1) A few months ago, me bestoe and I decided to have a late breakfast at the O'Fallon illinois location. We did call ahead. We got there, and the doors were locked. They came to the door said they'd had an emergency (it happens) and we would be last sat. After awhile of waiting, we were served beverages which were not the normal quality. Then the waitress returns and says " you all don't want to eat do you? Well, um , yea, it's a restaurant. Apparently the manager had had a medical issue and the cooks were refusing to cook and the servers were trying to negotiate with them as well as cook. Emergencies are unexpected and understandable. However, they should have just said we can't accommodate you today. 2) Had family in town and it is ou tradition to go to first watch and have breakfast before they leave town. It happened to be mother's day weekend. Because of that, I completed call ahead seating at 930 am expecting there would be a long wait. It quoted me approximately 11:15 am. We were fine with that. At 10:50 I was notified our table would be available soon and to proceed to the restaurant. We checked in at, 11. At 1145 we still hadn't been sat. I approached the hostess stand to inquire and was informed that there were 27 parties ahead of us. TWENTY SEVEN! I don't even think that location had 27 tables. We called ahead and at that moment had been waiting 2 hours and 15 mi. For a table and that was 45 minutes past the time I was ASKED to show up. The response was our app does that. Then, frankly, get a new app. Zero concern or empathy or problem resolution. We went to jersey Mike's instead. read more

Today the food was so bad. I don't recommend getting to-go, they don't seem to care about quality of the food. I ordered the avocado toast and the sunny side up eggs were over done. The market hash's eggs were undercooked and raw. The hash under it had burnt potatoes and burnt bacon. Strange because when we dine in it's always perfection. First time here. Had to wait to be seated no problem but no one served us for 20 minutes. After we ask other waitstaff, our server finally showed up to take our order. She did not know the soup of the day and went to find out and was gone for quite a while. We are 30 minutes in with no beverage, she shows up finish our order. We had been there a hour and they bring my sister her meal. I keep asking anyone of the other servers where my food was. The server said her boss was working on it (it was a half sandwich and soup) when it arrived it was cold. I only got one glass of tea for the hour I waited for food. My sister had to wait for me to finish my meal. No reason was given why I has to wait so long to be served after my sister. Will never go back. read more

love it! the service was great and the atmosphere had a very casual sunday morning vibe. we came around 8:30 before the church rush came 'round so it wasn't terribly busy. i ordered a breakfast hash with potatoes, tomatoes, bacon, cheese, avocado and egg. it was really good! it came with toast and a small fruit cup. i don't think it's necessarily as good as the egg and i was, but it's definitely a solid breakfast spot. read more

This place gets busy, but food always seems to come out too late or the food lacks expectations in presentation. First time in First Watch. The staff was all very friendly, and made great recommendations. I went with the traditional breakfast and my husband had the biscuits and turkey gravy. My son opted for the homemade blueberry muffin. Everything was delicious, including the coffee and delivered quickly. The menu is very fresh, cage free, whole grain etc. and offers gluten free options. The environment was very inviting and friendly. We arrived around 8am so we beat the crowd, but it was getting busy as we were leaving. Likely wise to arrive early. Overall a great experience. Our server Ashley was wonderful. It was a kids pancake, kids French toast, a breakfast Taco and BLT Benedict . All but the BLT Benedict came out at 45 minutes. About 15 minutes later, when everyone was done eating the BLT Benedict came out. Unfortunately, it was cold. There was a massive staff, so I don't understand how everything was so slow. It's easily the best breakfast in town. Staff is always friendly and service is good. It would be 5 stars if they had a better place. Standard strip mall with decent seating...again better than other options in town. In cold months the cold blows in as people open and close the doors. All in all I highly recommend. read more

I have eaten at multiple First Watch locations and have always loved the food and coffee. I was excited when they opened one close to home. That being said, I was super disappointed in the service today. Every staff member was frazzled as they tried to keep up with a busy Sunday morning, starting with the hostess staff. We then sat at our table at least 10 minutes with no water/coffee and no acknowledgement. The 2 waitresses that ended up helping us were super kind, but it was obvious they must've been short staffed or didn't have much help. We were told that our food was running behind, so we didn't eat until about 45 minutes from being seated. (I'm thankful they at least communicated with us about the food running late.) The food also came out in increments, with half the table being served a solid 5 minutes before the other half. My farmhouse scramble was fabulous - the carmelized onions and peppers were cooked to perfection. The toast was perfectly toasted and the compote that came with it was yummy. The pancakes were also great - a large portion with a nice compote for dipping. I wish I could say I will return soon, and if it was about the food alone, I absolutely would, but it was very clear that the service was significantly struggling, and they have lots of kinks to work out before it will be satisfiable for us. We have a toddler, and waiting 45 minutes is not what we would prefer to chance again anytime soon. The food prices are also more expensive ($11.95 for my farmhouse scramble, and $2.95 for coffee). I do hope they figure out their service issues and succeed at this location, but it will take some work! read more

Tuesday afternoon with half of the restaurant empty and waited 45 minutes for food for two. The majority of the restaurant had people sitting at tables with no food. When neighboring table complained the waitress said "I just work here". Food was FAR below First Watch quality, nearly inedible. We usually go to clayton near our friends' house, but that location closed and as far as we knew, this location did not use the Yelp No Wait app. So today, we got here early, got seated right away, and got our food right away. Our server, Sarah, was fantastic. Very attentive and knowledgeable. She's a First Watch veteran, coming from the Kirkwood location. Sarah told us about the First Watch app which uses the "get in line" feature!!!! Life changing!!!! From now on, we'll be sleeping in, using the app to get in line, and coming up to the restaurant when it's time. By the way, avocado toast is fantastic!!! read more

The waiters in there were very fast, and running around a lot. The food was so good, I had lemon ricotta pancakes and they were amazing. I also tried the million dollar bacon absolutely best thing ever. My boyfriend had french toast and they had this blueberry stuff on the side (can't remember what its called) but it was so tasty. Today a friend and I stopped in for a quick lunch and we are both sooo glad we did! As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly host and we were sat within minutes of our arrival. The restaurant was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday and the staff never missed a beat during the mid-morning rush. The service was nothing short of phenomenal and the food was delicious!! I got the Carnitas burrito and oh my gawd. FANTASTIC!! The only downside to our experience is that I can't get to this location more frequently!!! I highly recommend giving it a try! read more
