Great sushi menu and entrees are always tasty and thoughtful. The most memorable thing of the entire experience is the service. It's impeccable. Water and drinks always timely. Numerous waiters tend to your meal throughout. We had the rainbow roll and artichoke dip to start. The Scottish salmon is a must. French dip sandwich also incredible. This place never disappoints. Bye Bye Houston's Aventura I've been a customer of Houston's Aventura for many years. For a long time, my friends and I used to come here every Friday. Unfortunately, over time the service declined to the point where it felt like they were doing everything possible to make us uncomfortable and rush us out. Eventually, they succeeded -- we stopped coming altogether. After a long break, I decided to give the restaurant another chance today. That was a mistake. I ordered the Hawaiian Ribeye, and when it arrived, the meat was extremely tough. I brought this to their attention, and the manager came over and apologized -- but that was it. No replacement dish was offered, and the item was not removed from the bill. An apology alone does not fix a bad dining experience, especially at this price point. This visit confirmed how far Houston's Aventura has fallen. I live in Aventura, and I constantly hear people talking about how poorly customers are being treated at this location. Based on our experiences, my family and I have decided we will not return. Final thoughts: Houston's Aventura is seriously damaging its reputation. The service and food quality no longer match what this restaurant used to be or what it charges. If you enjoy this style of restaurant, I highly recommend J. Alexander's instead. I had been one other time before this visit and I wasn't to impressed. But the second visit I sat at the bar and Joe I'm convinced. The bartenders are so attentive and delightful. Very Paitent and detailed when explaining dishes and sharing recommendations. It was their recommendation I took from cocktails to food and I was very pleased. I took myself on a solo date and it was so much food for one person. Easily shareable dish. The seasoning on the fries was great. The salad was so refreshing. And the overall attention to detail through the experience is note worthy. They anticipate every need. I got their margarita and Paloma, amazing! I've, We've been coming to Houston's North Miami for many years, but I / We might stop visiting as often and that truly saddens me. Don't get me wrong: the place still has great ambiance and outstanding service. In fact, the service team is the main reason my friends and I have kept coming back all these years. But the food... that's where things have gone downhill. You used to have one of the best New York steaks in town (and I'm not even a big NY steak fan!). Then, some time ago, you made a brilliant move you introduced the Ribeye "Steak and Frites" (an improved version of the Hawaiian) It was, hands down, one of the best ribeyes in Miami. I always ordered it black and blue, and it was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, for reasons none of us can understand, both were removed from the menu. Now we're left with the Hawaiian which I've tried to make work, but it just doesn't, or the filet. Really?? It feels like you're pushing away your loyal steak lovers. I've even heard your neighbor (same parking lot!) is now capitalizing on that, offering better quality cuts. Maybe that's where we'll have to go if we want a great steak again. As for the rest of the menu, it's still good... but not worth coming for. And please, don't get me started on the wine list! I've promoted Houston's many times through my @WineTipss Instagram account for having one of the best, most fairly priced wine lists in Miami. But lately? The Sub-Zero fridges are more than half-empty or filled with uninspired selections. What happened? To the wonderful team, this isn't directed at you. You're the reason we've stayed so loyal. So came for an early dinner with the mom. We went down the sushi route. Our server was super polite and attentive. We both had a drink a lemon drop and Moscow mule( no copper mug ). We stopped in during the middle of lunch, peaking into dinner so the restaurant was not too crowded but not empty. We did not have reservations, although I would recommend making one --- and we were sat instantly. Our waitress (I cannot remember her name) was extremely sweet, welcoming, and polite. I ordered salmon, with the baked potato & my friend ordered the steak. We shared fried oysters, which they do not always have available. I highly recommend asking if they have them. Everything was excellent, my salmon was cooked perfectly, and my friend enjoyed her salmon. I would absolutely revisit and try other options on the menu! read more

This Houston's is located along the bay with a paved sidewalk so that you can go for a stroll along the bay either before dinner or afterwards. It's very relaxing there. We had made reservations at Houston's a week earlier but it took almost 2 hours before we were seated. When we made the reservation at 8:00 pm a week ago, we made it for 2 people but an out of town guest arrived yesterday and we forgot to add her. We arrived at 7:35 pm. We were told we would have a table by 8:30 but we actually weren't seated until 9:40 pm. We left at 11:15 pm! Our server was Charlie and he was friendly, apologetic, and attentive. We ordered the Braised Red Cabbage, the Deviled Egg platter, the Frank family, Grilled Chicken salad, Hawaiian Rib-eye, and French fries. Everything was good except the Deviled eggs and the Cabbage dish didn't taste that good. We also had ordered a Don Julio Blanco and a Don Julio Reposado, which were good. I stuck with cold still water. There was a bronze penguin scultpture by Larry C. Shank near the restrooms with a QR code to information about other artwork by various artists for those interested in the art world. Very disappointing experience. Our group ordered expensive food and had only three drinks each. We were polite and did not create any problems, so we were shocked when the waitress suddenly told us they would not serve us any more drinks. No clear explanation was given. We asked to speak with the manager because this situation felt strange and embarrassing. The manager simply said they had the right to refuse service to anyone. While we understand that restaurants can refuse alcohol service, the way this was communicated felt rude, dismissive, and insulting. This has never happened to us before, and the whole interaction made us feel singled out and uncomfortable. The experience left us questioning whether we were treated fairly. I've been coming here since my teenage days. I love going to the bar for happy hour after a long day. Keep in mind that they sometimes have a waitlist for a seat at the bar if you are also dining. If you are just grabbing a drink you can stand or seat outside in the patio. I ordered the kale salad with chicken this time because my bartender suggested it. It was really good! The bartender was attentive and made my favorite drink a st Germain spritz as I waited for a seat. It took me 45 minutes to get a seat. I recently dined at Houston's Steakhouse located in North Miami Beach Florida off Federal Highway just north of 163rd street. I love the waterfront location on the Oleta River across from Eastern Shores and Sunny Isles Beach. Houston's Steakhouse is a true carnivore's dream and everything you would expect from a top-tier steakhouse. The ambiance was sophisticated and warm, with rich wood accents creating an inviting yet upscale atmosphere--perfect for both special occasions and casual evenings out. While they do ample parking they offer complimentary valet for your vehicle. While we waited for our table, we enjoyed cocktails at the bar where the bartenders were very friendly and made me the most perfect Cosmopolitan, not to sweet and not to dry. When we were seated our server suggested we ordered the Guacamole and Chips that was particularly good and a couple of cheese hamburgers. Instead of having fries we chose to try the "tabbouleh' which is a Middle Eastern salad that is served cold. (It was ok, not my cup of tea) We did save room for dessert, anytime I see Key Lime Pie on the menu it is a must have for me. It may have been the best Key Lime I have ever had, Tart and Tangy with graham cracker crumbles and dollop of whip cream. I was a loyal customer for so many years and always loved Houston's. I was treated so horrible when my 2 year old daughter was with me. The manager was harassing me that my 2 year old needed to sit down; kept coming over to the table over 4 times.... I even asked the table behind us if there was an issue and they said oh no, she was so well behaved. The manager was a little redheaded man with rotten looking teeth. He was so extremely rude, same with Sydney at the front. I think all these bad reviews are all along the same lines And clearly their corporate does not care. If you don't want children in a restaurant, then you need to become a lounge of 21+. Disgusting the food is mediocre at this point and who wants to be around a bunch of managers on a power trip that clearly have nothing else going on in their life. While celebrating my wife's birthday during a difficult family period, a manager named Matt requested my adult son remove his baseball cap for "decorum." We complied immediately without complaint. However, we observed at least three other guests wearing caps throughout our meal--including one worn backward--who were never approached. When we questioned Matt regarding this differential treatment, he cited "medical and religious exemptions" while smirking. His demeanor was mocking and unprofessional; he dismissed our concerns with an insincere attitude that felt targeted and discriminatory. Houston's is a staple and the menu has not changed much over the years. One of the original items on the menu the spinach dip is still just as good as I remember it from many years ago. The burger is on point as is the French dip sandwich. Everything is really good at Houston's and you really need a reservation to get in here. On a Friday or Saturday night it is absolutely packed. One of my go to restaurants. Classy ambiance, always excellent service and great food. Menu is not too extensive, but it has a good variety for all tastes. I usually start with a Grapefruit Aperol Spritz (it is a great variation of the traditional Aperol Spritz), lots of flavor and very refreshing. For an appetizer I love their grilled artichokes (although they have a very short season) and if you like salmon, I highly recommend their smoked salmon appetizer. It is smoked in-house and it is wonderful. And for entree, my 2 favorite ones are: the ahi tuna salad with mango slaw and the grilled ruby trout. This location does not have outdoor seating, but if you want to sit outside by the intracoastal when weather is good, you should try their Pompano Beach location. They have a great deck. read more

I forgot to ask the server the name of the glaze they put on the chicken but it was sweet and savory and just the perfect touch. My boyfriend had the Hawaiian rib-eye and a loaded baked potato. Extremely Disappointed by Racial Profiling I am deeply upset and disappointed by the way my husband and I were treated during our visit. Sydney Edelstein, an employee at this location, made us feel incredibly unwelcome and targeted. Her behavior toward us was dismissive, rude, and made it painfully clear that we were being racially profiled--specifically because my husband is Black. No one should ever feel judged or unwelcome because of the color of their skin. What we experienced was not just poor customer service, it was discrimination. Shame on this business for allowing someone like this to represent them. We will be escalating this to corporate and making sure others are aware. The hostess, named SYDNEY, was cold, condescending, and completely out of touch with reality. I was asked to remove a Christmas light necklace because it was supposedly "offensive to other customers." Let that sink in -- festive Christmas lights. Nothing political, nothing inappropriate, just holiday lights. Instead of handling the situation with any tact or common sense, the hostess made it awkward, embarrassing, and unnecessarily confrontational. There was no attempt to be polite, accommodating, or even reasonable. Just a rigid attitude and an implication that my harmless holiday spirit was somehow a problem. It felt less like fine dining and more like being scolded for existing. If Houston's is so fragile that a light-up necklace ruins the dining experience, maybe the issue isn't the customer -- it's the staff. Hospitality should mean welcoming people, not policing joy. Without intending any disrespect, I never really understood why there are normally always lines of patrons awaiting entrance to Houston's / Hillstone's restaurants. In my opinion everything about the experience there - the menu, the food, the service, the ambiance and the price point is always good, but nothing outstanding - certainly not a dining experience that should command the long wait times for a table that one finds there on a regular basis - which isn't helped by the fact that their restaurants generally don't accept reservations and won't add your party to the wait list until everyone who'll be dining with you has arrived. There are just too many alternative spots available, usually with no wait - but I digress... We arrived to this Houston's location at around 8 on a Sunday night. We checked in with the hostess and were told it'd be about an hour wait for a table for 2. We figured we'd order a cocktail and have a seat at the bar if something there became available in the meantime, but were informed that the bartenders here have their own check-in process and waitlist for customers hoping to sit at the bar. We put our names on that list as well, ordered a cocktail and by the time we'd finished, a few stools had opened up for us. I had the scottish salmon with broccoli and mashed potatoes while my husband had the prime filet. Both our dishes were very good, and service from the bartender/servers was solid throughout our meals. One oddity about this restaurant is that it's right on the water with a view of the city in the background. One would think they'd take advantage of that, open the blinds and allow customers to enjoy that view, but on the night we came, the blinds were all kept closed. read more

Pro tip: always make a reservation or you will find yourself waiting at the bar for a table for 40 min-1 hour max. It usually goes fast, but just a head's up! As far as the drinks, they are always really good and strong too! The crush is one of my favorite cocktails and it has fresh green grapes muddled into it. It tastes good as is, or with tequila instead of the vodka. For food, you have to have the artichokes (when they are in season!). The dip that they pair them with is addicting. Another star appetizer is the obvious spinach and artichoke dip (YUM)! I noticed this location just added the tuna tartare to their main dishes, which could also be a great shared appetizer. Some dishes I love and recommend would be: The grilled chicken salad, Caesar salad, veggie burger, french dip sandwich, rotisserie chicken and Scottish salmon. Used to visit Houston's in Dallas on a regular basis. The food was always top notch, and the service spot on. Although it was always packed, we didn't mind waiting for a meal the was worth the wait. We finally got around to visiting the Houston's in North Miami and can report that like the Dallas Houston's, the place was packed. However, that was the only thing that was the same. The service was slow and the wait staff seemed focused on being anywhere but there. The baby back ribs, which has always been our go-to dish, were dry and tasteless. And the deserts were uninspiring. Upsetting to watch one of the few chains we venture to visit to finally succumb to "chainitis" where music is blaring, service is minimal and food is mundane. Sad to see an old friend pass on but, that's we'll do from now on when choosing a place to dine. read more
