If you're going to brunch mid-day on a Sunday you expect to wait, it's normal. Is it normal to wait 40 minutes for a table for 2 at a place as basic as First Watch...I'm not sure about that. They offered coffee during the wait but there were no mugs or cups to be found and the waiting area was so packed you couldn't get it anyway. They do have a text messaging system to alert when your table is done so you can escape the crowd and walk around the area. When we got the message that our table was done we went to the host who seated at a 4 top then moved us to a 2. Our server Natalie came quickly with drinks and was attentive to our needs without being annoying or too much. The real kicker here is how long it took for us to get our meal. I got a waffle with eggs and my partner got soup (which I'm sure is just in a huge pot) and a sandwich. Neither of which should take the hour that it took for us to actually get our food. I understand how crazy the kitchen is and with as busy as it was I know that there were several orders in front of ours but an hour wait for food on top of our 40 minute wait time is just insane. We could've gone to Target purchased all the ingredients and a waffle maker, went home and made the meal ourselves in less time. When we FINALLY got our meal my eggs had a hair in them causing me to have to send them back. I then waited another 10 minutes for a fresh plate, hair free. The food was fine but was tainted by our wasted time and hairy find. Now you would think that restaurants would make paying easy and quick since they want your money....not here. The line to pay was long and taking forever. When we finally got to pay it took 5 minutes because the lady who took our card was now arguing with a couple who had been waiting to be seated and were just told the kitchen was going to close. Where was Carlos the manager through all of this? Who knows! It was such an unprofessional situation and frankly it was terrible customer service not just to us but to the couple who was being turned away. I have never in my life had such a poor experience at a restaurant and from the conversations around me all the other customers were facing the same thing. Shout out to our server Natalie who through it all was calm and nice all the while serving and assisting several other tables.
