet here for an event, so I ended up giving it another shot. The interior is still cute, and the concept is nice. I like that you can get mini/micro pours of things. I feel like it used to be a set amount, but now you can literally just pour a taste to see if you like it with a micro charge and then add more or move on if you don't like it. That was really useful since I'm not much of a beer drinker - it took me a while to find one I could sip on. I ordered the sliders - now what I thought was cool about this (and again, I don't remember it being this way the last time I was there, but I also ordered whole burgers last time) is that you could customize your sliders. So I was able to order three different sliders which was awesome. I tried the bourbon, the brie, and the shrooms. Of the trio, the bourbon was my favorite and the other two were sort of a toss up second place. They were cooked correctly and hit the spot. Overall, I'd say it was a notch up from my last visit and I'd be willing to try it again if I'm in the mood for some mini burgers!
