We take our great-niece there when we babysit her for one day a week. The staff is very freindly. The food is good. You have to pay cash or it costs extra, which is something I'm not fond of, but more and more businesses are doing it now. But I would highly recommend it. It's nice and cozy and it's worth going there and checking it out. I love the coffee too. I believe it's bottomless. read more

Got a very hearty greeting from the waitress as I went to meet with my friends already seated. Typical low key furnished table and chair breakfast place. Food offerings were pretty standard for eggs, pancakes bacon sausage. Omelets were 4 egg and so ample. Many choices for skillets and looked great. Hearty sized meals. No gluten free breads. One at our table ordered choice for peaches for his pancakes and Wawa's charged 3.25 for a sauce sized container! He didn't like the pancake. The server asked if I want anything to drink and I said "an orange juice"... she automatically made it a large OJ which was FIVE DOLLARS FOR CHEAP STORE BOUGHT ORANGE JUICE!!!? I had a side of bacon for $4.95 as well. So when servers do that shady up charge crap, guess what? They get to pay for it with their tip! Don't automatically give someone a $5 cup of Walmart orange juice!!!!!! Server would have had a $3 tip but instead she got none and a one start review. I was at table 17 at 9:40am 4/2/25. Located along the main road through Millstadt, it's easy to find. Parking is plentiful, with spaces adjacent to the building as well as across a traffic lane. Walking in, there is a counter right in front of the door, so it can get crowded there as new customers are entering and others are paying. We were in a larger group and the place was pretty full, but we were seated quickly. Our waitress took our drink orders right away and brought the coffee quickly. Our food took a while to come out, maybe 20-25 minutes. As a larger group, this was not too unexpected, and our waitress kept our coffee cups full. The eggs were cooked as ordered. The hash browns and bacon were both crispy and good. The biscuit was good, but the gravy was just OK. It was fairly bland. Even adding pepper didn't perk it up very much. The rest of the party enjoyed their meals as well. It's great to have a breakfast place like this in Millstadt, and it does a pretty good job filling the gap. read more

This is a bustling diner in a quiet town. It might be a bit out of the way but it's worth a trip. The ambience is exactly what you would expect from a diner. I try to be consistent with breakfast orders when I try a new place - if country fried steak is on the menu it usually is my choice. I was delighted that I did - perfectly crisp breading and not even slightly greasy. The hash browns were the star - I always ask for extra crispy and usually have to settle for slightly browned and limp. These hash browns were CRISPY,GB&D! It's a BREAKFAST place in Milstadt! Yaaaaay!!! Service was AWESOME and quick. Food was very tasty. The prices are reasonable. Just really wish they had breakfast cocktails TOO! I had the Slinger, and my husband went with the lunch special of Chili Mac. The Chili Mac was on spaghetti though, so shouldn't it have been Chili Spag? Went out to try Clara B's for breakfast. Bad luck, the kitchen was closed. Our Yelp friend who lives in Milllstadt, IL suggested that we go to Sunrise Bakery in Millstadt. Off we went. There were five of us. We got to Sunrise to find a busy dining room. Five is a tough number but they made up a table for us and seated us almost immediately. I don't think I've ever had a more effervescent waiter. She was absolutely wonderful. I searched the menu which is packed with yummy things. I couldn't decide between three things. My wife suddenly told me to look at the specials board. There it was, a Slinger! I worked downtown STL for many years starting in the '70s. I crave OT Hodges slingers and have been on a search since I returned to STL five years ago. I almost quit trying out the various iterations because most I've tried are terrible. Not this time. The Slinger was fantastic. It wasn't OT's but it was still fantastic. As it turns out, the owner of Sunrise used to work for at OT Hodges. We had a great conversation about the good old days. The burgers were top quality beef cooked to perfection. The hash browns were perfectly crispy. The eggs were perfectly prepared. I was in breakfast heaven. My wife had country fried steak with gravy. She declared it excellent. The other food around the table looked good. It's a drive for most of you but the drive is well worth it. Yes I will return! read more

This charming cafe is truly a gem. Service is extraordinary considering how busy this place can get. Locals obviously favor this establishment and it's common to see a regular gathering of friends. The coffee is always excellent, Ronoco, and they actually serve boiling water for black tea to steep adequately! I've tried the cinnamon roll (worthy), Frisco (? Not sure of the name) salad.
