Very nice mom and pop cafe in nice town. Make sure you get here early on Saturdays because they sell out of some dishes and close at noon. We were still able to have some great dishes. Definitely try the biscuits and gravy. It's really really good! The French toast is also amazing. Don't soak in syrup because they do a great job in cooking it that it's a crunchy/firm outside. The hot ham and cheese is also amazing. Tty the chili too! The service is friendly and helpful. Realize it may take a bit longer than fast food places because the dishes are made as it's ordered. We made a trip to Lebanon to look around and decided to stop in here to eat. It's a cute little place and they weren't busy so we were seated quickly by a very friendly lady. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. We both got breakfast! Bacon was cooked perfectly and they have Texas toast! Hubby got sausage, egg and hash browns and said it was delicious! This is a wonderful little place to stop in and get some yummy breakfast! We'll be back! read more

Stopped at this little place on the way to Iowa. We were the only people there when we arrived. The owner was very attentive and explained the coffee options, answered our menu questions, and shared her plans for the new space next door. Really great service. Food was delicious. We all had different variations of breakfast plates. I'm not a coffee drinker, but my teenage son and husband enjoyed an iced coffee with caramel flavor and whipped topping. The service was slow. Our order came out plate by plate. Could not get coffee or refill. But once we all received our food it was great. Would only recommend if you are very patient. The building is decorated nice and is comfortable. The servers seem very timid and are hard to hear. read more

I took a trip out to The Lantern with my sister and her kids after it received rave reviews in a local foodie group she belongs to. We were seated and immediately informed our orders might take a while due to a large party arriving just before us. This is truly a family run operation, with one cook shouldering all of food prep. We appreciated the heads up but settled in with some coffee and decided to stay. Our food didn't arrive at the same time, not surprising with one person cooking. Luckily, our server gave my niece a pack of cards to play with and the kids' French toast came out first so we didn't have to listen to complaints of starvation. I ordered the breakfast poutine, a mass of potato, sausage, sausage gravy, eggs and cheese. I was expecting French fries but got home fries/cubed potatoes, which was an better, in my opinion. My sister's biscuits and gravy was a big hit with her and her picky son, who couldn't shove forkfuls into his mouth fast enough. I felt his pain; my dish was huge yet I managed to eat all of it, unable to find the willpower to just put my fork down. The gravy here is really quite good and actually has a nice flavor. Our server was very personable and considerate-we enjoyed talking to her when she stopped by. The menu changes monthly, which can be great but caused my sister some sadness as she was mentally bookmarking the breakfast poutine for her next visit. However, I'm sure she'll find something to enjoy with the new menu. 4 of us (1 kids meal, 3 regular meals, 4 drinks) got out of there for under $40 minus tip. Delicious food, great service and great prices. If you go with a group be patient. Again, this is a small operation. Ask for the playing cards and get some coffee. It's worth the wait. read more

I do not recommend this establishment. When arriving there were four open tables. I asked for a low top because I was going to have two children with us. After starting to clean off the table the waitress came back with the manager telling me there would be a 45 minute wait. After they realized I was okay with that they then named off two different establishments that were open that we could go to. Mind you, my daughter was being very well behaved and not causing any scene. I've never been denied service due to having my child. Very unprofessional. read more

This place is the real deal! We stopped in for lunch as we were passing through Lebanon and had an absolutely delicious lunch. The gyro was overflowing and the ingredients were all fresh. We were driving through to go home and randomly stopped here, about 6 minutes off the interstate. Honestly the best biscuits and sausage gravy I've ever had. Biscuits made from scratch and the gravy was fantastic! Had a side of warm cinnamon apples and the ham was seasoned so good. Highly recommend! read more

Okay, so the food wasn't bad. Some of it definitely came straight out of a can and to the plate (canned "fried" apples)but unfortunately that's expected anymore at a lot of places. We ordered for three people- it took about 40 minutes for food- kitchen is VERY SLOW and the workers showed zero real effort towards making food and getting it out. I really think they made ONE plate at a time...my husbands food came out first, 11 minutes later they brought out my sons food and another 12 minutes later they finally brought mine out. We didn't even get to eat together with how long it took to get everyone meals. Nothing at all was said about the food- they didn't even ask how everything was when we paid- nothing. It was disappointing because no one there really seemed to care about the service or anything else. Guess that's one way to not get customers back. They definitely need help in the kitchen. A weekday lunch should not take 45 minutes plus to get food when there is only one other table that ordered before us and before we got there, their orders were also brought out one at a time with 9-12 minutes between each person getting their sandwiches. This slow timing may work for older clientele who have nothing else to do but sit and have coffee and chat all day, but lunch on a weekday for most others doesn't last that long.
